CHAPTER 1: AYABA KINGDOM
Narrator’s opening: Once upon the time, there was a kingdom called the Ayaba kingdom. It was a beautiful kingdom known for its victories against its forces and enemies. The kingdom flourished as they had a wonderful king and queen who were the carriers of great wisdom. They had a son named Wyatt, who was the heir to the Ayaba throne. He was very close to his mother until one day his mother fell ill… 25 years ago… Wyatt as usual, ran to her mother’s chambers to wake her up for the new day. When he got into the room, there laid his mother, looking at him. Instantly, Wyatt sensed his mother was not in good health, “mother, are you okay?” Wyatt walking closer to her bed side, her mother took his hand to hers, “can you please go call your father, the king, for me my son?” her voice low, clearly not the tone that Wyatt is used to hear every day he wakes his mother up. “Alright mother,” he let go of her hand and quickly ran to his father’s chambers. 12 year old Wyatt was so shaken by her mother’s intentions of calling her father early in the morning, which is something he is not familiar with. He got into his father’s chambers, “Father, may I come in?” standing at the door of her father’s room, “You may come in, son,” his father putting on his morning coat. He then went inside, came closer to his father with a face that couldn’t hide his sadness. “What is wrong, my little boy?” his father noticing how his face countenance is already telling there is something wrong. “It is mother,” he said looking down devastated, “Is she in her room?” his father said getting his shoes on, “Yes,” the king left in haste to the queen’s chambers. A couple of days later it was announced that the queen died from a kidney condition. The king and his son were in much grief that people who sought the king’s wisdom were not allowed into the palace for a month. The people of the kingdom also, were very much devastated by the queen’s passing who was a good woman. She loved giving gifts and donations to charities; she also assisted in building the kingdom’s first University. After her death, the University was named after her to honor her life. It was renamed to Queen Isabel University. The ayaba community held many celebrations to celebrate her life and her works. A statue was made in her remembrance, and was placed at the entrance of the Ayaba mall. The king hired a nanny to take care of Wyatt and play with him so that he may heal from his mother’s death, but Wyatt would always lock himself in his room and not eat till noon. His father did not know what to do in order to make her son happy even for a day. When Wyatt turned 15, his father took him to his factory, to show him the family’s legacy. He told Wyatt that one day the factory will be his to run and to make sure it is still profitable like it was since his great great grandfather opened it. Wyatt loved going through the factory’s budget sheets, its performance statistics and the balances. His father advised him to do business and major in accounting, since he loved to deal with numbers and statistics. Wyatt was soon occupied with school work that he no longer locked himself in his room grieving. But the king missed his happy son, but he did not know how to bring him back. On Wyatt’s 17th birthday, the king broke the news that he was going to marry again. A week after his son’s birthday, the king married a woman from another kingdom. She was 3 decades younger than the king. The king was comforted with a wife, but Wyatt still did not have her mother back to be happy. The new wife to the king only loved spending money on shopping and going out traveling. She did not care about anything that can help the kingdom return to its former glory when Queen Isabel was still alive. She then fell pregnant a few months later with a girl, she was named Amara. The king loved her daughter to bits. Wyatt too, loved his sister and spent time reading her bedtime stories. However, Amara’s mother spent days away from the kingdom going on vacations to have fun. “Sophia I did not marry you to go out every day shopping and traveling!” the king arguing with his new wife, “I am young, O’ King; I have to go out there and have fun. I have borne you a child, what more do you want from me?” the queen shouting back at the king, “I want you to be here with me to raise our children and rule this kingdom!” the king said, “No! You are not going to deny me my rights to enjoy my youth while you sit around here listening to people’s gibberish’s. I told you before we got married, that I want fun. There is no fun around here but people mourning their dead Queen, so forgive me your Highness, that I want to enjoy my life,” she left the king without waiting for his responce. Wyatt was eavesdropping, when the queen came out of the king’s chambers, Wyatt ran back to his room. The king was left devastated. The kingdom was no longer the same. Many things changed even for the worse when the queen fell pregnant with a son this time around, she forced the king to announce her the Queen since to the Ayaba people who only knew her as the king’s new wife. A big celebration was held to welcome the new Queen and her new born son, Liam. She demanded respect from everyone in the kingdom, and that people should bow before her because she is the mother of a prince and princess of the Ayaba kingdom. She took over the Palace court, and judged on people’s cases, punishing the innocents and applauding the guilt, everyone in the kingdom complained about her. Then one day the king sent her back to her people, only prince Liam left with her. After she left the kingdom, the king again ruled the kingdom with peace and harmony, everyone was happy again.
