The Devil dances

207 Words
The garden was light and summery today. Flowers had bloomed and the air was fragrant. The sun kissed her face. She felt languid and relaxed. A light breeze came from somewhere and toyed with her hair. The devil appeared beside her as though he had been there all along. He took her hand and helped her to her feet. Without a word they begin to dance. He held her into his body, guiding her round. He treated her like a old lover, familiar with each other. But I don't know you, I don't know you, her mind cries out. Her body is saying different, this is familiar, this is comfortable. Her mind screams out, rejecting this spell, this dream. Cannot do this, her mind says. He is dangerous, her mind yells. She suddenly feels so young and all argument is swept away with the movement of her feet. Even so her mind is not fooled so easily. I know what you are doing it cries, you may get my body to respond but my mind that's a different thing. She turns one last twirl and he is gone. She is left alone to wonder. What is this all about, just what is it we are building to?
