Questions and Burgers.

1107 Words
I didn't really know where to go or what to do with myself once I left, seeing as I couldn't go talk to Lucy abou tit. In hind sight I should have just stayed and asked the million questions that are running through my mind. I started walking in the park and realised pretty quickly that Ares was following me. Far enough away that he probably thought I wouldn't notice, however I was practically walking around in circles at the park so It didn't take me long to realise. "You know, I know you are here right?" I said stopping and turning towards him. He continued to walk up towards me once he realised he was spotted. "I just wanted to make sure you are OK" He said. "Or wanted to make sure I didn't go running to Lucy?" I queried. "Well dad wanted to make sure of that, but I am here for support if you need it. How are you taking it" "I honestly don't know" I sighed. "I'm angry for the secrets, curious to know more, and scared" "What are you scared about?" He questioned. "What if I don't want to go, will you guys force me?" This was what i've been thinking about for the past few loops of the park. Did I want to leave my family and friends for some mystery life. Sure it sounds wonderful, but should I just keep it as it is in my imagination. I'm sure mum isn't planning on coming back considering she said nothing about her glammour lifting, and she has Keith and Tom. "To be honest, I'm not sre what that protocol is.. but I think you will want to come and just see first" "I don't know about that, I mean sure it sounds very inviting, but I love my life here, I can't just leave. What about Lucy, what about my education, I wanted to become a doctor" I said sounded defeated. "Mmm well.." He considered "For one we have a cover story for your family and friends when you leave, and two we have doctors too you know, I'm sure you could continue studying over there" "Wow you guys have it all figured out then" I saracstically replied. "What's the cover story?" "That my dad offered you a job at his business" "No one who actually knows me would believe that" "Well, you could tweak it to make it more believable, It's your story!" He continued. We kept on walking in silence after that. A million questions still going through my mind. I kept jumping from one thought to another. I felt dizzy from all the thinking, and the fact that we did about twenty laps of the small park. I stopped and sat down on a bench. Ares followed suit. "Tell me about you!" I asked "Where are you from?" "Don't you want to know about you and your family?" He replied. Which is true but I want to stop thinking about me and my future for a second. "Yes, but maybe later" "Mmmm what do you want to know" "Everything, that doesn't involve me" I said. "Well then.... I am Ares, first born to Michael and Michelle, High lord and Lady of the summer court. I have.." "Your high fae?" I interupted. Almost embarrased that I kissed a future high lord last night when I was drunk. "Yes" He said blandly. "Why is a high Lord and his son coming to get me? Couldn't you send someone else" I asked. "I thought you didn't want to hear about you" He replied. "True, continue then" I said, not wanting to cave and find out more. "As I said, I am the first born, but I have two younger siblings, who are about your age. Auriella and Annabelle. They are twins." He continued to tell me a little more about his family and that the twins are excited to meet me. He also mentioned that he is currently in training to be High Lord someday, so he doesn't usually have a lot of spare time and he is glad for this little break away. I didn't really interupt him as he continued telling me his court and half mentioning about other courts that they have alliances with. He decided to wrap it up as my stomach started to rumble. We had been out there for a few hours now. "I think we should go get burgers from my favourite place, seeing as I might not ever taste such deliciousness again" I joked. "Sounds good, but you just wait until you taste our food" He mused. "It must be good if Michael can barely swallow our food" I laughed, things making more sense now. We went and got burgers and sat in a quiet spot so i could continue asking questions about how faeries live and I did cave and asked more about myself. Ares said he didn't want to tell me too much as my mum should be the one to tell me, but I did manage to get out of him that I somewhat belong to the summer court whatever that means, and that I am of sorts a High Fae. Again vague. He said to get excited for a massive party upon my arrival as many people are excited for my return. Which hinted that I must be sort of a big deal. He said I have an Uncle and Aunt with two cousins. Unfortunately no living grandparents. Thats all I could manage to get out of him until tonight he said, where mum would hopefully reveal all. "Thanks for being honest with me" I said to Ares as we started walking home. "And I am so sorry for last night... I would never have done that, if I had known your were who you were" He just chuckled "You have nothing to be sorry for, I liked it" He just said keeping his smile on his face. At that point i wondered If he had a fated mate back at home, or if I had a fated mate. I was about to ask him about mates, but we were nearly back at my house. I told Ares to let mum know I am heading up for a nap, and that I will promise to talk to her tonight. I thanked him again before sneaking into the house and up to my bedroom before mum and Michael knew we were home. I quickly wrote down all the questions mulling in my mind to confront mum about later and I was actually so tired that I fell asleep almost instantly.
