Chapter 3The drive back to Rachel’s place was tense. The wind whipped against the car, as if they were breaking the speed limit to get back into the city. Once Trish could see the familiar structure of Rachel’s apartment complex, she let out a breath. She’d driven her home once or twice before while at work on bad rainy days. Rachel was impressed now that Trish remembered her building from all the other generic ones. She didn’t get a chance to ask, or say much at all, though, because Trish was already grabbing their shopping bags and locking her car. “Lead the way,” she said, arms filled to the brim with stuff. “I’ll follow behind.” Rachel unlocked her building’s front door, went to the elevator, and selected her floor.
