Alone.
She wakes up alone and scared. She tries to remember anything but nothing comes to her. She knows where she was before. With her family, at home. Her daughter's laugh like music in the air.
She has a strange memory of pain, needle sharp and then nothing. She wants to go back to them. Where is this she thought, have I drank too much? She stayed still waiting for her head to clear.
'Your head will get better', a voice says in the dark. She flinches moves away. 'Sorry I didn't mean to startle you', he says. 'I was hoping to introduce myself to you, but you are disoriented at the moment'.
'Where am I and who are you', she says searching the darkest corners. 'That is a complex question, which I will answer. When you are more yourself'. 'You will answer me now', she says indignant.
He laughs long and loud. 'You can't keep me here', she protests. He laughs even more. 'No one is keeping you here', he says. 'So I can leave if I want?', she asks.
'Of course, but when you fully understand you may choose to stay', his voice sounds very close. She could swear he was right next to her.
