EMBER
Me and Lyle stood a good distance away from Alec and Evan, they're currently enrolling onto their chosen subject.
I already know that Alec's chosen subject is Combat and Defence while Evan chose Law.
"You know, he does want you. He is just stupid." Lyle picked at his nails as he faced me.
"I don't care." I shrugged. "He chose Mia,"
"So it has nothing to do with the rivalry?"
"That too." I answered as I watched Alec.
His body slowly turned him around, he offered me a small smile which I didn't bother to return.
"I don't think he has anything going on with Mia. I think she wants it but he is just too stupid to say anything in the moment." he laughed. "You know stories of the matebond, people do stupid things."
"Yeah well, I'm not interested in being involved in stupid things." I answered. "Come on, they're done."
We walked over and I glanced at Alec's schedule. He pretty much has Combat and Defence all day. Understandably with a lot of lunch breaks.
"Do you have the campus map?" Alec asked me and I pointed to my head.
"Yup. All in here, let's go. Lyle, if anything happens, just link me." I smiled and he gave me a salute before patting Evans back and walking away.
I lead Alec to the combat building. Its structure and layout is very similar to the Protectors Den so I'm sure it will be a good place.
Alec kept up with me, shewolves glared at me and drooled over him as we walked past, male wolves raked over me while watching Alec in awe as he walked around the university as if he owned it.
Goddess if only people knew my true identity. They wouldn't cast a look in my direction.
"Is this it?" Alec asked as I walked straight towards the double doors labeled 'Combat and Defence'.
"I'll let you answer that." I sighed as I pushed open the doors.
Ah yes.
The fresh smell of blood.
Someone got a good beating.
"Oh wow." Alec gasped as I pointed towards the changing rooms. "Already?'
"You are already late. It's not a good impression for the future King." I answered and his eyes darkened.
"You care?" he raised an eyebrow.
"No." I folded my arms. "But the more you are away from me, the better I feel."
Now that is just a straight up lie.
The hurt on his face, Goddess I've never felt guilty over anything but that made me want to curl into a ball and hide.
"Right." he pursed his lips. "I'll get changed."
Nodding my head, I did the same.
I'm the only girl in this class which makes me wonder what kind of advertisement they do.
Surely this isn't it for the next three years?
By time I've gotten changed, Alec was outside waiting and the second his eyes met mine, they darkened.
They wandered over my body, I mean, yes I'm physically fit, I have to be.
Do I have a six pack? No but I am toned in all the right places and damn so is he.
I absentmindedly liked my lips as my eyes trailed along his body, my red face betraying me in every possible way.
"You're drooling." he smirked but I ignored him. "Its okay to find me attractive,"
"I never said that I didn't." I hit out. "Just- move!" I pushed him through the door, his laugh echoing and sounding so beautiful.
The training instructor glared at both me and Alec, it wasn't until I recognised the green streamed hair and brown eyes that I registered who it is.
'Arianna, you seeing this?'
'Yup, the bastard managed to slip through.'
Falling in line next to Alec, I jumped a little as his hand skimmed mine, tingles spread across my arm and I glanced up to him smiling.
"Good morning!" the instructor yelled and I rolled my eyes as this isn't normal. "My name is Master Trainer Kiran."
WRONG.
His name is Kai Chen.
He is a mercenary working for my dad.
"Do not leave my side." I mumbled to Alec who turned to me, his expression sour.
"Why?" he gritted between his teeth and I glanced around realising we are too close.
With our sensitive hearing, anybody can hear us.
"I can't tell you in here." I chewed on my bottom lip before closing my eyes, regretting my next action. "Catch me!"
"What- Oh- Oh right okay!"
Falling limp, I clutched my stomach as Alec gently caught me and held me close to him.
His warmth immediately engulfed me, his cinnamon scent wrapping around my mind, making it difficult to breathe.
"Sorry Master Kiran, my mate has fallen unwell-"
"Whatever," he dismissed us both and I smirked.
Without realising, my fingers had clutched Alec's shirt, my head snug against his chest, his heart beating steady.
Pulling them away, I slipped out of his embrace while he frowned.
"I liked you there." he smiled.
"Yeah well... unfortunately it was only an escape. We needed out of there." Pulling Alec to a corner I scrolled through my phone and found my list of mercenaries. "Look right here."
"What the f**k?"
"Yup. Kai Chen. Mercenary for Edmond Vanderbilt."
"I mean, unless he wants a war... he can't touch me." Alec shrugged.
"You don't understand, Edmond Vanderbilt he- he plays dirty." I chewed on my nails. "Why would he have a mercenary here?"
"He may be looking for his daughter. You know Ember Vanderbilt?" Alec raised an eyebrow and I hummed. "Seriously, she was a Vanderbilt but she was cool. Fiesty, kind and insanely beautiful." he smiled. "In a different world, we would've been friends."
"You thought Ember was beautiful?" I asked him, shock in my voice as I was always made to feel like a runt.
I should be jealous he is calling another girl beautiful but how can I be when he is literally talking about me?
I'm actually starting to think he genuinely doesn't think before he speaks because any other shewolf would've cried at his comments or kicked off.
"Anybody with eyes would have known that Ember Vanderbilt is the most beautiful girl on the planet." he laughed and if I wasn't Ember hidden behind these features, Goddess I probably would've pounced on him. "She had these big green eyes and beautiful red hair. Have you never met her?"
"No I have." I spoke quietly. "She was just bullied a lot. I'm sure that she would appreciate what your saying though." I shrugged. "I was her only friend."
The Goddess knows that I feel bad for lying but what am I supposed to do? He can't know my true identity.
That's one of the reasons I can't shift infront of him too.
Our world has a warrior, an undefeated warrior.
The Red Wolf.
Golden eyes, glossy red fur, a maniacal smile.
With skills unmatched, packs across the world have tried to claim this wolf. Some for good. Some for bad.
As you have probably guessed... its me.
Ember Vanderbilt.
I'm the Red Wolf.
