Detective Amina Mustapha slowly opened her eyes, her head pounding with a dull ache. She was lying on a cold, hard floor, her hands and feet bound with rope. She tried to move, but a sharp pain shot through her head, making her groan.
As her vision cleared, she saw Ahmed Al-Razi standing over her, a cold smile spreading across his face.
"Welcome back, Detective," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I've been waiting for you."
Amina's mind was racing. She was in trouble, big trouble. She knew she had to think fast if she wanted to get out of this alive.
"What do you want, Al-Razi?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Ahmed Al-Razi chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You know what I want, Detective. I want you to stop digging. Stop asking questions. Stop trying to find my daughter."
Amina's eyes narrowed. "I'm not going to do that," she said, her voice firm. "I'm going to find Fatima, and I'm going to expose you for the monster you are."
Ahmed Al-Razi's smile faltered, his eyes flashing with anger. "You're making a big mistake, Detective," he said, his voice low and menacing. "You don't know what you're dealing with."
Amina laughed, the sound echoing off the walls. "I know exactly what I'm dealing with," she said. "I'm dealing with a coward. A man who hides behind his money and his power. But you're not as powerful as you think you are, Al-Razi. You're just a small, insignificant man who will soon be brought to justice."
Ahmed Al-Razi's face turned red with rage, and he took a step closer to Amina. She could see the anger in his eyes, the desire to hurt her.
But Amina didn't flink. She looked up at him, her eyes cold and defiant.
Just as Ahmed Al-Razi was about to strike her, his phone rang, shattering the tension in the room. He answered it, his expression changing from anger to surprise.
"Yes?" he said, his voice cautious.
Amina couldn't hear the other end of the conversation, but she could tell it was someone important. Ahmed Al-Razi's eyes flicked to her, and he nodded, his expression calculating.
"Very well," he said, his voice cold. "I'll take care of it."
He hung up the phone and turned to Amina, a cruel smile spreading across his face.
"It seems you have a visitor, Detective," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "Someone who wants to see you."
Amina's heart skipped a beat as she heard footsteps approaching. The door opened, and a figure walked in.
It was Fatima Al-Razi.
Amina's eyes widened in shock as Fatima walked towards her. She looked unharmed, but her eyes were cold, her expression detached.
"Hello, Detective," she said, her voice flat. "I'm glad you're here."
Amina's mind was reeling. What was going on? Why was Fatima acting like this?
"Fatima, what's going on?" Amina asked, her voice urgent.
Fatima looked at her, her eyes expressionless. "I'm here to tell you that I'm fine, Detective," she said. "And I'm not going back to my family. I'm staying here, with my husband."
Amina's eyes widened in shock. Husband? What was Fatima talking about?
And then, it clicked. Ahmed Al-Razi's plan. He had married Fatima off to someone, probably a business associate, in order to secure his business deals.
Amina's anger boiled over. She struggled against her restraints, her eyes blazing with fury.
"You monster," she spat at Ahmed Al-Razi. "You used your own daughter to secure your business deals. You're despicable."
Ahmed Al-Razi smiled, his eyes cold. "I'm a businessman, Detective," he said. "I do what it takes to succeed."
Amina's eyes locked onto Fatima, who was watching her with a detached expression.
"Fatima, don't do this," Amina said, her voice urgent. "You don't have to do this. You can come with me, we'll get you out of here."
Fatima looked at her, her eyes flickering with emotion. For a moment, Amina thought she saw a glimpse of the old Fatima, the girl she had known.
But it was too late. Fatima turned away, her expression cold.
"I'm staying here, Detective," she said, her voice firm. "I'm where I belong."
Amina's heart sank. She knew she had lost. Ahmed Al-Razi had won.
As she was dragged away, Amina couldn't help but wonder what would happen next. Would she be able to escape? Would she be able to expose Ahmed Al-Razi's crimes?
Only time would tell.
