Chapter 21••What’s in the box

2378 Words
Cam POV Alex and Mason had been interrogating the rogue we had captured last night for the past two hours. He wasn’t saying a word. I will go and get answers myself soon if he doesn’t say anything. The witch Alex had found will be here soon. I'm hoping she can shed some light on this for us. I was sitting in my office going over some paperwork for the hotels when someone knocked on the door. “Come in.” Ryan, one of the warriors for the pack, walked into my office and bowed his head as a sign of respect. He had a large box in his hand. “Alpha, this was dropped off at the gate. It's addressed to you,” “Thank you,” I stood up and walked over to Ryan, taking the box from him. I set it on my desk and turned back to Ryan. “Thank you, Ryan” He bowed again before walking out of the office. I stood looking at the box. I wasn’t expecting anything and I didn’t recognize the handwriting. I reached my hand out to lift the lid when my phone dinged, indicating a message. I looked at my phone and saw a message from Alisa. I couldn’t help the huge grin seeing her name on my phone. She wanted me to go with her to the airport to greet her parents. I would gladly do that for her. I would move mountains if she asked me to. I left the box and sat back at my desk as I replied to my beautiful mate. I felt my heart soar every time she replied. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK “Come in.” I put my phone down as Mrs Williams walked in. Behind her was a woman with hair as black as night and her eyes were golden. This must be the witch. “Alpha, you have a guest,” “Thank you, Mrs Williams,” she bowed and left the room. The witch walked into my office. Her eyes fell on the box Ryan had just brought in. “Thank you for coming and for your help,” I indicated for her to sit down on the sofa. She made her way across, sitting down and glancing at the box again. She shifted slightly in her seat. She must feel uncomfortable. I tried to relax my posture. I didn't like to think I made women feel uncomfortable. “You're welcome. I’ve been having some visions lately and I believe I am exactly where I need to be now.” This intrigued me. Before I could respond to her, I got a mind link from Mason. *Cam, Alisa has just texted me saying June is taking her to college and I don’t need to go, is that ok?* *If June is going with her, that’s ok* *Cool, I’m gonna see if I can get this fücker to talk* *I’ll be down soon, the witch is here.* *Ok* He cut the link off, so I turned my attention to the witch. I looked back at the witch to see her staring at the box again. Her eyes were pulled together and her brow was furrowed in concentration. “Tell me about your visions?” I asked, snapping her out of her trance. She looked at me and smiled, but it wasn’t a genuine smile. This smile was fake for my benefit. “There is a very dark force moving forwards. She will bring about the destruction of man. If she isn’t stopped, we will all be doomed!” “How are your visions linked to me and my pack?” “You have a powerful wolf here, Alpha! She will be the one to stop this.” “Do you know who this wolf is? I have a lot of powerful wolves…” I hadn’t gotten her name and felt like a díck now. “Katrina. And no, I don't know who she is. I can't see her in my visions. They've been tampered with, so I can’t see. She is from a long line of powerful wolves! Do you have any wolves with unique coats, Alpha?” “My gamma has a slightly unique coat. I mean, I've not seen any other wolves with his coloring before, but he’s male and you keep referring to this wolf as a female.” Alex did indeed have a unique coat. I’ve never seen one like it before. His wolf is metallic silver. When he's out running in the sun, his coat shines and looks like it's actually made of silver, but under the moon, he blends into all his surroundings. “Does your gamma have bright green eyes?” She was looking at me with an intense look. I felt like she was looking directly into my soul. “I suppose you could say that they're bright green. I would say more emerald.” “Does your gamma have a sister?” “No, only brothers!” I was starting to get nervous with where she was going with this. “Does he have any female family members, Alpha, and not his mother? This wolf is very young.” My mouth had gone dry, and I felt sick to my stomach. “He has a cousin, but she’s not getting involved in this shít!” I practically snarled at Katrina. She didn’t seem fazed by that though. Instead, she smiled at me. “She’s your mate!” “Yes, she is, and she’s not getting involved in any of this.” “Everything will happen as it needs to, Alpha. I will need to train with her… Alpha, I think you need to open this box.” She walked over to the box and ran her hands above it. “It has something dark inside. I can feel the dark magic within. " I walked across the room and stood beside Katrina and looked at the box. Now she had told me she felt something dark within it I could, I reached my hand out and ripped the lid off. My heart stopped beating. Inside the box was the head of a girl. She had x’s cut across her eyes and a rune painted on her forehead in what looked like blood. “This rune is dark,” Katrina said, pointing to the symbol. “It’s the rune of sacrifice. This poor girl has been damned to eternal damnation.” My blood ran cold. The girl's mouth was open slightly. You could see a piece of paper just sticking out. I looked at Katrina and she shook her head. It was worth a try. I reached out and had to open her mouth more so I could get whatever was inside out.I unfolded the paper and almost died from a heart attack. My heart was beating fast in my chest and I felt like I was having a cold sweat. It wasn’t a piece of paper, it was a picture of Alisa. It was taken through her bedroom window. She was looking up at the sky through the glass with the words I’m coming for her next written across it. The rogue! He must have taken the picture and given it to whoever was doing this. I have never before felt rage like I do right now. My blood felt like lava boiling inside of my veins. My wolf was ready to kill anyone and everyone. I ran from the office to the holding cells, leaving Katrina behind. The guard for the cells opened the entrance door as I got closer. I stormed down the dark corridor following the sound of Mason and Alex’s voices. I can hear them both asking the piece of shít questions. Each step that I take just makes my anger rise more. I’m not sure if I’m more man or more wolf at this moment. I push the door open with such force it slams back against the wall. I walk over to him and pick him up by his throat and slam him into the wall behind where he was sitting. His chair crashed to the floor and his chains rattle. My hand that is wrapped around his throat is starting to sprout black fur, signs my wolf is definitely trying to get out. “What do you want with Alisa?” I snarl. I can see the fear in his eyes and smell urine. He píssed himself good. “I’m sorry Alpha Cameron, they told me if I didn’t do it that my baby would be killed,” he stutters. “Who told you they will kill your child, and where can I find them?” I growl out. My voice is a mixture of my own and my wolves. “I’m supposed to report back tonight with new information. They told me you wouldn’t be able to see me. She did some spell that was supposed to keep me hidden from you. Please Alpha, don’t hurt me.” “WHERE WILL I FIND THEM!” I roared. “In the town is an old mental asylum. It’s away from the other buildings and she has it cloaked so no one can see, smell, or hear anything inside. Please Alpha, she has my baby, he’s all I’ve got left, and she’s got him,” He was crying now and I felt bad. He did all this to protect his child. I felt my wolf retreating back into my mind. He sympathized with the rogue. I’m not saying what he did was ok but I would do the same for Alisa or any of our children. I walked out, with Mason and Alex following behind me. “Find out if what he’s saying is true. If he’s expected back tonight, let’s not disappoint.” Mason smiled his big goofy smile. He always loves a good fight. “I will go find out,” Alex added before turning around and walking back into the cell the rogue was in. A few hours later, we had a plan in place and a backup plan in case the first went wrong. Mason had got a map of the asylum and we had planned out all our entrances and exits, Alex helped Katrina get supplies so she could perform a spell to counteract the cloaking one on the place and also a protection spell on the pack house and territory, she said the territory will be more difficult as it’s a larger area but she is doing her best. David and June had been informed and David was picking Alisa up from college whilst June organized for her parents to get picked up from the airport by a few warriors. Because Mason or Alex hadn’t found a mate yet June and my mother still did their duties, unfortunately, my father's beta, Mason's father died a few years ago and his mother couldn’t accept his passing, not being with her mate was too much to bear so she took her own life. She was found in the forest. She had hung herself and left a note for Mason. Mason was devastated, but having my own mate now I understood, I couldn’t live without Alisa. I asked Mrs Williams to get some rooms ready on my floor for Alisa’s parents and her friend, who was coming as a surprise. There is no way in hell I’m letting Alisa out of my sight and out of the safety of the pack house now or ever again. Mason called a meeting with all of the pack warriors so we could brief them on what was going on. Some were shocked I had found my mate, but all of them were more than willing to lay down their lives for their Luna. That made me feel so much pride for my pack and these brave people in front of me. It was go time, but not before I got to see the love of my life. David sent me a mind link telling me he was pulling up, and I walked out of the pack house and straight to his car. I opened the door and took Alisa’s bag and her hand, helping her climb out of the car. I loved feeling her hand in mine. It felt like it was made to fit in my hand. I lifted it up to my lips and placed a soft kiss on the top of her hand before I gently pulled her inside, where I knew she would be safe. I wasn’t comfortable with her being outside after finding out the rogue was sent to spy on her. Goddess only knows how many more are out there. I was nervous as I led her up to our room. What if she didn’t want to stay with me? What if it was too much, too fast? I watched her as she looked around, noticing I had her things all put away in the room like they belonged here. She turned to me and I braced myself for her to say it was too soon but instead, she kissed me, it felt like she was devouring me and I fücking loved it. I hated leaving her, especially after she kissed me like that, but then she said those three little words I didn't realize I so badly wanted to hear. She loved me, she actually loves me. This just made me more determined to keep her safe. I had to use all my willpower to drag myself away from her. As I was walking down to the warriors waiting for me I almost turned back around to go back to her, but I had to see this through. Her safety was more important. Whoever this was, was targeting my mate, and I was going to do everything in my power to make sure she didn’t get caught up in this. We made it to a spot not far from the asylum in 30 minutes. Katrina did her spell, and the air shimmered like on a really, really hot day and you can see the heat waves in front of you. “For Dark Moon!” I roared. “For Dark Moon!” Everyone replied.
