“Let me go!” Lily exclaimed as she struggled against the gaurds.
She’d managed to get her family out of the palace in time. They’d left but she’d stayed behind. She would stick by James no matter what. And when Vesky presented her with an ultimatum to join him and be allowed to go back to Leal, she’d refused.
James watched angrily as Lily was hauled into the cell next to his, her hands coming out in front of her just in time to break her fall.
“Lily,” he croaked, reaching a hand out to grasp her through the bars.
“Oh James,” Lily sobbed, leaning into his touch. His hand cupped her cheek lovingly. “I was so worried about you. I had to see you.”
“They should have offered you amnesty because you’re a Leal citizen," James said abruptly.
