It was exactly 10 a.m., and both Maya and Eve barely got up. They've been so exhausted from yesterday's wedding. Eve rolled over and the sound of a doorbell woke her up.
"f**k!!! We missed our flight!!!!"
Eve screamed and Maya got up in a state of confusion.
"What's going on?" She asked, rubbing her eyes. "Look at the time, it's past ten!" Eve felt unease. She had commitments in New York.
and she can't get back this morning.
"Our flight is rescheduled for four o'clock," Maya said. Eve and Maya entered a taxi to the airport.
"I suppose you're new here in France" The driver glanced through the front mirror. "Let me give you a ride on the streets of Paris."
They enjoyed a smooth ride from Montmartre to Rue de Rivoli as they were impressed by the captivating view of the streets of Paris.
He then took the A16 highway towards Amiens and parked at the airport.
The entrance had a big inscription. The inscription read "Beauvais Airport."
"How much?" Maya asked looking through her purse.
"£150." The driver smiled.
"There you go. Merci!" Maya giggled as she extended the money from her purse.
"Let's go get some coffee," Eve said in excitement.
They had some coffee and headed for the gate. They stood at the airport gate sipping their coffee and pressing their phones in earnest.
"Argh!!" Eve groaned. Our flight got cancelled."
"I can't believe our flight got canceled," Maya said with frustration on her face.
An airline representative approached them
"Bonjour, Mesdemoiselles. We're so sorry for the inconvenience. We're offering a hotel stay and a rebooked flight tomorrow." She said calmly.
They glanced at each other in disappointment.
"So.. that means we're stuck in France. Paris isn't a bad place to get stuck." Eve shrugged.
As they turned to leave, someone called out "Eve!"
They saw a familiar face pushing towards them. It was Eric, Eve's college sweetheart. He finally caught up with them and was panting.
"Hey, how was the wedding?"
Eve smiled "It was it, good to see you again."
"Yeah... we just um... finished watching the game.. and umm...I was about heading home" He stuttered while staring at Maya.
"You okay?" Maya asked, squinting her eyes.
"Certainly." He replied. Eve stared at both of them in confusion and seemed lost at the moment.
"Okay, okay, okay what time's your flight anyway?"
"My flight's canceled". Eric sighed.
"You're welcome" Maya chuckled.
"Ours was canceled too, which means we're stuck."
"How about we hang out?" Maya said.
Eric glanced at Maya "I mean, if you're okay with it... I'm chill."
They checked into a hotel, ahead of tomorrow's flight. "How about we go clubbing?", Eve asks enthusiastically.
"Not bad, let's explore Paris!" Maya smiled.
"I'll go get Eric, I think he'll know his way around and he loves clubbing," Eve said as she reached for her lip gloss.
Eve wore a red crop top with blue jeans and Maya wore a jumpsuit that revealed her curves.
"Oui! Parisian nightlife is so interesting." His voice was exciting as they walked down the street.
They let Eric lead the way as their hearts were beating fast with anticipation. As Eric pushed the door, they were welcomed with lights and echoes from the party.
The party was in full swing as people moved their bodies to the beat of the music. The DJ was spinning tracks in a corner, which was filled with laughs and cheers from groups of boys in black.
"Woah!! Yeah!!! Ici cést Paris!!!" Someone yelled. "Let's party" the DJ screamed.
"Let's get something to drink, shall we?" Eve gestured pointing to the bar. I need a glass or two... Maybe three!!!"
Eric nodded as he held Eve on her waist while they followed her lead.
As they approached the bar, the bartender greeted them with a smile. His eyes seemed to be fixed on Eve's.
"Belle fille, what can I offer you?" He said smiling.
"I'll have a negroni" Eve smiled back.
Maya turned to Eve with a curious squint. "Really?, I'd love champagne."
"Eric?"
"A little bit of mojito and Martini.. just do your thing.
The bartender nodded and got to work.
As they waited, the boys in black were cheering and clinking their glasses.
They noticed a staggering guy in their midst.
He must have had too much to drink. His intoxicated state led to a heated argument which escalated and he got beaten. His face was a mug shot. He lay on the ground half-dead and the atmosphere was tense and quiet.
The beats faded and the lights seemed to deem. The bouncers had lost composure and began to scramble and control the situation as they came to carry him outside.
The DJ brought back the spirit of the party as he shouted "Allez! Let's party!!!!." The Colorful lights brightened up and the DJ spun hard.
"Damn, that was...crazy!!" Maya spoke out.
"Never seen this in my whole life. Paris was worth it."
The vibe of the party came back. With screams and cheers and people dancing to the music on the dance floor.
"There you go, mademoiselle," said the bartender as he poured the mixture into the glass.
Eve, Maya, and Eric picked up their glasses. Maya paid the bartender "Merci", and she giggled.
"Cheers to Paris, and unexpected adventures."
They clinked them together, taking a toast.
Eric's eyes scanned through the room as he took a sip from his glass.
Maya nodded as the music pulsed through the room and the energy seemed to return.
