The Encounter

1300 Words
It was a long carriage ride from the Human Kingdom to the Vampire one. I left around 9 p.m. and should arrive around 5 a.m. I decided this nine hour ride will give me time to prepare myself and numb myself to all that Caspian has planned. The first three I allowed myself to release all that was built and building up inside myself. I would hit the walls, throw my body on the ground, scream, wail, hit myself, curse Caspian in the worst ways, and just fall to the floor racket with self-pity. The next three hours I thought devising a plan on how to torture Caspian in the worst ways was the most befitting for all my time stuck in this enchanted carriage. Oh yeah, did I mention the carriage is enchanted where it drives itself, you can command the location of the destination (which I have already tried to change, but it only responds to my fathers voice),  and it locks all the doors and windows until it arrives so I have total privacy, but I also in no way can escape, which makes it just as infuriating. I start to think of what Vampires are like. I have studied them since I could learn to read, because I knew one day I would have to assume the position as ruler of the Human Kingdom and meet the rulers of both the Werewolf and Vampire Kingdoms. So I thought it essential to learn all I could to learn about both races.      Vampires are known for the speed and cunning intellect. They are not weak against garlic or crosses or anything of that nature, but rather the blood of the one they love the most. Although they crave the blood and desire as if it was their last breathing source, it also physically weakens them. Talk about a double-edged sword. I was planning on making him fall in love with me and then manipulating him with the one thing I possess blood. Which to top it all off, human blood to vampires is also the sweetest kind of blood there is to them. They crave human blood already, so if I was to manipulate his feelings for me and somehow come up with some sort of long-ending truce in exchange for my blood I think I would die a hero. But, the problematic part would be somehow befriending him and gaining his trust. Vampires are smart and can pick up on stuff like that easily, I mean they are the kings of manipulation. Also, they have powers that even I don't completely understand. I will have to guard myself against all attacks that may come at me as soon as I walk into the castle. But how do I guard myself against things I don't even know are coming? I mean what kind of powers do they have, none of the books said anything just that they have traits among the Vampires that each are born with to help manipulate their targets. But how?! This just led to a massive induced headache.     The last three hours included numbing myself to what is to come and taking a really long nap. I couldn't mentally take anymore of the anxiety, anxiousness, stress, or fear that was building up anymore. My mind was running at a mile a second and I could no longer hold in vomit that was threatening to spill out. So I decided to clear my head and sleep. I dreamt of my life back home. My moms sweet voice echoing and bouncing off the walls of the castle, my fathers laughter at every turn, my kingdoms joy at having such loving and attentive rulers. I woke up crying and hearing screams of pain. I knew I crossed the border to the vampire Kingdom by the fifth hour of my departure, but this was the first time I heard these screams. Screams of agony and pain that I knew all too well. I remember these sounds when I first woke up this morning. Vampires killing humans. I heard begging, groveling, pleas of just allowing them life. I heard a man talking about his baby girls waiting for him at home. Another a woman screaming about how her son didn't have a father and she was all he had left. The last really broke my heart in two, it was a young boy who just begged to make it a quick and painless death. The only 'powers' you could say us royal humans have is the power to calm and bring peace to others. I haven't really practiced it much, but I knew this was the only way to help all the people I was born and swore to protect. I called on my spirit to bring warmth and calm all around me and suddenly the screams and pleas halted. Tears ran down my eyes and I felt as it I was going to pass out. I was completely drained from all my energy. And just as I was about to pass out I heard about 23 thuds drop all in unison. Dead bodies. This time my vomit came out and I let out the most anguished scream. I slowly drifted into darkness as I lay on the floor of my carriage rocking back and forth.      I quickly awake from my slumber as the carriage comes to a halt. I must have finally made it to the Vampire castle. I look out the window quickly and it still is completely dark. As if it was midnight and not one star shone. Another shiver runs up my back and goosebumps quickly cover my entire body. I take a sharp inhale debating whether I should sit in here and act as if I didn't notice or present myself as the noble princess of the Human Kingdom. I hesitate when the door opens for me and a pair of strong arms grabs me around the waist and clutches me to his chest. I am closing my eyes, but suddenly my once tense body relaxes and I am comforted by this warm presence. I look up and see the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes on. He has curly dark brown hair, tanned skin, soft dark brown eyes and a soft smiles. He exhales on my face and I smell apple cinnamon. He tucks my strawberry blond hair behind my ear and tells me to relax. I feel instant attraction to him and very safe, but there is no pull. I don't know he just seems perfect, but something is missing. In a flash we are up the palace steps, which I could barely see because of all the darkness, and I hear a grand door open and shut. I begin to take in the scene around me. The walls are a steel blue and the floor is a black marble. There is nothing hung up anywhere, no portraits, no paintings, not even any plants. It is just a cold and intimidating entrance. The man holding me takes a few steps forward and you can hear every step echo off the high ceilings. 'Well,' I think to myself, 'that will be problematic if you can hear every damn step I take inside this castle.' And suddenly we halt and I look up at the man holding me. He is staring daggers straight ahead and I turn to see  another beautiful man, I take in his appearance and am in awe. I think my mouth is quite literally on the floor. He has short, clean cut black hair, piercing deep green eyes, and a sly smirk on his beautiful mouth. When I make eye contact with this man I notice the entire time he has just been staring at me.
