Moon Vampire and the Fire Within

Chapter 4

We collided, her dagger barely missing my face. She kept trying to slice at my face, but I was too fast for her and kept dodging her.

"Just give up Moon Vampire. You don't stand a chance against me."

"I will drain you of your blood and look upon your corpse and smile." I said to her

"Bitc*h I'm gonna kill you." she said in my face

"Go ahead and try Valerie." I said, blocking her dagger again.

I saw an opening and brought my Moon Scythe down and felt her arm disconnect from her body. She screamed, the wound gushing blood to the forest floor. She advanced on me, her wound still bleeding. I jumped high in the air and got above her. I brought my moon scythe down and around. It collided with her chest and pierced through her heart.

"HaHaHa, seems I beat you to it." I laughed in her face. She gave me a look of shook, and that was it. I tossed her to the ground, I didn't want to drink from a woman of ill repute. The other purebloods must have run off when they saw me kill her.

"Sapphire, are you ok?"

"It can't be?" I said, looking around. I know that voice anywhere.

"OH yes, it can be, How are you?" He said to me.

"OMG, I thought you were dead, Lucien." I said to him and ran to give him a hug.

"Sapphire, you know me better than that." He down to me hugging me back.

"Yes, I do Master." I said and let go of him and bowed to show respect.

"Where's Damien?" he asked me

"Fighting Vincent. How did you know I was with him?" I asked him back

"I'll explain later. We can't leave him, He needs our help." he said, running off towards the castle.

"OK, I'm coming." I said, following behind him.

We got to the steps, and I didn't see Damien. I rushed up the steps, my heart was pounding, I didn't know why, but this couldn't be happening. Vincent had his sword out, and I was at the doors and looked down on the ground. I saw Damien lying on the ground. He wasn't moving, Vincent was getting ready to deal a final blow on Damien.

I screamed, "NOOOOO!" I ran over to him and protected him with my body. I didn't understand why, but I couldn't let Vincent kill him.

Vincent stopped he had never seen me act like this before. Of course, I didn't know why I was doing it myself, but I knew that if Vincent killed him, I would never be the same. I was in a low crouch above Damiens body snarling at Vincent like a feral panther.

"Mate........." Damien whispered, still unconscious.

What, I didn't hear that right, did I?

"I see, You love this dragon, don't you, Sapphire?" Vincent asked me.

I just snarled at him, I wasn't gonna let him kill him.

"Sapph, I'm disappointed in you, such a fowl creature, but your blood is what I'm after." He said, and before I could move, he had me in his arms. He latched onto my throat and started to suck my blood. I screamed and tried to get away, but the more I struggled, the tighter he held. My vision started to fade, and I was getting dizzy. Then he was knocked to the ground, I landed on the floor hard. All I saw was Lucien fighting Vincent, and then the darkness took me.

"Sapphire........wake up!" Damien said while shaking me.

"My head hurts, stop shaking me." I said weakly.

"OH, thank Goddess." Damien said

"What happened?"

"You passed out after Vincent sucked some of your blood. He is very powerful, more powerful than I thought. If it wasn't for Lucien, we would have died. Thank you, Lucien. I don't know how to repay you." Damien said

"All I ask is for your loyalty and to protect Sapphire with your life." he said to Damien

"You got it."

"Sapphire... Sapphire, damn it, she's out again. Damien, you can't let Vincent drink her blood again."

"I know. How long will it take for her to recover from this?" Damien asked.

"A couple days at least. When was the last time she fed?"

"Before we fought that bastard." Damien said.

"She needs blood. She is fighting off Vincent's toxic saliva. Let's get her to the Marge, and you can give her some of your blood." Lucien said

"My blood won't hurt her, right?" Damien asked.

"She's your mate, right?" he asked back while they were heading towards the Marge.

"How do you know that?"

"You whispered it while you were unconscious, and she was protecting you from getting killed." he said to Damien matter of factly.

"Damn it, well guess secret is out. So I can give her my blood and she will be OK?"

"Honestly, I don't know. Most dragon blood is toxic, but since you guys are mates, it might be different. We have to try." He said to Damien.

"We're almost there. How is she doing?"

"She's really pale and really cold. Lucien, I think she is dying. Our bond is fading. we have to hurry." Damien said, quickening his pace.

They got to the Marge and got into a double room with a queen bed and a double coffin.

"Damien, lay her in the coffin and get in with her. See, if you can't get her to suck some of your blood , we don't have time to find a pureblood." Lucien said to Damien.

"Are you sure my blood won't kill her?"

"We're out of options. We have to try, or She's gonna die." Lucien said.

"OK... Sapphire, Sapphire."

"Damien......you smell so good.... hmmmm." I said to him

"Hey... sweetheart, I'm gonna need you to suck some of my blood."

I nodded and opened my eyes, and he bent down so that neck was exposed to me. I took his head gently in my hands. I didn't want to cause him unnecessary pain. I then put my mouth to the spot I wanted, and I bit down. He moaned a low moan. It sounded like it was pleasurable to him instead of painful. I drank just enough to heal me, I drew back and ran my tongue gently across the wound, and he shivered.

"Feel better?" He asked with a glazed look in his emrald green eyes.

"Yes, thank you, Damien." I said softly and closed my eyes. I was so tired.

"She will be OK now, Damien." Lucien told him and went to the bed.

"Thank the goddess, I know we just met, and we're mates, but I can't see myself without her." he told Lucien

Mates? What does that mean? All I knew was I was happy to hear him say what he said and knew he felt the same way I did. I feel asleep with the taste of his blood still lingering on my lips.
