CHAPTER 5
1987 Words
There's nothing special that had happened the following days.
All of the students are busy because tomorrow is the opening day for the event.
Alex is still busy thinking about what had happened that night.
The thing is,
that annoying weirdo as what Alex calls it, still never stops bothering him.
That doesn't really helps with his stress and problems.
The Cafe is starting to get more busy because his boss rarely passed by to help out.
He is busy with other things that are probably really important.
So Alex needed to do multi-tasking and the preparation for the event is even more exhausting.
They need to carry a huge a*s backgrounds and props back and forth.
They are also part of the practice of the performers specially today because they need to do a dress rehearsals.
That's not all, aside from the fact that they are busy carrying heavy a*s props they are also requested to get the instruments from the music room then bring them to the ground floor.
They already setup a huge stage but that's literally miles away from the music room.
They asked for some assistance from band groups who are busy practicing.
Gladly they offered their help and it won't be pretty hard for them.
Alex is not as strong as the others so he offered to carry only the light instruments.
His senior agree to the idea but asked Alex to be the one who will close the room since he will only be carrying the light instruments.
In the end,
everyone left the room carrying heavy instruments in their hands.
The only things left inside are two guitars and one black workout bag.
Based on his knowledge it was the spare stuff ang repair tools for all the instrument,
so he guessed that he still needs to bring it, just incase.
Alex underestimated the black workout bag.
He almost broke his shoulder when he suddenly swung it over his shoulder.
Having a hard time carrying the bag to his shoulders then the two guitars in both hands.
He was about to left the room when he remembered that he still needs to locked it.
So he put the guitars and the bag down first then closed the door.
He was about to carry the bag again when he noticed that there's also a hand reaching down for it.
It's like slow motion on how both of their hands reached for bag.
Alex with his reflexes immediately retrieved his hand back when both their hands brush against each other.
Alex doesn't have a single clue why he suddenly felt flustered.
It was just a hand.
He looked at the person who also has a shocked expression as him.
"What-" -
Alex was about to speak when he got cut off by the person in front of him.
"Benji asked me to go here to check if there's still some people practicing . But I guess they already moved out. Then I suddenly saw you so I thought that you might needed some help so that's why" -
He explained in such rushed pace.
Alex just slowly nod and let him carry the bag and the other guitar so he decided to pick up the other one.
The guy in front of him looked surprised when Alex suddenly carried the guitar when he was about to carry it.
"Let me carry this one" -
Alex said and the guy just nod.
On their way the guy suddenly spoke up.
"I'm James by the way, James Drake Francisco. I'm from the faculty of Engineering. I am also a member of crossboard band along with Benji" -
He introduced himself.
Alex is not a friendly person but doesn't want to be rude.
"uhm nice meeting you" -
Alex quietly replied.
"I hope you don't mind, but what about?" -
James asked.
Alex literally had a three seconds logged into his mind before understanding what James meant.
"ow! Uhmn hehe" -
He awkwardly chuckled and scratch his nape using his other hand.
Seconds of thinking.
He finally spoke.
"I'm Alexis Miguel Nuebles and Alex would be just fine. I'm from Performing in the arts Faculty ? I'm not part of a band and yes Benji is my senior" -
He uncertainly introduced himself.
He doesn't know why he was so unsure about his introduction.
He looked at James when he heard him lightly laughing.
"Well nice to meet you too Alex. I hope I can talk to you again, a more casual conversation if ever" -
James said while smiling brightly at Alex.
Showing his blinding white teeth and deep dimples.
Before saying his goodbye and headed to his members.
Alex had no idea why he even spaced out.
Later on, their senior gave them a break .
After getting some foods he headed back to the stage where the band groups are practicing. The band groups is not the reason he came back.
That's because his friends are there watching the band groups while are busy practicing .
It's also the performers' break time and the girls are probably too tired to buy themselves some food so Alex, being a good friend he already is, decided to bring them some foods.
He came close to them then gave them the bag full of foods.
The three's eyes immediately lit up.
"OMG Alex you are the best" -
Elaine told him.
He just smiles softly.
Then he gave them a peice of paper.
Since Elaine and Thea are busy devouring the foods.
Nicks is the one who receives it.
She looked at Alex looking so confused .
"That's the receipt, pay me within this month" -
Alex said then happily sat next to Niks who is still shocked over what Alex had said.
While the other two are looking at him deadly.
Not like he was bothered by it.
He focus himself on his phone.
Then he suddenly felt someone is staring at him, at first he thought that it was just the girls that are still sending him death glares.
But no,
the three are now all focused on eating the food he bought.
He looked around and saw no one so the thought that it was just his imagination.
But then he received a message
*WIERDO
'What's wrong why are keep on looking around?' -
He don't know if this weirdo doesn't know or he just want to teased Alex more.
'Gosh you're really annoying can you just stop it I know that it's you' -
Alex replied.
*WEIRDO
'It's me that is what? I can't understand you' -
He received a reply and it annoyed Alex more.
'Whatever, I don't have time to talk nonsense with you or to even talk to you.' -
He replied before putting his phone back in his pocket.
Aside from participating in the performers' practice,
there's nothing special happened in the rest of the day.
It is also a good thing that they can only do one to two runs, then rest so that the other performers can rehearse.
A lot of band groups also take their turns on stage because battle of the bands is also gonna be held on the opening day.
Alex saw alot of familiar faces,
some are classmates, seniors and even his housemates.
Alex even had a few eye contact with James.
He does not know if it's only him who finds it awkward.
He noticed how James immediately diverting his head in the other direction.
Those eye contacts are even faster than a glance.
Alex finds it weird but he just shrug it off.
He definitely know that he will be gonna late for his job because the seniors told them to stay for a little longer.
They polished everything just to make sure that everything will go out smoothly.
The event will last for three days.
They only need to finish the opening or the first day smoothly then the following two days they can chill around.
They can also watch some performances from different departments and clubs, same with booths where they can go to check them out.
So Alex is just wishing for the first day to be finish as fast as possible.
When the seniors said that they need to stay for a little while that doesn't mean for just a few minutes or an hour.
Alex and the other students stayed there for more or less two or three hours more.
Alex already messaged Jacob that he will be late,
the timing is going too good to him since his boss was at the café so it means that Jacob and Jasmine had an extra help.
It was already dark when they're given the permission to leave.
Along with his friends some classmates and schoolmates
they are also on their way out of the university.
The dormitories are just a few walk from the school same with the trans. stop for those who will commute.
Alex's house and the dormitories are on the same street but the cafe is on the opposite so instead of joining his friends on their way he told them that he won't be able to walk back with them.
They stops at the front gate of the university when Alex suddenly stops .
The three looked at him with a confused expression.
"I still need to go to the café" -
He told them.
"Wait it's already eight, you still need to go to your job?" -
Thea asked with worriedlook.
She notices how Alex looks so restless lately.
Alex just nodded and was about to walk the opposite way when Niks suddenly grabbed his arm.
He looked at them as if he was asking them what's wrong.
" We know that you are working hard but don't overwork yourself. At least you should give yourself some rest and sleep" -
Niks told him with a worried expression.
Alex just smiled and say goodbye to them then waved before finally walks away.
When he faced his back to them and starts his way through the quite dark street,
Alex can't help but to smile.
He is really touched on how the girls treats him.
He has a lot of grudges in his heart but his friends is one of the positive reasons that keeping him to be happy .
He knows that they won't be able to stay with him forever but he was just happy because they were always looking after him.
He promised to himself that he will look after them also.
That sums up his whole day aside from coming back home late again.
He knows that he won't be having enough sleep tonight.
He just hopes that everything works out well tomorrow.

SNEAK PEEK :
Don't ask about his parents they are the worst.
Alex always has this huge issue with his parents.
Just thinking about them makes him stress.
Then he just realized that the semestral break is just some few months away.
He will gonna have no choice but to come back since his sponsor for his scholarship cuts the payment for the house during school breaks .
Another reason why he should be stressed out with his life.
"f*****g existence" -
Alex told himself.

This chapter isn't as great as I wanted it to be but, at least James was introduced to this chapter so it's okay. I don't really know how it will turn out when I was still writing this, but now that I finished it, it's weird that I already knew what will going to happen. Anyways, it's still a pretty boring chapter to be honest, but I don't know you probably like it or whatever.
