Prejudiced

I followed the pair into the hallway, making sure to give them enough distance to avoid being caught. "William wait" Ann shouted after him I stopped in my tracks, luckily for me, I was at the bend of the hallway, which happens to be a better vantage point "what is wrong with you?, why are you being this hard?" lady Ann continued William scoffed "hard?, you are the one being tough here" "why do you hate me, was there something I did?" I haven't seen this side of her before, she sounded meek. his gaze softened a bit "I do not hate you Ann, you know it" "why is it so hard for you to accept this betrothal then?, both our parents agreed to this, the king is only trying to be a good father to you, if not he'd not ask for your opinion,... you are making this hard on everyone" "you're making it hard not me, I think you keep bringing this matter to life, and stressing everyone out" William spoke icily Ann gasped in disbelief "how dare you say that to me, I've been your friend ever since we were kids" "yes my point, which is why it's impossible for me, I was born 5 years before you, you grew up right in front of my eyes, you are more like a sibling" they continued "take that back, do you even have an idea of what this would do to your father and my father's acquaintance?" Ann retorted "my father is quite crafty and we all know the value he holds, and your father.. I have to say is a very smart man, so I doubt their long time friendship that has been before we were born would suddenly end because of a rejected betrothal" I said that even knowing I might come off as a jerk "you don't say that word to me, I'm a lady who knows her worth, and you can't reject me" she sounded more angry "it doesn't look like it, and moreover everyone knows an acquaintance with the king is a rare chance, so I doubt your father would end their relation, from the way I see it... you are the only one that would have a problem if this betrothal doesn't go through" "that's a lie" it was more like she whispered those words "rebut it all you want, I'm done here" William turned his back on her and left her in the hallway moments after he was out of sight, lady Ann yelled in anger, I don't know what the deal is but it seems to me like she's taking this too personal, I see she is an ambitious type I quickly retreated from the spot I stood at, I've gotten the show I came for, better not to hang around and get caught by the angry bird herself now the conversation I overheard the other day in the carriage makes sense, I hurriedly moved out of the corridor and head for the parlour when I ran into Arthur "what took you so long your highness, and where is what you were supposed to pick?" Arthur asked "sorry I kept you waiting, I couldn't find the scarf in time, I must have misplaced it" I lied he was about saying something but hesitated, I do not like suspense, so I couldn't help myself "what is it?" "Something seems off" my heart hammered, where is this going ? "and you haven't told me about yourself, but hopefully we'd get to do that while we are out" this is not good, there goes my plan to uncover William's mystery, but that wasn't the bad news, the bad news was that I can't tell Arthur about my little time travel tale, I would probably sound crazy, and since I can't tell him the truth, what cooked up story will I tell him? "shall we" he offered his hands, which I took he helped me up into the carriage and signaled for the coachman to move. he sat facing me, while I sat there trying to cook up a lie that won't sound too crazy or dramatic for this era "you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to" Arthur suddenly spoke up "whaaat" I tried to stop myself from pouncing on the idea of bailing "no its not that I don't want to, but you know if you want us to talk about it some other time then who am I to disagree" its getting obvious isn't it? he laughed as if I was a child being cute "yes, we'd just talk about it some other time" "okay, deal" I grinned from ear to ear, I couldn't believe the amount of relieve coursing through my veins. the carriage we took had windows we can see through, I mean that was the whole point of the trip, I noticed a cute little girl with her small sized basket, locking hands with who appeared to be her mother, I smiled at the pair. "is there something that has caught your eye?" "oh don't mind me, it's this little girl, I've just always had a thing for kids, they are cute and delightful, it's a shame I've never had a younger sibling" I said that with a certain level of disappointment. "at least that is a place to start, no siblings,... only child, not that I want you to talk about it" he smiled mischievously and shrugged "yeah, right" I faced the window "oh, come take a look at this" Arthur stood up from and leaned forward to get a view of the street "I think it's time I take the wheels of this sightseeing" I laughed at his remark "you bet" *WILLIAM'S POV* I watched Eliza get into the carriage with my brother, and for some unknown reason that only made me more angry after the conversation I just had with Ann. "this is so pointless" for the briefest moment I had the urge to go down there and put a stop to it and I couldn't even keep a straight head around her this morning, her dress was so provocative,... to me at least, I could see the others weren't affected in anyway, not like my father would twitch or mother. stoping them from going into town won't change anything, it would only make that headstrong woman go to extreme lengths to prove to me that I can't order her around. I shut my eyes and tried to see her in my head, her skin looks so soft, her full sinful lips and that wicked smile she always throw in my direction, she is starting to drive me crazy, can't Arthur see that she's out to get us, I just can't help unsee the scenario where she marries Arthur for power. I can't let her have her way, I'd go after them, even if Arthur is been ignorant now I'd be there when he needs me, though something at the back of my mind tells me that I'm fooling myself, but it's just a brief thought. I moved close to the coachman compartment "stop the carriage Aaron" I waved for the coachman close to me to stop, which he did, he slowly pulled to a stop. it's barely a minute before Arthur emerged from the carriage "what is going on here, are we in trouble" "you sure are, you keep moving with that woman.... you are in for more than you can take" I responded "funny how you seem to be the only one with that opinion" he approached my horse I alighted from Spring (my stallion) and motioned for Ed (the second coachman) to take the horse "what are you doing here" Arthur asked jestfully I clapped him on the back "I bet it would be no fun without me" he made a face "I don't think your dark spirit hanging around would do us any good" "hurts my feeling" I placed my hand on my chest in a dramatic manner "uh.. it hurts brother" "ah, ah... Good one" he shook his head "get in let's get this wagonway going" "except the wagonway itself is not up and running yet brother" "uh, are you sure about that?" "don't play with me Arthur" "there goes our politically active man" he teased, as i dropped my hands in my coat pocket, trying to wear a serious expression he laughed heartily "you know that doesn't work on me right?" "I might have to carry you inside the carriage myself" "oh slow down, you are quite eager to see her aren't you?" he stated "what?, no... absolutely not" I left him and marched towards the carriages door, I didn't hesitate as I opened it immediately. I was met with two pairs of wide eyes that couldn't believe what they were seeing. "what are you doing here?" Eliza asked surprised "and what is that suppose to mean?" I spoke "a question, one that require a response, why are you here?" she spoke with an attitude I can't quite put my finger on I was about talking when Arthur climbed into the carriage "let's go" he tapped the carriage lighty I sat directly in front of her, I know I can be imposing when I want to, and with this woman I have to be, she frowned slightly and made a face, I didn't need to find out if Arthur saw that, cause I'm sure he didn't, he always got those sweet seductive smiles of her, while I on the other end get the glare downs, she is just too prejudicative. Arthur sat beside me glancing through the window every once in a while, that tells me there is a destination, so it was a stare contest between me and the sturbborn daredevil. she turned away from me and faced the window on the right side of the carriage, then suddenly "Arthur come look at this" she called out to him and knowing my brother for who he is, he'd never dissappoint, sometimes he is just too kind than required Arthur moved to her side of the chair, and stared out of the window with her "you like that view" he asked "of course I do silly" she tapped him playfully which only got me angry, I cleared my throat to reannounce my presence "hm hm" "you want to take a look too?" Arthur asked sarcastically "I'd pass" I heard Eliza mumble something to Arthur, something that gained a smile from his lips, and I'm having none of it. "I'm taking you to the blue muffin bakery" Arthur announced "blue muffin?, is that what they make?" Eliza asked out of curiosity, not that I blame her, blue muffin was sure a wierd name to give to a bakery "no they don't, it's a regular bakery, but the town's largest bakery, I do hope you'd like what they have to offer" Arthur supplied she inhaled deeply "I bet I would, I love bakeries, the smell of freshly baked pastries gives me joy" she closed her eyes and smiled contentedly she actually looks really beautiful, and to know she's in love with pastries is funny but nice in some ways, but I'm not backing down any moment from now.
