Chapter 1 ••Time stands still
My feet pounded against the hard dirt as sweat dripped from my body from the sun beating down on me, but I couldn’t stop.
I had to push myself to go faster.
*I'm not far behind you, man. I think I might actually beat you this time* Mason, my beta and best friend, said through the mind link.
*Yeah you wish, if you wanna try to be-*
A smell so mouth-watering it makes me stop in my tracks drifts toward me. It’s been carried by the gentle breeze, clouding my senses, making me feel intoxicated by it.
It smells like the fresh breeze on a cold winter's day.
*Cam, are you ok?*
*Yeah, I’m good. You go on without me.*
*What do you mean-*
I cut the link off. I need to find where that smell is coming from.
I walk through the forest, following my senses towards a small lake on the pack territory.
The alluring smell gets stronger the closer I get to the lake.
I come to the tree line surrounding the lake and pause.
Time stood still.
Sat running her fingers through the water is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. Dandelion seeds are floating around in the air.
The sun is making the water reflect up toward her, creating sparkles on her face. Beautiful long brown hair with bits of bronze where the sun is hitting it, it looks like silk. She looks like an angel sent from heaven. I have to get closer to her. I need to see her face.
“Alisa! Alisa, come on, I need to go”
“I’m coming. Give me a sec.” Her voice is whimsical and melodic, her British accent makes her sound intriguing. It's the voice of an angel.
I’m willing her to turn around so I can get just one glimpse of her face, but I can’t move from the spot I’m standing in.
I'm frozen in place looking at this beautiful angel in front of me and my prayers are answered.
Striking emerald green eyes pierce into my soul, she must not be able to see me behind the cover of the trees, her sun-kissed skin is so smooth and flawless, I just want to run my fingers across it, the cutest nose that is begging to be kissed and lips so plump and look so sweet I want to taste them.
“Alisa, I swear to the goddess if I’m late”
“I’m coming now!” She shouted as she turned and walked away.
“Do you know who that was, Mason?”
“Yeah, it’s Alisa Parker. She’s Alex’s younger cousin and is staying with his parents while she goes to college in town.”
“That was Alisa Parker?”
I couldn’t believe that the girl in front of me just then was the snotty nose cousin of my gamma Alex.
She was always a pretty cute kid when she visited.
The last time I saw her she must have only been 8 or 9 years old. She wasn’t a kid anymore, now she was a woman, a beautiful woman and I don’t know why, but I’m drawn to her.
“Mate!”
