We all piled into the kitchen, washed our hands, and started piling our plates with food. Poor mum had to work overtime with the amount of extra food she has been making for my party and for the extra guests. Although she had the extra workload, you would not pick it from the feast she has put up tonight. In front of us were two types of roast dinners, pork with some juicy looking pork crackle and roast lamb. Both are good choices if you ask me. However, I went straight for the pork. If I knew Mum well, she would have made a lovely fresh apple sauce to go with the pork, and I could not walk away from that. Along with the meat, she prepared all types of vegetables from roast potatoes and pumpkin, cauliflower gratin, and fresh greens. There was also a spinach, pumpkin, and fetta salad aswell.
I looked over and saw Ares piling a bit of everything onto his plate. He obviously did not share the same aversion to mums food as his father Michael, or if he did, he was not showing it. He was matching my brothers plate for the most food, and trust me when I say thats alot of food because Tom eats ALOT. Michael placed some pork and vegetables on his plate, not too much as I assume he was just trying to be polite like last nights meal. Everyone eventually thanked Mum for the food and sat down.
"Excited for tomorrow?" Mum asked
"Of course I am! I don't think I will sleep well tonight because of the excitement," I replied.
"Well, try and get some sleep it's going to be a long day," She continued
"Does the faerie princess have a date for tomorows party?" Ares asked out of nowhere. I coughed up my peas a little. Was he asking me to be his date, or was he just curious, I wondered. At the same time, Mum and Michael gave him a weird look of discouragement, and I swear I heard Michael kick him under the table.
"Princess?" Tom scouffed, "Harry is definitely no princess. " He laughed.
"No, I don't have a date," I interrupted before Tom could give me any more insukts."And faeries don't have princesses, do they mum?" At the ppontt Michael and Ares gave mum a look, as if to say please explain.
"I don't know, dear. I guess they could?" Almost asking a question herself.
"Of course they have a princess," Michael chimed in. "In fact, they have a whole royal family that precides over all the courts." I just looked at him confused, I mean, what would he know about faeries. He must've seen the look on my face when he continued, "Well.... ummm.. that's what your father used to tell us in his stories anyway. "
"Princess... I like the sound of that, Harry, you should totally go as a princess, " Lucy stated.
"It's too late to change my outfit anyway," I thought out loud. I mean, why would Mum not tell us about a royal family in the thousands of stories she told us over the years, I mean, adding it in would only make it more magical.
"Well, I would love to escort you to your party, in whatever faerie form you're going in," Ares said, breaking the silence. I didn't reply straight away, not knowing if he was just trying to be nice or if he truly wanted to be my date.
"She would LOVE to.. wouldn't you" Lucy replied for me. nudging me with her elbow.
"Oh yer, that would be nice, however you don't have to ask me just to get an invite you know" trying to play it cool.
"That's not the reason, but that's settled. I will take you to your party."
I kind of laughed. "Deal, although you're not really taking me anywhere, when it's here in the backyard." We all kind of just laughed and went about our separate conversations between us, while finishing our meal.
"Well, we might be the first to excuse ourselves, dinner was lovely thanks again Mum" I said while taking my plate over to the dishwasher.
"Yes, thanks, Ellis." Lucy followed suit. We had to do some hot gossiping before going to bed it might make me sleep better.
"Oh my God, Ares totally has a thing for you" Lucy whispered as we got into my bedroom.
"Shut up, no he does not, he was just being polite, I mean after all they are gate crashing my party"
"No way, I was watching him, watch you all afternoon he was totally checking you out"
"Really?" I was literally shocked at that.
"Really, really". We continued to gossip about boys and who was coming tomorrow and how I'd make them jealous having Ares by my side all night. To be honest, it made me quite nervous. I have never really had much attention from boys at all. mainly it was because I was so concentrated on my school work that I never gave myself time to have a boyfriend, and to be honest, I never was really interested. Maybe I just believed I had someone out there waiting for me that was perfect for me in every way, just like the faeries have fated mates. I know, silly, right? Eventually, it started getting late, and Lucy dozed off beside me. I tossed and turned for ages before finally submitting to sleep myself.
