I just stared at him with my mouth agape. This was really some sign that I was cursed. I prayed that he wouldn't have to work with me. I was really trying to avoid him due to all the issues that have arisen since his arrival. "Since you are just starting today, you will work with our honor student, Katelyn Moore. She will help you until you get settled in this class." She pointed directly at me and he looked directly at me. Well f**k my life. He came over to sit with me with a grin on his face. Ms. Kidman explained the lab and we soon began. I had already put on my lab coat and goggles. I had to find one of each for Jackson. After I got him his, he decided to chat with me.
"So, why didn't you come back to homeroom?" How did he know that?
"Because I had a phone call in the front office. How did you know that I wasn't in homeroom?" He looked uncomfortable with that question. Instinct told me he was going to dodge the question. And he did.
"So, I guess we're in the same class for now. Maybe you can help me with the other classrooms?" I nodded and since we hadn't started just yet, had him pulled out his schedule so I could look it over.

Second Period-Ms. Brown-Pre-calculus

He had all the same classes as me at the same time as me. I now officially believe in this Demon Lord that Nana, from the anime NANA, believed existed. Damn. That is what I get for watching anime on TV late at night last week. I get cursed by an imaginary character. Where is Sachiko hiding? I might as well jump ahead.
"Actually , we have the same schedule. I guess you can follow me around today. At least so you don't get lost. Do you have a lunch pin yet?" He put his schedule away.
"Yeah. I'm just not approved for free or reduced lunch yet. But I did bring me a sandwich." I sighed and decided to once again be a nice person. One sandwich for a high school male is not enough. Especially one with muscles bulging out of his shirt. I wonder how often he works out?
"How about for today, I'll treat you to lunch." He looked like a happy puppy for some odd reason. "I'll take that as a yes." He nodded vigorously. I couldn't hold back my smile from seeing someone so happy at something I'm doing. "Okay. Let's get started." I looked at the fetal pig and thought that it needs a lot more meat for me to eat. I shook off those thoughts and proceeded with the lab. I kept stopping to keep myself from drooling. It was embarrassing. I was happy when the class finally ended. We finished the lab while everyone else hadn't.
"So, do you always finish labs before everyone else?" I nodded. He glanced around at all the other students as we grabbed our things and left the classroom. "Why isn't anyone coming up to talk to you?"
"I don't have any friends. I never have and probably never will." He looked sad but said nothing as this girl named Tracy Miles approached.
"Hi Jackson. My name is Tracy Miles. I'm the captain of the cheerleader squad here at Redwood High School."
"Nice to meet you Tracy." I scoffed. I felt a little jealousy inside me at the fact that she was being super friendly to him on his first day. She had been my worst nightmare since I started kindergarten.
"So why are you walking around and talking to this nobody? I mean, I could show you around." She pissed me off with that nobody comment but I let it go. Though it was much harder than usual.
"Actually, this so called nobody is my best friend." That stunned the asshole cheerleader and shut her up at least. The warning bell chose that moment to ring. "We gotta go now." He grabbed my hand and dragged me to the classroom. Forgetting about the fact that he somehow knew where the classroom was, I was just stuck on the fact that he was holding my hand. I felt myself blush a bit about it. It was the first time a boy held my hand let alone an attractive one. When we walked in the classroom, I somehow regained my senses and let go of his hand and walked to my seat.
Luckily in this class, he couldn't sit next to me. Unluckily, Tracy was in this class and the only available seat was next to her. She also sat in front of me. The entire time we were in class, she kept mercilessly flirting with him. It kept making me mad for some odd reason. I considered chewing gum and spitting it into her hair but resisted. But much to my amusement, he ignored her advances. Besides, she already had a boyfriend who happens to be captain of the football team. When the lunch bell rang, he came and stood by my desk and waited for me.
"That Tracy girl is very persistent. I don't think I can sit by her for the rest of the year. Not if that is how its going to be." I shook my head at him. He had no idea.
"It's going to get harder soon. The end of the year dance is coming up. Plus it's girls choice. So you better expect to be asked by girls who have boyfriends and girls who just have no self respect and will try to proposition you. It will be a complete mess." He actually looked a little frightened. Poor guy. I wonder if he knew that he just oozed sexy. I chuckled and changed the topic. "Come on. Let's hurry up before they run out of pizza calzones." He grinned and I grinned right back. I guess I could be friends with this guy.
We got there just in time. We got the last two. I paid for both of our lunches as promised and I walked to my usual table in the court yard to eat my lunch. Jackson followed me and sat to eat with me. He asked me questions about the classes and the teacher's. I was able to answer all of them. We talked about all the things that I knew about this school until the bell rang signaling the end of lunch. We got up and dumped our trays. We walked silently to our next class.
In the rest of our classes, we sat together. We made a strawberry cheesecake in home economics. It wasn't that hard but some of the other kids made it seem hard. Then in history, we got an assignment to write an essay on the french revolution. That was something that I knew a lot about seeing as though I'm french on my grandmother's side of the family. And we talked more about Of Mice And Men in English class. Then she gave us a report to write on the story. Jackson has read the book before so he was good on the paper. He needed a little help on our french revolution paper so I offered to help him a bit. My Nana helped me trace our ancestors back to the time right before the french revolution.
After school, I had him drop me off at Mr. Robert's store. I told him I just needed to talk to someone who worked here for a while and that my mom would come pick me up. He looked like he didn't believe me but didn't force the issue. He left and I walked in to start another day at work. This really has been an interesting day. Maybe I'm not cursed by the Demon Lord after all.
