Chapter Three

1056 Words
Kim’s eyes flashed open the monument he regained consciousness, “Oww what the f**k happened!?” Kim thought as his hand went to his head and he began to sit up in his bead. His eyes looked around his room checking to see if anything was amiss. Then the events that he just went through came flooding back to him like a hurricane smashing into a house. His breathing immediately went haywire, then sweat began forming bullets all over his face slowly dripping down. He couldn’t believe it, couldn’t believe that he died. Then like a flare going off in the night his hand shot downwards towards his foot. At first, he would have sworn it was gone, but upon further investigation, he couldn’t find anything wrong with his foot or anything wrong with his body at all. He felt better than he had in his entire life suddenly.“What the hell is going on here?” Kim said out loud to no one, then as if the world had heard his very plea a small blue and black colored screen appeared before his face. “Welcome Player - Kim Young; Player Number - 1,000,000,001; Attempt - 2; Say Status To Begin The Tutorial:” Kim stared at the words written on the screen, he remembered seeing something similar when the Cravion chopped his head off, but he could only faintly remember what it looked like. He had been too focused on the light from the moon, wondering how his view had gotten there. Then suddenly driven to follow the command written on the screen Kim said quietly but aloud.“Status” Immediately the screen that had been sitting in front of him vanished and in its place appeared a similar but more detailed screen. “Name - Kim Young; Age - 23; Height - 181cm; Race - Human; Class - ???; Level - 1; Skill Points - 0; Player - 1,000,000,001; Attempt - 2” “Strength - 10 ← →” “Dexterity - 10 ← →” “Consitution - 10 ← →” “Intelligence - 10 ← →” “Wisdom - 10 ← →” “Charisma - 10 ← →” “Skills - , , Kim Couldn’t believe his eyes, every detail about his life and his body was sitting before him in numerical values. In a way, it was kinda disturbing and made Kim shudder a little. Sure he knew that he was pretty average but if this was a dungeons and dragons campaign then he would be the definition of b***h basic. That’s when the second screen appeared just slightly to the right of the first one. “This is your status screen, you can add points to your stats here. This will use the stat points you receive after a level up.” Kim just stared at this screen wondering if he was high. This couldn’t be real life, sure he could understand being a player but there had never been a player that said anything about the system explaining to the player how to use it. That’s when it dawned on Kim, the system said his player number was one billion and one. But if he remembered right the Gods said that one billion people would be selected as players. What was going on here? “Skills will be gained after you complete quests in the tower please make your way there now!” The system continued explaining how it worked not giving Kim any time to ponder what was going on. Then after that message, the system window disappeared leaving Kim alone with his thoughts. “Status,” Kim said out loud after taking a second to get out of bed, get dressed into a t-shirt and jeans, and sitting down on his couch. Then just like before all the information that now governed Kim’s entire existence appeared before him. Kim once again just stared at it not knowing what to do with this new information. In the end, he just started trying random things and found out that he could make the screen go away simply by swishing his hand at it. “Riiing, Riiing, Riiing” Kim’s phone began blaring from his coat pocket on the back of the couch, causing Kim to nearly jump out of his skin. After realizing what was going on and fumbling with his coat and then his phone for a few seconds Kim answered the call. “Hello?” Kim said not sure who was calling due to failing to read the caller ID. In his defense, it had been a few very hectic seconds. “Kim I swear to gods if you do not get your sorry a*s to work your fired!!” Kim could hear his manager screaming at him from the top of his lungs. Somehow Kim was alive, waking up from his bed in a non destroyed house and his manager was calling him like everything was normal. After these thoughts passed through his head he quickly hung up on his manager and turned on the closet news channel. “And we see here that the Sword Guild attack team has returned after clearing the 25th floor, that’s the top guild in the world for you!! This historic achievement has been set in stone today, I think people will remember June 20th for years to come as one of the hardest tower-fought victories ever. My name is Sung Woo Signing off for Seoul TV News.” Kim just sat there completely in disbelief, this was the same news that he had seen while at work before he left to see his sister. “This can’t be happening! I can’t be in the past!” These thoughts quickly passed through Kim’s head as he sat there, eyes focused on the tv. That’s when it hit him the dungeon break was still going to happen and he had no way of stopping it! He had to tell someone anyone who could stop his home and potentially the hospital his sister was at from being destroyed.
