The Man that Bit Me

The Kingdom

    As I wake up I can't help a feeling of nausea run over me. The last time I woke up I my parents were crying in front of me and screams erupted from the entire Kingdom. I can't help but shake at the memory. I look around me and the room is the same as it was before, only this time everything is unpacked. I look around and see a newly added black bookcase beside the desk. It is very neat and clean with all the books organized by color. It actually looks very nice. The papers that took over the desk and dresser are now stacked ever so nicely. I see a door adjacent from the balcony and can only hope that is the bathroom or closet. I look around and see that light is peeking in, but very dimly. As if the sun is rising but not really moving up to show more light. I look down at the clock and it's almost the afternoon. It should be completely light out, but it's not. There light shows the room more now and I feel even more alone. It's so dark here. Almost as if the light isn't welcome. I just shake my head. I look around at the bed and Caspian is nowhere to be seen. I assume he unpacked and cleaned everything since he told me nobody else was allowed to come into contact with me besides him. My eyes roll over the covers as I catch a note sitting on the pillow next to me. The note is a very light cream and I open it slowly, I will be back shortly Kitty. I just roll my eyes at the note, I mean when did he leave it? Whatever, I was not going to bother myself with such nonsense. I get out of bed and the cold hits me sending shivers all through my body. What is with it being cold all the time? It doesn't help with the loneliness and pain I feel every second of being here. I am just going to tell Caspian there needs to be a fireplace in here going at all times, I think to myself. I make my way to the door adjacent the balcony and open it slowly. I peer in and it is a bathroom. The floor is black marble, the walls are a light gray, surprisingly, and there in the middle of it is the bathtub I so desperately want to crawl into. It looks like it is already full of hot steaming water and I quickly undress and dip in. Immediately I close my eyes and picture being back home. Back home you could hear birds singing all the time, there were windows that overlooked the kingdom and you could see the mountains in the back drop. The walls were a nice light peach color and there were plants that draped every corner of the room. A sudden pang of heartbreak cripples me. I missed home so much.

     A voice breaks the silence, "So I see you've found the tub, but why are you in so much pain? I thought it would help you relax?" I look up so startled. There in all his glory is Caspian. "Why are you here?!" I yell, "I am in the bathroom, common decency is to knock! Get out of here you sicko!" He just chuckles at my embarrassment. "No Kitty, I will not be leaving. I just came here to keep you company for a little while. I mean didn't you read my note? I did say I would be back soon. Do you not realize what soon means?" I just shake my head and fill with anger. Instead of saying anything I decide to give him the silence treatment and he snickers at my reaction. "You know the silence treatment will not work on me." At this he takes a step closer, "I have been alive for a very long time and have mastered the art of patience." At this point he is almost right over me in the tub. I cover my body with my arms and wrap my legs up. "Also, you shouldn't be hiding your body from me. I know very well what the female body looks like." At that last part a sudden pang rings through my chest and I just ignore it completely. He chuckles and decides to leave the room. Before he closes the door he tells me he will be waiting for me in the room and to hurry. I make the decision to just clean myself quickly instead of trying to wait for him, knowing that if I took my time he'd just come in again and drag me out of the tub himself. As soon as I step out of the tub a towel wraps around me and I see him scrubbing me dry. "Took you long enough," he mutters. He takes me by the hand and leads me to a black door and opens it quickly. Now this is where the closet is. But it's not like other closets at all. The closet is long and wide. But the wall that faces the one with hangers is all windows. When I look out I notice the dim light again, but can see clearly all of the Vampire Kingdom. To my surpise it actually is beautiful in a dark and musty kind of way. The houses look like normal houses and all have lights coming out. I see children running up and down the streets and parents holding their babies. Everything looked exactly like the Human Kingdom, but only darker. I stood there for awhile just watching all I could see. After about 30 minutes I look up and see Caspian watching me closely. At this point my hair and body are dry and he's just smiling at me. "You look beautiful, Ebony." I feel the heat rise to my cheeks and look back around at the clothes. He just chuckles and points to where his clothes end and my clothes begin. I see he has added to my closet. I just look at him questioningly and he turns around quickly muttering about how I also have bad taste in clothes. I just giggle and look through all that he's added. Of course, it's all dark colored clothing. I roll my eyes and take out a cream colored dress that reminded me of my room. It had light yellow ribbons that made my honey colored eyes pop and I quickly dress into it. I make my way to the bedroom after brushing my teeth and combing through my hair. As I enter I see he has changed as well and looks even more handsome. The smell coming from him is so powerful and sweet. It is begging me to inch closer and just lay my head on his chest. I quickly realize he's turned around now and staring at me. He's looking at me up and down and I see a small smile form on his lips and reach his eyes. I am very pleased I chose to wear this dress.
