Disbelief

'You almost had me there', she said. 'I know who I am dealing with, devil. Did you really think it was going to be that easy? That I would just roll over and give you my soul'. 'The things I am showing you are true, I'm not pulling any tricks. I don't need to', he said. 'The devil not pull tricks or lie, highly doubtful', she said scornfully. 'Do you know what I was before I became the devil?',he said. She shook her head no. 'I was amongst the chosen angels. I had cause to oppose God and was cast out from the light. I haven't spoken to God since', he sighed. 'Do you want to talk to God', she asked. 'Yes, everyday, but I won't', he said. 'What exactly happened', she asked curiously. 'It was all about God's treatment of people. You probably won't believe me not many people do. There was a time when, after death there was nothing. No higher meaning, no reward, no answers. I heard the dead howl their discontent, their misery'. 'I could no longer bear the cries of the dead, though all those around me were completely dispassionate. I heard their words, felt their sorrow, to the point where I could not stand it'. 'I faced God to ask him to stop their suffering'. 'He said he would if I agreed to a deal'.
