Chapter 17 Date

"Norman, you have a lot to thank Rachel for. " Mary looked at Rachel with favor in her eyes. "You were absent for two days, and it was thanks to her care that everything went well with us." What a nice girl!   Mary wished Rachel could be her daughter-in-law. What a match she and her son made!   The more Mary looked at her, the more satisfied she became. "I'm sorry to trouble you this time." Norman thanked Rachel heartily. "It's okay. I love spending time with your parents." Rachel flushed and looked a little shy. She was so happy that Norman could see her kindness. "She wasn’t into me, was she? " Norman couldn't help thinking When it came to her family and her looks, Rachel was absolutely perfect. But he had nothing but gratitude for Rachel. And he had a girlfriend, he couldn't have any ideas about other girls. He wished he had thought too much. "Last time I said I wanted to invite you to dinner. Are you free tonight? Why don't we have dinner together?" Norman remembered the first time he accepted Rachel's help, promising to buy her a meal. Rachel finally waited for her crush to invite her to dinner! Rachel had already said yes to her best friend to go to see a movie and had bought tickets. Not surprisingly, Rachel chose to have dinner with Norman. After all, it was the chance she had waited for so long. "Sounds great!" Rachel nodded. "Go ahead then! It's still early, so you can go shopping and watch a movie or something!" Baron urged, surprised that her son had come to such a realization His son was a man now! Baron was relieved. They went to a restaurant with a fresh and elegant environment. Norman sat across from Rachel. There was an awkward silence for a few seconds, neither of them had thought through their opening lines. "I heard your mother say you're a star now? Your work must be tiring?" Rachel broke the silence. Norman hadn't figured out how to explain this to his family.   His parents are proud of him for his rise to stardom, even in a minor role. The Norman family was in business, and there had not been a celebrity in the family for three generations. Norman's stardom was considered a credit to the family. Every time Mary talked to someone, she kept telling them about Norman being a star. But he was not in showbiz anymore! "Alas!" Norman sighed. "I'm not a star anymore." "Huh? What's the matter?" Rachel was curious. Being a star was something many people dreamed of. "I offended someone. I was banned by Regal Entertainment Group now." Norman was at a loss to explain that he was being compelled by his female manager. "All in all, the entertainment world is messy." Rachel was trying to figure out what to say to comfort him. "What do you do now?" Norman asked her. "Ah!" Rachel was still trying to think of something to say when Norman's question caught her off guard. "Well, I work in a publishing house as an editor." "That suits your temperament." Rachel looked so quiet that she seemed to be doing paperwork. " I'll take that as a compliment!"   In fact, Rachel's father wanted her to study medicine so that she could inherit his hospital. But Rachel just wasn't interested in medicine. She was naturally kind, and could not bear to see sickness, death, and separation. Working at the hospital was too depressing for her. She felt cozy in her current job. "And you? What are you going to do? " It would be difficult for him to make a comeback. In particular, he offended Regal Entertainment, an industry heavyweight. It is almost impossible for him to make a comeback. "I've been doing live streaming for the last few days." Norman was a little self-deprecating. The thought of his own live set discouraged him. "Didn't it go well? " Rachel asked Norman's reaction told her that the situation was not very good. Rachel played live streaming, too, but only as an amateur. She did it either for fame or money. It was all for her own pleasure. Even so, Rachel got thousands of followers. Most of them were men. They thought she was pretty. "You must have a lot of girl fans!" Rachel felt a little jealous. Even a girl as popular as she was going after Norman! "It's a long story. I can't show my face on the air. That's why everyone thinks I'm ugly." "No way! " "They never stop cursing. People don't think much of me, and that's very frustrating." Norman shook his head. When he said this, Rachel went to check her phone. "It can't be you! " Rachel pointed to the masked man on her phone. The first time she saw the masked man, she couldn't help thinking of Norman. Especially when she heard him sing, she felt that the deep husky voice was very similar to Norman's. "Yeah, this is the Live Set I just started." "I thought live streaming was easy." "I only wear a mask, but the effect is so terrible." Norman was discouraged by the thought. "Look! I'm your fan!" How happy she was to know that the person she was following was actually Norman. "I watched your live broadcast these days. I was wondering why I didn't see the update today, so you are right in front of me. Why don't you sing me a song?" Rachel loved his singing and there was something magical in his voice that made her want to be close to him. "All right." Norman tried to keep his voice low so as not to disturb the people around him. When he finished, someone raised a thumb in his direction. Rachel was so lost in his song that she didn't come back to her senses for a long time. "You're a genius for music!" Rachel praised him. "If you keep going like this, you will be a hit." "Thank you! " Norman was in a better mood when she said this. "How about I give you a hand and write an article for you to publicize?" It occurred to Rachel that her work might help Norman. In that case, she could also get a chance to meet Norman.
