The Mystery Boy

Chapter 3

It was the next day and I hadn't slept all that well again. This was really starting to become a problem. I guess I was more upset about what happened yesterday at school. I couldn't stop thinking about it all night. My phone started to ring and I immediately knew who it was. I didn't feel like talking because Moriah might notice something is wrong with me. I didn't want to worry her so I declined the call and texted Moriah instead.

Caroline: Sorry for not answering. I haven't been sleeping well so I need to try to regain my energy before school. Sorry again :(

Immediately the phone rang again. Didn't she get my message? I gave up and answered the phone anyway.

" Moriah didn't you get my message? I asked her

" Yeah I got it, but something is wrong with you. You only start sending messages in the morning when your in a bad mood."

Of course she'd notice. She is my best friend after all. 

" I'll get over it, don't worry okay?"

" Your a stubborn b***h aren't you. FINE, I'll forget about it. But you better feel better soon or I'm coming to your house with Cassie and she'll wash your hair with body wash." Moriah joked

This was something personal that Cassie and Moriah had known about but when I was younger, I would mistake the body wash for shampoo and would wash my hair with the body wash.

" Yes I hear you, I'll fix my mood."

" That's my girl, now go have a nice day at school today okay?"

"Yes, I'll try my best to. Bye." I said quickly

"Bye Caroline" Moriah said so sweetly

I cherished her friendship so dearly

After we hung up the phone I took a quick shower I grabbed my bad and two books. When I made my way downstairs my mother was already waiting for me and we headed to the car. Luckily today she could take me to school instead of me walking. Walking wasn't terrible, but i just felt more comfortable driving with my mother since I had been doing it with her for awhile now.

My mother told me to have a nice day and I kissed her on the cheek before leaving for school. I wanted my parents to feel good since they do a lot for me so I give them little gestures like this. I wanted them to know how much I appreciate all they do for me. I know I act all sad about their job sometimes, so I want them to know I love them and everything they do for me. I guess this is why I usually follow their rules and act obedient. 

It was time for my first class with Mr. Steiner which was history. It was the same thing as yesterday, easy work, and no Ezekiel. He was the only student absent but for some reason it seemed to really bother Mr. Steiner that he wasn't in class. None of the other teachers made a big deal about missing student, but Mr. Steiner did. I wonder why.

I've been to a few other classes and now it is time for lunch. I went to eat outside today. I wanted to avoid another bad situation as much as possible. I found a bench in the middle of the courtyard inside the school area and sat down there. About 10 minutes later I hear someone scream my name.

"Hey is that you Caroline?" Someone shouted

Who could that be? I turned around to see who was calling my name and unexpectedly I saw the girl I helped yesterday with school work

"Um hello, your name is Ally right?"

"Yeah it is. I saw you out here so I decided to come say hi."

" Oh that was kind of you. Well hello." I said awkwardly

I was still kind of shocked. I wasn't really expecting to see her today

Ally just giggled at my awkward response

"You seem shy. You shouldn't be, a lot of people here would like you. Especially the cheerleading squad. Your real pretty and you dress well." 

"I appreciate your compliments, your very pretty as well. Your curly blonde hair is very nice" I said earnestly

"See what I mean, your're really cool. We should hang out some more." Ally said

"I'd like that." I said with a smile on my face

After we talked some more about school I noticed that she didn't have any food for lunch.

" Ally you can have some of my fruit if you don't have anything to eat" I offered her

"Don't worry about me, I ate snacks in class earlier" she said so casually

Does she do this often? She made it sound like it was normal. I would never dare eat in the middle of class. I'd be scared of getting caught and getting in trouble.

"You know what we should do? We should throw a party to introduce you to everyone at the school so people can find out who you are!"

A party? I've only been to one and I got into trouble for it so I never went to another one

"I don't know if my parents will allow me to go to another party..."

"Oh come on, it will only be a few people. You have to comeeeeee. Everyone is going to want to meet the pretty new girl. I really want to do this for you. And hopefully it will turn us into good friends. At least ask them, Pleaseeeeeee." Ally pleaded

I couldn't refuse her. She was trying so hard to do a nice thing for me and I didn't want her efforts to go to waste.

" Okay I'll ask them if I can go" I said

"Thank you!!!" Ally said as she hugged me

"Come on, I have to go ask someone something for the party

I followed Ally as she led me into the school building and toward....

The cafeteria

"Um Ally, why are we going into there?" I asked not wanting to go in

" I'm just looking for someone so I can ask them something"

I just followed her and found my way into the cafeteria. I quickly looked around but I didn't see the two boys from yesterday. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in. We finally stopped at a lunch table with 5 other people. Ally introduced me. I guess these were her friends. She grabbed one of the guys named Marlon. 

"Come with us Caroline" She said as she took Marlon outside the cafeteria

Once we made it outside, Marlon took Ally and pressed her against the lockers and started kissing her. I just stood there shocked. I didn't know Ally had a boyfriend but still, we were in school.

"Um, Ally, I'm sorry, do I need to leave you guys alone?" I said awkwardly while interrupting them

"Wait don't leave Caroline, Marlon is just a horny bastard." She said while pulling away from Marlon

"You started it by pulling me out here" Marlon said with a wide grin on his face

I still just stood there awkwardly from the whole situation

"I pulled you out here to ask you for a favor dumbass" Ally told Marlon

"What's the favor?" He asked

" I need to borrow your house so I can throw a party for the new girl"     

" What do I get in return?" He asked with a grin on his face

"Don't be a smartass" She said hitting him playfully

 "Alright, you can use the house. But you have to wait until next week when my parents go on their anniversary date. They'll be gone for two days at a hotel."

"Thank you Marlon!" Ally said gleefully as she hugged him

"See you later new girl" He said as he walked back into the cafeteria

"Goodbye" I said

"Alright now that things are settled. I just have to spread the word. I'll see you later. And here, take this. It's my number." She said as she handed me a piece of paper

"Thank you Ally" I said

"No problem, it was my pleasure." 

1 week later

Ally: Meet me at the store after school so we can go to Marlon's house together

Caroline: Okay I'll be there!

To be completely honest, it was really exciting getting to go to a party again/ I had only been to the one but now that my parents approved of it, i feel much better about going. I was walking outside the house when I saw the same boy who runs by my house all the time. Like why did you he even have to run so much? He's obviously obsessed with fitness and health but doesn't he ever get tired of it? I guess its what he likes to do.

After history class (1st period)

"Caroline could you stay after class for a second" Mr. Steiner asked

"Yes of course" I walked towards his desk  "What is it Mr. Steiner?"

"Well, in this particular class, you are one of our top performers. I mean you've had amazing grades before you even came to this school, but its only been a week and you aced a test you've barely studied for. I know this may be a large request and I understand if you refuse. but do you think you could help my nephew Ezekiel out with his school work? It's not that he isn't smart, but as you can see, he doesn't even show up for school. If I could get him to at least show up to speak to me then I would like you to be there as well to motivate him maybe. I just don't want him to give his life to something that's worthless. I want him to succeed but he wants to go down a different path. So what do you think?"

Ezekiel is his nephew?

What?

This must be why he is always so disappointed when he isn't in class.

"I am sorry to ask such a personal question Mr. Steiner, but, the kid who's name you always call out is your nephew?" I asked wanting even more confirmation

"Well not by blood, I call him that because of family business that brought me and his dad close. I call him nephew as a term but we're not related."

I guess he still cares about him despite not being his family, but I feel bad for Mr. Steiner because I can tell he really cares about this kid Ezekiel.

"Okay, if I ever meet him with him then I can do my best to try and get him on course for school" I said

"Oh Caroline, I couldn't thank you more. Thank you so much" He said with a look of relief on his face

"Ill be going now. Goodbye Mr. Steiner" I said with a smile

"Goodbye and have a nice day Caroline" He said as he waved

After the rest of my classes, school had ended and I went straight for the store. I was so excited so I went immediately to find Ally. Once me and her met at the store, we went to the house and waited for everyone to show up. 

"You ready Caroline?" Ally asked

"Yes I am. Thank you so much for doing this even though you didn't have to." I said whole heartedly

"It the least I could do. You need a proper greeting into the new area don't you?"

Just as Ally said that, Marlon came back inside the house. He was outside for some reason

"A lot of people are waiting outside. Are you guys ready to let them in?" He asked

"Yeah you can let people in. Come with me Caroline" Ally said

Marlon put on some music then yelled for everyone to come in, and the house was rushed in by hundreds of peoples. They were all waiting outside? At the same time Ally was leading me upstairs to a railing. And then out of nowhere....

" Can I get everyone's attention please!" Ally yelled

" Good now, this whole party was thrown for my new friend Caroline, aka the new girl. Some of you may have met her and most of you have not. This was all for her so have a good ass time and drink for my girl Caroline!" Ally yelled again

After Ally's speech, everyone started yelling and holding their cups in the air. Everyone was ready to party. What could go wrong right? 

Just as I say that, 4 people walk through the door and the air leaves the whole house.
