Celestine's POV:
I smiled at the seven year old Becky as I finished bandaging her hand. It got pretty messed up due to all the fighting she does with her brother. She smiled at me sweetly and tugged at the sleeve of my blouse to pull me down. I bent down and she kissed me cheek. I caressed her hair and she ran off towards her room. Her mother Casie thanked me politely and left me alone. It had been three weeks since I've started coming here with Lucian. He leaves me in his office and goes off to do whatever he does.
I, on the other hand, use my time to be with people who make me happy. I missed Evangeline. There was no sign of her. I went towards the dining table when I realized that John, the three year old toddler, who loved to be fed breakfast by me had gone off to play. There was still time for lunch so I decided to swing by the primary school. The kids there made my heart warm. They were little bundles of joy moving here and there. They listened intently to every word I taught and nodded at me.
By the time I finished teaching, their tongues were out in greed of the chocolate I had brought for them. It was a gift I always gave them. It felt good to make people happy. The pack members were the only one that gave me happiness and courage to bear the annoying Lycan Lucian. I hurried off to the pack house so as to not be late for lunch. Everybody here tries their best to eat their meals together and talk with each other.
I smiled at Pierce as he caught me entering the pack house. Pierce is a guard who is supposed to protect me wherever I go though I'm not allowed to go anywhere. My stomach grumbled as the smell of food reached my nose and I followed it to the kitchen. Pete, the chef, tilted his head in a familiar way warning me to not steal food for the umpteenth time. I smiled and slowly picked a piece of cake and ran away.
The people here were so kind and welcoming, at least the children and the elderly, it felt good to run everywhere and feel free. But they couldn't dissolve the pain I felt when I remembered all my hardship through all these years. I wasn't sure whether I could stay unhappy every time I returned to his house. I had lost control over my life to the man I never wanted to see ever. He is the reason of my every grief.
I quietly wiped my tears as Mel came to me and said that her daughter was sick and she was asking for me.
Lucian's POV:
Ugh, the meeting was exhausting. It went for three hours straight and we still haven't reached the conclusion yet. I hate to use my rank but this man forces me to use it every time, including this one too. As soon as I left the room I looked at the main hall where she usually watches drama while eating. And she wasn't in the kitchen. I followed her scent down the hallway to a room of a pack member and stopped at a distance from where she couldn't smell me.
"So where were we?" She asked in a playful tone.
"The main day."
"I think you should go to sleep now honey."
"No I want to hear the story. I like the girl."
"Okay so the main day came and like every other girl she also awaited her soulmate. The one who would love her and cherish her. The one who would treat her like their most precious thing. She looked over the entire event for the one man but couldn't find him anywhere. She had already lost hope and she sat down and that's when an amazing smell filled her senses, urging her to follow it. Turns out that it was the scent of the most unexpectable person. Her eyes widened and heart started pounding when she met his eyes. She felt every cell of her body come alive and the only thing she wanted to do was to flung herself in the stranger's arms."
"Did they live happily after?" asked the kid.
"No they didn't. She was so happy and focused on him that her eyes failed to notice the woman sitting beside him. She felt her heart crumple in pain when he turned his head and kissed her. She ran away from there. The pain was too much for her to bear. She cried and cried and then decided to not ruin her life for a scumbag." I narrowed my eyes as I had a pretty good idea about who the scumbag was.
"She left her pack and went far away where her pains wouldn't come back to her. As much as she wanted, nothing could fill the hollow inside her and neither could she forget her pain. With every passing hour she could feel a part of her soul slowly wither away. At one point, she had come to terms that this is how she has to live now. But turns out that Destiny had yet to throw her card. One day, she went to work because that was the only place where she could concentrate. She loved to work, to have a purpose in life. But, on that particular day she was nervous. Her mind was on edge and her legs were taking her fast towards the building on their own."
"Did her soulmate come to meet her?" I heard a sigh.
"No he didn't care about her. It was just a coincidence but it was enough to give the girl a shock. She saw that man standing in front of her, whom she had spent years to forget. Just when she thought that she had a chance of being even a tad bit happy the man who killed a part of her arrived in front of her and forcefully took her with him."
"So did he fall in love with her afterwards?"
"No he didn't. He just used her for his own motives and forced her to stay with him and hurt her taking away every chance of her living her life."
"Does the girl hate him or Did she forgive him and start loving him?"
For some reason even I was eager to know the answer.
"She didn't-" Suddenly my phone rang and I released the breath I was holding. There was no use hiding so I walked towards the door as Celestine stepped out. I looked at her eyes as they were still calculating whether I could hear her or not.
"Let's go." I said her like always in a passive tone.
'Ask her whether she loves us.' My wolf urged me.
'No I won't.'
'Aren't you even a little curious?'
'No.'
'Liar. She won't like us because of what you did to her. She hates us all because of you.'
Our little arguing session was interrupted by the grumbling of a stomach. Her face was flushed and she looked at anywhere but me. She looked adora..I stopped myself before I could complete the thought. This was all nonsense. It was all because of my Lycan. She means nothing to me.
'Or does she?' I gulped ignoring that little statement.
