On Mia's 18th Birthday, her wolf awakes, her reaction was the opposite of sunrays and daisies.

jarring, would be the word that embodied Luke's eyes on her.

Its something that Mia will need to figure out.

Its something, that she will have to live through.

Birthday text
Mias pov I couldn’t stop crying. my tears rolled down my cold skin and soaking the pillows as I desperately gasped for air, my body tensing in horror and my hands gripping the bed sheets until my knuckles are white as my eyelids flew open, unfocused on the ceiling. Great. The same nightmare. The same f*****g nightmare on the morning of my birthday. I tried to breathe more, my Mouth open to let oxygen calm down my palpitating heart and turned to check the time on my phone. 4:34 am in the morning. “happy birthday to me”, I uttered to myself, sighing and wiping off the tears from my eyes, Slowly, I pushed myself upright and move towards the side of my bed and wincing from the abuse and fresh cuts from last night. My phone vibrated. -- Thechillihair: Happy birthday babygirl! Mia: thanks Thechillihair: let me guess, you woke up from a dream again? Mia: How did you know? Thechillihair: which and what girl would be up this early in the morning unless they are up all night crying while binging on Netflix? I deadpanned at the screen. Forgetting the horror I had just experienced. Thechillihair: jks, you know I know you very well, I was just thinking about you minutes ago Mia: oh? And what were you thinking? Thechillihair: oh you no, how about some good razzle dazzle with a butt load of cake on your face for your 17th ? (winky face) Mia: f**k you Thechillihair: sure (smirk face) Thechillihair: hey, are you leaving me hanging? Mia? HEY! H E Y ! (seagull squawking photo) (left on seen) -- I chuckled lowly, trying to muffle the eruption of loud laughter that would come out any second. Soon after, I got off my bed and crept slowly towards the shower, trying to not make much noise. I turned on the tap, and let the hot water drape me into mellow warmth, hugging me from all sides as I focus on breathing, and trying to ignore the pain on the surface of my legs, the blooming purple across my skin. I wonder what Mal is truly thinking, But thankful that he’s always there. We met during preschool, and ever since we were stuck to each other on the hip. Getting into fights, only then to cry and run into each other arms since we couldn’t stay apart. Even after my secret. Even after my Mother died from a Rouge attack. But even so, he doesn’t know who I’m being dealt with currently. Mal, really is something. His curly ginger hair cut short the first time I ever saw him, and his bright, green eyes. Now he’s some guy who used to be all sweet and innocent, turned into a clingy, flirty mess. But no wonder why we are friends. He knows how to make me smile. I wonder how lucky his mate will be when she is the fortunate woman who will be with Mal for life. I left my thoughts as it is, and stepped out of the shower and looked at the mirror. My hair is long since I last checked: black, wavy and down to my hip. I stood a good 5’4, if I was any shorter, I’d be the new Rapunzel. I tossed on high waisted leggings, a sleeveless sports crop top, and an oversized grey zip-up hoodie “that’ll do.” Checking everything for another minute, and my figure for any noticeable bruises on my arms that was left there a few days ago, I walked downstairs to grab a granola bar and wrote a message on the fridge: “be back before breakfast dad.” and out the door, I went. --- 5:03am and its nippy outside. The wind blew softly against my hair while I strolled down the street, making my way to the hill just a few blocks down from my house to see the sunrise. Sara always told me, that seeing the sun coming out is like giving life to everything. And I really am in need for it as I speak. I need the sunlight to warm up my skin, shine in my eyes and into my soul to make me alive again. Just to wash away the panic I had, all the pain, even temporarily. “hello Mia”, a soft, mellow tone came from my mind I stopped in my tracks. “who are you?” “call me Lylith. I’m your wolf” she laughed gently at ease. “oh keep walking, it’s not like I am a ghost, am I?” “I guess you really did arrive on time on my birthday”. Saying it out, and a twitch on the corner of my lips that smoothed into a smile inwardly that I finally have someone that is there for me when no one is physically around. The hill slowly appears in my sight. And from the distance, I hear music blaring at this hour, and drunken men around a huge caravan drinking and throwing banter. “don’t be afraid. Just keep walking Mia.” Lylith echoed close to my ears. She accessed my memory, leaving a soft pang in my temples. She knows my fear. The surface of my skin began to prickle, and my hands clammy with sweat. “Mia. Mia, don’t be scared ok? I’m here to talk to you.” I began to pick up my pace. And somewhat breathlessly made up to the top of the hill. Just when the sun was about to break the starless sky into a vast sheet of warm gold. I always knew that a Mate is someone who will protect you for life. Someone who is destined to be with you until your last breath. I humourlessly snickered at the thought. Its ridiculous. “Lylith. Can I ask you something?” “Yes, Mia,” “will I ever come to trust my mate?” “the Moon Goddess never lie. Never place you with someone who will hurt you. She does everything she can to find us our perfect mate.” She purred in content, Huffing in confidence of who her mate will be. Confident of being protected by someone she will love. The light began to creep up and jump off the tip of the blades of grass. Dancing across the field of green, until its meters away from me. I stood while putting wireless earphones in, and taking off my hoodie to bare my battered skin. Not that anyone will be up on this hour, I could come as early as I want and no one will know. I closed my eyes as the music slowly etch into my chest, into every muscle in my body to my heart which fluttered in delight of what is about to begin. “thanks, Lylith"
