HOLMAN
The group, now grown to five people, moved out. This time, Alec Holman brought up the rear and Luke Ellis went up front to take the point. He’d placed the women and the two young people between them both.
The deputy had already holstered his Glock 19 and was now carrying one of Ellis’ two M4s. The retired Army soldier – who he now recognized as someone seriously skilled in military operations – had given it to him after directing the teenage girl Annie to hand it over, which she’d done at once and with no questions asked. That she trusted Ellis so completely spoke volumes about him and put the lawman somewhat at ease.
