Chapter 20••Reunion

Alisa POV

I walked into the house, rolling my shoulder to try and work out the ache. Training had been taken up a notch. Imogen said she was going to push me and that’s what she was doing. I’ve been sparring with her and she’s been teaching me some new moves to defend myself. She wanted to see if I could remember what she taught me today, and I was doing pretty damn well. Until she tricked me, she bowed her head and said “hello Alpha Cameron.” As I turned around to see Cam she threw me to the ground slamming her whole body weight on top of me, I ended up knocking my shoulder against the ground in a weird way.

It hurt like a bítch.

Apparently, I need to learn how not to get distracted by anyone, especially sexy Alphas.

Aunt June saw me walking in and pointed to a chair for me to sit down.

“Let me have a look sweetie,”

She lifted my arm up and down and asked me to move it back and forth to see what range of movement I had.

“You will be fine by tonight. Your wolf must be strong if you're already starting to heal and she's not fully here yet. Go get showered. I’ll make you something to eat before college. "

I stood up and gave her a kiss on her cheek.

“Thank you, Aunt June,”

After getting freshened up, I went down to the kitchen. Aunt June had whipped up some sausage, bacon, eggs, and French toast. It was absolutely delicious and just what I needed to get me through the rest of the day. She had the radio on in the background as she tidied the kitchen up. A news report that came on piqued my interest. Apparently, young girls had been going missing from the town near us. That must have been the girls on the flyer the woman was handing out in the town the other night. My heart went out to the poor women. I hope the girls turn up soon.

“We will leave at 6.15 pm to go meet your parent's sweetie. Did Cam want to come?”

“I’m not sure, actually. I‘ll ask him.” I grabbed my phone from my pocket.

‘Hey, just a quick question? Are you busy tonight?’

I put my phone down on the counter and picked my fork up when he replied.

“That was fast,” I muttered to myself.

‘I'm never busy for you,’

‘My parents get here tonight. Did you want to come with me to the airport? You don’t have to, so don’t feel like you have to say yes,’

‘Of course I do. If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. I would love nothing more than to meet the people who brought you into this world.’

‘Your such a smooth talker, my mum is gonna love you.’

‘Just your mom?’

‘No, I’m sure my dad will as well.’

‘Lol, I will see you later. Have a good day.’

I finished eating and put my plate in the dishwasher. Aunt June had offered to take me to college today, so I let her know I was ready. I had forgotten to let Mason know Aunt June was taking me, so I sent him a quick text.

‘Hey Mason, Aunt June is taking me to college so you're off the hook today,’

He had been like my shadow for the last few days.

‘That’s ok, I’ve just checked with Cam and he said if your aunt is taking you it’s fine, you call me asap if you need anything or if something happens’

I rolled my eyes, what did he think was going to happen at college. The lecturer was going to turn into a dragon and eat everyone. I chuckled at my joke, getting a strange look from Aunt June.

‘Ok, I will have a great day, Mason,’

‘Be safe Luna,’

Mason had started calling me Luna, and it’s weird, but if I am Cam's mate I will be Luna, so I need to get used to it. I have asked him to stop, but he refuses. I'm sure he does it to tease me.

After my first few lessons, I went to the dining hall and found Izzy, one of my new friends, sitting alone eating her food. I sat down beside her looking around to see if I could spot our other friend Charlotte, she hadn’t been to any lectures today and I haven’t got her number to ask her if everything is ok, probably something to do with her family again.

Charlotte was actually the first friend I made here. She was so outgoing and lively, people kind of gravitated toward her. We have pretty much all our lessons together.

“Hey, are you busy at the weekend?” She shakes her head.

“No, why?”

Her voice is thick with a southern accent and I absolutely love it.

“It’s my birthday tomorrow, and I was having a party and I want you and Char to come.”

“I would love that. I will book the night off work later on. I deserve a good night out.”

Tomorrow I am having a small celebration with my family and Cam, but we are keeping it small because tomorrow is the day I get my wolf and I will finally get to shift for the first time. We sat talking and making plans whilst eating our food before getting back to lectures.

After finishing for the day, I walked out to see Uncle David waiting for me. He looks on edge. His eyes are scanning everyone walking by and I can see how tense he is. He looks like he’s ready to snap at any moment. Dread fills me.

Something bad must have happened. He sees me walking toward him plastering a fake smile on his face. He starts to walk in my direction so we meet in the middle.

“Hello Pumpkin, I thought I would pick you up today” his voice is thick with worry.

Uncle David doesn’t usually worry or stress about much. This isn’t like him.

“Is everything ok? No one’s hurt, right?” I’m worried just from seeing my uncle.

“No one is hurt, I promise you. We’re going to send someone to pick your parents up from the airport, though. We have had a breach in the territory and need everyone to remain inside. Cam is sending some of his best warriors to collect them, so don’t be worried,”

His tone had gone softer as he spoke, calming me slightly. It must be bad though if Cam is asking everyone to remain in the territory.

The drive back was intense, to say the least. The air was so thick you could slice it with a knife. Uncle David was constantly scanning everywhere, and he drove well past the speed limit. When we reached the gates, warriors stood in both human and wolf form. I saw six just at the gate. Driving down the path to the village, I caught glimpses of others in wolf form patrolling the inside of the territory. My anxiety was through the roof and my imagination was running over time, thinking of all the bad things that could have happened.

“Can I go see Cam?”

“He asked me to take you to the pack house instead of home and he’s also got rooms ready for your parents!”

I looked at my uncle, confused. What the hell was happening?

“Uncle David, what's going on?”

“Talk with Cam Pumpkin,”

As we pulled up to the pack house, Cam was just walking out the front door. He walked over to the car and opened my door, taking my school bag off me and holding my hand, helping me get out of the car. He lifted my hand up to his mouth, making my stomach dance with butterflies, and kissed it softly. When he lifted his head back up he looked over my shoulder and gave a small nod to Uncle David.

Uncle David drove off, not saying a word.

“Cam, what’s going on?”

“Come inside and I will fill you in.”

He looked me in the eye and I didn’t see any worry in them. I saw anger brewing in his eyes. He led me inside and up to his room, never letting go of my hand.

“I’ve had some of your stuff brought in here for you. I don’t want to be apart from you anymore. Is that ok with you? If you're uncomfortable, I will sleep on the floor or on the sofa. "

I pulled him closer to me, encircling my arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug, his strong arms wrapped around me, and I felt so safe and secure.

“I don’t want to be away from you either, and tomorrow is my birthday. Once my wolf comes, I am going to mark you as mine Cam.”

I nipped his marking spot with my teeth and he let out a sėxy growl. His arms tightened around me, pulling me closer to his body. I felt his hands running down my back, making my knees tremble.

“I never want to be away from you.”

He kissed my neck, making me moan in pleasure from the sensation it sent through my body.

“Women! Why do you make this even harder for me? I’ve got to go. I really don’t want to. You have no idea how much I wish I could stay here with you and ravish every inch of you. I’m sorry I will explain everything later, but this is a time-sensitive operation. I’m sorry I won’t get to be here when your parents arrive. Mrs Williams is the head omega. She will help settle your parents into their room and she will have food ready for them when they arrive. Please stay inside.”

“I will.”

He lifted my head up by placing his fingers under my chin. His lips collided with mine as he kissed me with such passion and urgency. It was like he was a man starved and I was the first bit of food he had. When he pulled away, I was breathless.

“I love you, Cam.”

I don’t know why I said that. I knew I loved him, but I wanted to wait to tell him. He was smiling the biggest smile I’ve ever seen. His eyes twinkled. He crashed his lips against mine again, consuming me. I pulled him closer to my body. I was pressed up against him and it felt so right.

“I can’t tell you what hearing these words from your lips means to me. I love you Alisa so much it hurts. My world begins and ends with you. I will be back soon. I love you,”

I could tell he didn’t want to leave, but he pulled away, looking into my eyes.

“Fück Alisa.” He groaned, pulling me back, so I was flush against his body.

With one last kiss, he walked out, closing the door behind him.

A few hours later, I was standing in the foyer of the pack house excitedly waiting for my parents to arrive. I had got myself familiar with Cam’s room and found he had moved all my clothes into his closet, all my make-up, hair products, shower gels, and bubble baths, all placed neatly in his bathroom. Everything I had brought with me was in his room, placed like it had always supposed to have been there, and it made me feel giddy inside.

I was exactly where I was supposed to be and I was finally so sure about my life and my purpose. It was to be by Cam’s side, helping him run his pack and to be there for him, to offer my love and support, and to make sure he knew how special he was to me.

Mrs Williams had given me a quick tour of the pack house, and I was glad she did. This place is bigger than it looks. It has a dining room for pack members, the kitchen is humongous, a sitting room, a game room, a gym, Cam's office, then the living quarters. The ground floor is a common area for all pack members. The first floor is for warriors, the second floor is for Mason and Alex, and the third floor is for me and Cam. They even have the pack hospital here.

A black SUV pulled up to the pack house. The windows were tinted, making it hard to see who was inside, but I didn’t need to see. I knew who was inside. I watched as the door opened and my father got out, followed by my mother, then Sam. I ran through the door into my father's waiting arms. I could hear my mother let out a soft sob as my dad let me go and was replaced by my mother's arms wrapping around me.

“My baby. I’ve missed you so much,” she cried into my hair.

“I’ve missed you more.”

My mum let me go, holding me at arm's length to look me over properly. Sam couldn’t wait anymore. She has always been impatient. She crashed into me, giving me a bone-crushing hug.

“I’ve missed you. Calls and texts are not enough,” I pulled away from her.

“I’ve missed you too. Come on, let’s get you all settled. "

I linked my arm through my mother's arm while my dad put his arm around my shoulder and Sam bounced along next to him. After getting them set up in their rooms, we went to the dining room to have some food. My mum and dad went to bed after eating. They were exhausted from all the traveling. Sam was full of beans and I had missed having my best friend with me. We made some hot chocolate and went outside to the back of the pack house. There was a fire pit, so we set it up and sat down.

“So tell me everything!”

She had her I want to know everything look on her face. We spent hours by the fire talking, but time flew by. It felt like minutes. I told her everything about Cam, and she was made up for me. She filled me in on everything happening at home and all about Wes, apparently, he went ballistic when he found out I had found my mate and it was no other than Alpha Cameron of The Dark Moon pack, oh to be a fly on the wall to see that.

I was about to turn in for the night. Sam looked like she was gonna drop dead when chaos started to fill the pack house. We both stood up and walked inside to see what was happening. Pack warriors were running in every direction. Some looked like they had been in a war. One was being helped in by another, limping with a nasty cut across his thigh. It looked infected and was oozing a weird black pus.

Alex burst through the doors carrying a girl. She looked dead, but I could hear her labored breaths. She was filthy and far too skinny. Her face looked sunken in and her cheekbones jutted out of her face. She had bruises on her neck and cuts on her face. Her hair looked like it hadn’t been brushed in a year and was matted with dried blood. I ran towards Alex, but he snarled at me. I slowly backed away from him.

“Alisa, come here,” Cam's voice came from behind me.

He had a gash across his chest, but it was already healing.

“She’s his mate,” he said to me.

Realization flashed across my face. Alex had found his mate, and she looked like she had been beaten half to death. Cam pulled me into a bone-crushing hug. He put his head in the crook of my neck and took a deep breath.

“I need to get everyone sorted out here. Go take your friend to her room and you go get some sleep. I'll be up when everyone is sorted.”

I looked around at all the chaos.

“I’ll stay and help,”

“No! please go to bed. You need to rest. You will be having your first shift soon...happy birthday, my love.”

It was officially my birthday, but I couldn’t celebrate with everything going on around me. But Cam was right. I did need my strength for later. He kissed me goodnight, and I took Sam’s arm and led her upstairs to her room.

Cam had put my parents and Sam on his floor. After saying goodnight I made my way to Cam's room and climbed into his bed. I pulled his pillow over to me and took a deep breath, inhaling the intoxicating smell coming from it. It didn’t take long for me to fall asleep with his scent surrounding me.

My dreams were full of Cameron Woods and his amazing lips.
