Chapter 8

Emma's POV

The nurse drew the curtains allowing beams of light to strike my sleepy face. I turned slightly to the side table near the beeping machines coming face to face with a huge pink teddy bear, a satin bow onto it.

Next to it were some bouquet of yellow roses the same ones from yesterday but these ones smelled fresh adding fragrance to the dull room I was admitted in.

Ooh Marlon,he's such a sweetheart!

I said deep within my thoughts, I am sure they cost him a lot. The nurse dressed all in white, examined my vitals before leaving, probably to get me breakfast because I was seriously starving.

As soon as she left, a man walked in clad in a slate-grey suit, pulling a silver tray in front of him. I could have swore that dark brown hair was familiar. After carefully placing the silver tray beside my bed he then faced me.

Oh no, what's he doing here?

His blue eyes looking intensely at me, making my insides melt, but then something more like a wall tried to warn me to keep away from him. An enemy of my boss is an enemy of mine as well, that's right I knew where my loyalty stood so I was team Cain all the way, despite him being the worst boss you could possibly have.

"Wakey, wakey, breakfast is here!"he said his guttural voice raising goose bumps all over my body.

He's so sweet, but if Cain comes here and finds him, I could possibly lose my job. But the food smelled so good....

"Thanks but no thanks. I'm not hungry,"I said trying not to sound rude in a way but I'm sure he got the message.

"Ooh, no food from strangers huh? I believe we've not been formally introduced, Alexander Monroe Valdez" he said reaching out to me.

"Emma Millers,"I said uneasily.

"Now that we know each other, you can gladly eat the food, it's not poisoned if that's what you are thinking," he smirked.

He's so dashing, his muscles calmly settled beneath that slate-grey suit, damn his musky cologne would have knocked me down had I been on my two feet. Focus, Em! Focus!

"Ha! Poisoned right?! I'm pretty sure my stomach is still full,"as soon as those words left my mouth, my stomach loudly grumbled.

He lightly chuckled then placing his finger on his mouth, he smiled and said," My bad! Well I guess I better return the food then,"he said, turning the tray around.

I was so hungry but, but...my boss...I should stay away from him...he's an enemy of mine as well....

Aaargh f**k this! I'm hungry damn it!

"Wait.. please leave the food,I'm super hungry,"I begged.

"Yeah I figured," he said taking the bowl of brown soup and heading towards me.

"Why are you doing all this? A normal person would have paid the bills and be on his way but it seems you looking for trouble, you very well know my boss hates you, detests and despises you. So why show your face here, if you know you're gonna run into him?"I said glad that I had gotten the words off my chest.

He looked at me, calmly trying to comprehend what I had said to him before pulling a chair towards my bed and said," So, are you calling me abnormal?"he asked raising one of his thin carefully trimmed eyebrow.

"Seriously, that's all you heard?"I asked.

"I'll get straight to the point, i haven't been able to sleep knowing that i almost killed a beautiful woman such as yourself, regardless of you being Cain's secretary. What I'm trying to say is whether Cain likes it or not, I'm not leaving you, before you fully recover. Now be a good little patient and open your mouth,"he said directing a spoon full of soup towards my mouth.

He had me at 'beautiful'. Wow! He thinks I'm beautiful? Well it's been a while before any man complimented me but still 'a beautiful woman such as yourself?' Someone better pinch me cause I swear I was on cloud nine.

He was literally spoon-feeding me!His eyes never leaving mine for a second, I tell you if all nurses were as handsome as he, I'd gladly be in the hospital for an year!!

"Can I ask you something?"I asked after he finished spoon feeding me.

"Depends,"he said taking a white napkin and wiping the little stain I had beside my lip.

For a brief moment, his hand remained there beside my lip as we held eyes,I remained silent fearing to interrupt whatever we had going on.

Suddenly the door opened and someone stood there his voice raising shrilly as if to warn us of what a sin we were committing," What on earth is going on here?!"

Holy s**t! Kill me!

Cain's POV

I drove my car around the streets trying to get my head straight. First there was, Kendalla, yesterday, after having a couple of tequila shots with Marlon, i decided to go back to the apartment.

Switching on the lights, I saw a figure calmly settled on my bed, a bottle of red wine in hand, dressed in nothing but a black negligee. Any man in my situation would have gladly banged her but not me, I had just enough of her, it's been almost four days and she's giving herself to me in a snap of a finger. She could have at least played hard to get, wouldn't that be a show!

Just so you know I like them feisty, that turns me on....but Kendalla was...how do I put this gently.....too immature for me...

"Get out!"I said, throwing her one of my shirts.

"Cainy, come on. Don't be so uptight let's have some fun," she said slowly trailing over to me reaching for one of my buttons on the shirt.

Grabbing her hands, I yanked her from the bed and gladly opened the door ready to kick her out," Believe me, if I want fun, I could gladly hire a w***e, besides I've had that New Zealand women are too good in bed compared to your kind," and I slammed the door on her face not missing the anger written all over her face.

Now here I am on my way to the hospital after my dumb secretary got herself run-over by none other than my mortal enemy.

Parking my car in the parking lot beside a black SUV I entered the hospital. Perhaps I should have brought flowers but what the heck, she might be allergic to them. So why go through all the trouble?

Her room? What was her room number again? Ooh 523 right!

As soon as I opened the door, my cheeks suddenly grew taut, my head threatened to pop. Wait, were they about to kiss? Didn't I specifically warn Millers to stay away from him!

With rage threatening to explode from within me, I asked," What on earth is going on here?!,"
