In the dark of night, on the outskirts of town was a hut in the forest camouflaged from the many trees surrounding it. A man dressed in black was meeting his boss for a private meeting. The man walked through the huts creaking door and saw his boss standing in front of the only window in the small hut. Why was the meeting in a hut in the middle of nowhere the man doesn't know.
"Sir, the bait was sent" the man said hoping his boss would be in a better mood compared to yesterday.
"And...?"
"He did exactly as you predicted, he sold himself out to them" the man said cautiously.
"Hmmm"
"They brought him somewhere else so I wasn't able to get anymore information of what they asked him or what happened but I'm pretty sure I know what happened to him after they were down questioning him..."
"....."
"Sir?" The man asked still standing behind him.
"Everything is going according to plan" his boss said laughing to himself devilishly while looking out the window.
"Is there anything else you needed sir?" The man said before leaving.
"No, you can leave" his boss said smiling to himself. It was right there at that moment the man knew something had switched in him. The man just hopes that whoever crosses his path is prepared for what's to come. The man left after bowing slightly and closed the creaking door behind him.
While the man was walking away he turned around one last time and saw on the side of the house where the window faced, saw his boss still smiling to himself while looking out the window.
Back in the small hut, while he stared outside through the window he said one phrase.
"Soon, we will meet" he said smirking.
Present
Rin's POV
I woke up not wanting to get out of bed. Ever since yesterday's events I just wanted to stay curled up in bed, but I can't because everyone depends on me solving this case. I just can't seem to get this nagging feeling out of my chest to just drop this case. Some part of my being is telling me after all this I won't like the outcome and I don't know if it has anything with my father or something else but something brought me to this city and I don't know what it was.
I got up to get ready for work as it's a Thursday, not wanting to dwell on the unknown and keep my thoughts in check from keeping me from work. It's currently 6 in the morning, I'm not typically a morning person as my house is engulfed in darkness and without my alarm going off at this time I would most likely be late to work everyday.
As a detective I don't wear suits or slacks since I find them uncomfortable to wear, I do wear jeans and a blouse or a long sleeve shirts with a jacket. As I live alone most of my wardrobe consists of work clothes and clothes to get dirty in as I have a garden out back that I plant vegetables and grow flowers in.
I head down to the kitchen and make myself some breakfast and brew my morning tea. I'm more of a tea person than coffee as it doesn't wake me up and makes me more tired so I stick to my many flavors of tea that I brew from the flowers and plants in my garden.
I finish eating and grab my keys and I head out to my car. As I step outside I sense someone is watching me, I look around but I don't see anyone or where the feeling of being watched is coming from. I let the feeling be as I get in my car and drive to work.
I love that I live not so close to the city, yeah my drive is probably about an hour but it helps relax me before I get into work and deal with new cases. Is it safe that a woman with no husband or not that many neighbors around her should be living alone? No. But I do it anyway because I'm a grown a*s woman and I can take care of myself. Not to mention I always have this feeling and some might even call me crazy but I don't know who would as I don't have that many friends who I talk to about my life, but anyways there's always this presence that whatever happens to me I know I'll be safe...it weird and hard to explain but something like that feeling always happen whenever I go. Maybe it's a guardian angel watching over me? I'm not sure who it could be though as my parents suck.
Stuart's POV
I start my day getting new cases together for when Rin gets in so we can go over them. I truly admire her as a person and as a detective as she is one of the best at such a young age. Even though I myself am what some would call a loose cannon since I get scared easily which shouldn't happen as I work in this field of work and I'm supposed to keep my emotions in check but also going up in the ranks you'd think I'd have my act together by now, but no...
Anyways about me I'm a loner with no life outside of work. Literally. I live to work and work to live. I visit my family on the weekends but other than that I'm a loner with no social interactions with the outside world other than work itself.
You know it actually still fazes me that I work as a detective like how did I even get here with my personality? I am really smart though so that could be a big part of it. I really do like working with Rin since she puts up with my personality and nonsense.
When she arrives I hope we can talk more about the case we had yesterday as it freaked me out, my body just involuntary shuddered thinking about it. Something about this new case doesn't sit right with me but I'm the robin to her Batman so I'll let her figure it out. Although she probably wouldn't like me saying that as we're not that close outside of work. Gosh I need a girlfriend...
Rin's POV
Walking into work I'm met with Stuart who hands me chamomile tea one of my favorite flavors, I look at him in surprise as he doesn't normally get me a drink when working together as he's not my assistant...
I take the tea and thank him, still not sure what to think but oh well free tea I guess.
I walk to my desk, which for the ones that don't know me...well that would be all of you but I'll tell you guys anyway. My desk is not CLEAN. Like compared to my house it's a total disaster. I don't know why but I don't see the point in keeping my work space clean if it's just going to get dirty and messy again from all my documents, old tea cups, evidence and whatever else is on my desk. But I will have you know I do try to keep it somewhat organized but no one else would notice that's it's organized but me that is. lol.
I set my tea on my desk and start with the file that's label test results for the body that was found yesterday. While I'm looking through the file Stuart walks up to my desk and stands there.
"Yes" I said without looking up for my he file.
"So, um.. about the case yesterday.. can we talk about it" he said with uncertainty that I had to look up at him and wonder why he was talking like that.
"Sure, but before that... we are going to Roden Enterprise to ask some questions about the case and if any of their people were involved" I stated. Stuart doesn't know that I have a connection to their Cartel through Ronnie, but he was able to put 2 to 2 together about the Company and the Cartel being linked, I wasn't able to get any information since their Boss wasn't in yesterday.
"Can we talk on the walk about it so I'm not out of the loop then" he suggested looking at me.
"That's fine" I said getting up and grabbing my tea that's half full, I didn't realize how much I drank of it until I picked it up.
"Wanna take my car" Stuart asked reaching for his keys.
"You're funny" I smirked at him while grabbing my keys. No way in hell am I getting in his red Chrysler PT Cruiser. He must be trying to kill me if he thinks I'll ever ride in that.
I look and see he puts his keys back down and grabs his coat while looking heartbroken that I turned down to ride in his car. Sorry but not sorry.
