Chapter 1:The Missing Heiress
Detective Amina Mustapha stood outside the imposing gates of the Al-Razi mansion, her eyes scanning the surroundings with a mix of curiosity and unease. The sun was setting over the Lagos skyline, casting a golden glow over the affluent neighborhood. She had been a detective for five years, but something about this case felt different. Maybe it was the fact that the missing girl, Fatima Al-Razi, was from one of the most prominent families in Nigeria.
Amina took a deep breath and stepped out of her car, flashing her ID to the security guard as she walked towards the entrance. The guard, a burly man with a stern expression, nodded and opened the gate.
"Good evening, Detective. They're waiting for you inside."
Amina nodded and walked into the mansion, her eyes adjusting to the dim lighting. The interior was just as opulent as she had imagined, with marble floors and expensive artwork adorning the walls.
She was greeted by Fatima's father, billionaire businessman, Ahmed Al-Razi. He was a tall, imposing figure with a worried expression.
"Detective, thank you for coming. We're getting desperate. Fatima's been missing for 48 hours, and we haven't heard anything from her."
Amina nodded sympathetically, taking out her notebook. "I'll do everything I can to find her, sir. Can you tell me more about Fatima?"
Ahmed Al-Razi sighed, running a hand over his face. "She's a wonderful girl, Detective. Smart, kind, and determined. She was supposed to meet a friend for dinner two nights ago, but she never showed up."
Amina's ears perked up. "Do you have the name of the friend?"
"Yes, her name is Leila. Leila Okonkwo. Fatima told me she was meeting her at a restaurant in Victoria Island."
Amina made a note to contact Leila as she asked more questions about Fatima's disappearance. Ahmed Al-Razi seemed genuinely worried, but Amina's experience told her that people often hid secrets, even in the most seemingly perfect families.
As she finished her questions, a young woman appeared in the hallway, looking anxious. Ahmed Al-Razi nodded towards her.
"Detective, this is Fatima's sister, Amira. She was the one who last spoke to Fatima."
Amina's eyes locked onto Amira, who looked like she was about to cry.
"Amira, can I talk to you for a minute?" Amina asked gently.
Amira nodded, and Amina followed her to a quiet corner of the room.
"Amira, can you tell me about the last time you spoke to Fatima?" Amina asked, her voice soft.
Amira took a deep breath. "We were texting in the afternoon, and she told me she was meeting Leila for dinner. She sounded a bit stressed, but I didn't think much of it at the time."
Amina's eyes narrowed. "Stressed? Did she say why?"
Amira shook her head. "No, she just said she would tell me later. But she never did."
Amina's mind was racing with possibilities as she finished her conversation with Amira. She knew she had to find Leila and get more information about Fatima's disappearance.
As she left the Al-Razi mansion, Amina felt a sense of determination wash over her. She was going to find Fatima, no matter what it took.
