Cam POV
I have been sitting in my office with Mason and Alex for the last 10 hours now. I turn to look out the window and see the sun has long gone and has been replaced by the moon. We have been going over everything we have on the kidnappings so far and trying to work out how we fit in with them but we don’t have a clue, there’s nothing that ties the pack to any of the people taken and it’s frustrating.
Hunter, my warrior on the police force, has been working the case so he can keep a close eye on it. The only time the pack came up was when they found a slip of paper mentioning us. Thankfully the police think it’s just a reference to the moon phases.
Alex managed to get a lead with the contact he has and a witch should be here tomorrow to help. Everything is pointing to this being witches. We found some runes in the parking lot where the 4 girls were taken from. They were painted on the floor around the car the girls were in; it seemed one of the girls made it into the woods; we followed the trail she left behind in her attempt to escape but it disappeared under a tree; it was like she just vanished into thin air. I’ve had my trackers out to see what else we can find, but nothing else is turning up. All the people that have been taken are leaving no traces behind, no signs of a struggle, no scent, nothing. Hopefully, the witch will be able to help us.
The last few days have been consumed with trying to find out who is taking these girls and why and unfortunately I’ve not been able to see Alisa, she has been very understanding, and it just makes me love her more but I've missed her like crazy, she’s all I can think about. When I go to sleep she’s the last thing on my mind and when I wake up she the first thing I think of. I decided to give her a call whilst I have 5 minutes. I'll be glad when I can finally claim her as mine, then I won’t have to bother with phoning her. I will have an instant link to her mind and she will live here with me.
I pull my phone out and my finger hovers over the FaceTime button. It would be better to hear and see her than just hearing her voice. I tap on FaceTime and wait. She takes her time to answer, but when she does my díck instantly goes rock hard. She’s such a tease. I’m having an internal battle with my wolf. He wants to take what’s his, and he wants to take it now!
“30 minutes,”
I hang up, not giving her the chance to try to talk her way out of this one.
*Can you guys finish things up here? I have something I need to take care of.*
I link both Mason and Alex.
*Yeah, we can finish up. No problem, we’re done now anyway.*
*Is it Alisa you need to go take care of?*
*Seriously dude! That's my cousin.*
I cut them off and left them to bicker between themselves. I have a quick shower and change my clothes, then I leave the pack house and start the 5-minute walk to her.
As I’m getting closer, the excitement builds inside of me, that is until the sound of a twig snapping in the bushes near Alisa’s house makes that excitement turn to confusion. There should be no one near Alisa’s house, especially at this time of the night. I stand still and slow my breathing so that I can get a better idea of where the sound came from. It could just be an animal in the forest or a wolf out running.
Being a wolf has its advantages. My sight is so much sharper and clearer than normal humans and my hearing is extra sensitive. I hear a shuffle and my head snaps to the right. I look and notice an outline crouching down behind the bushes just below Alisa’s window.
It’s a wolf, a wolf I don’t recognize.
The wind changes direction and I’m hit with a foul stench.
*ROGUE AT ALISA’S!*
Rage courses through my veins as I send a massive mind link to Mason, Alex, and some of my warriors. How the fück a rogue got through the patrols is beyond me, but someone better have answers for me or else there will be hell to pay.
My wolf takes over. He’s out for blood at just the thought of someone doing something to Alisa. My clothes are shredded as my wolf pushes forward. It only takes a few seconds for my transformation to be complete, and it’s not painful anymore. In place of where I was stood is my wolf.
He has midnight black fur, but his eyes are still the same as mine. The only difference is they glow. He stands at 7 feet tall on all four legs. He towers above most wolves.
I rush forward with powerful strides and leap into the air. I land on the back of the rogue. My teeth are out and latch on to the rogue's neck. The rogue tries to fling me off, but he’s not strong enough. I can smell his blood. I squeeze my jaws tighter around his neck, wanting him to submit. The power radiates off me, making him succumb to my will. He lies down flat on the ground. I should kill this fücker but I need answers. Mason and Alex rush towards us, with Malcolm in his wolf form.
*Alpha. Imogen, Shaun, Leroy, and Jax are patrolling the area now to make sure that there’s no more.*
*Thank you Malcolm*
“Cam, I’ll take him down to the holding cells and see what we can get from him,” Alex turns to him.
He might only be a gamma but he’s still powerful and he can command lower ranking wolves, especially a piece of shít rogue.
“SHIFT BACK NOW!” Alex roars at him.
The rogue shifts back into his human form. He cowers from Alex and keeps his head low. It’s a guy that I’ve seen around town. He’s tall and lanky. It doesn’t look like he’s had a decent meal in weeks. His hair looks greasy and is in need of a good cut and clean, his skin looks dull and he has laceration marks on his wrists and ankles. He smells just as foul as his wolf did.
My wolf retreats back into the back of my mind, giving me full control. Mason runs to the tree line and grabs a pair of shorts that we keep stashed around the territory for when we need to shift unexpectedly. I pull the shorts on and walk over to Alisa’s house. Before I can even knock on the door, David pulls it open.
“What happened Cameron?”
“I'll fill you in later. Can I see her?”
I smell her before I see her. She rushed into my arms, wrapping her own around my body and squeezing me. All feels right with the world once again, now that she’s in my arms.
“I’m sorry, my love. I have to go. I just wanted to see you before I did.”
“It’s ok Cam, you go do what you need to do. I'll be right here waiting for you.”
How did I get so lucky to have her as a mate?
“Mason is going to stay with you until I know that everything is OK.”
“Cam, Mason doesn’t have to do that.”
“Shhh yes he does.”
“It would be my honor to protect my Luna,”
Mason bowed his head to Alisa. That’s the first time someone referred to her as my Luna, and it sounded amazing.
