When I was about to get my keys and head to the garage where my car was parked, I stumbled upon a certain book that had a picture in it.
I just ignored it at first because I was in a hurry and I wanted to be in the office before everybody started to arrive one by one. As I started the engine and was ready to step on the clutch, I suddenly stopped. I don't know why, but my conscience drags me to get out of my car and get the damned book that I already forgot.
I picked up the book without looking at the picture that was inserted into it because my mind was preoccupied with the draft that I made and headed straight to my car and started the engine right away.
When I drove my car, I was caught up in traffic, something or someone I think got into an accident. I mean, it's just a guess because I did not get out of my car, I just waited for my turn and prayed that I would be out in the traffic that took place on the highway, which is rare to happen.
The first time that I was caught up in the traffic. In my 5 years working at the company and 5 years of driving my car, I've never been in traffic because I always leave the house before 7 am. So, meaning this whole thing, tested my patience, which I guess half of it I won, but half of it I was pissed off.
I am cool despite the fact that I'm stuck in traffic for about 30 minutes now. My God, where the hell are the traffic police officers? I haven't seen one, people are starting to get pissed off.
However, before the volcano erupts in no time, my eyes caught attention of a certain book that I stumbled upon. While waiting for me to go forward in the bumper-to-bumper traffic, I pick up the book and turn the page where the picture is inserted.
I was in awe upon seeing the picture, because I thought I'd already thrown it a long time ago. But I was wrong, the picture is still on the page of the book where I left off.
My heart started to ache. It is not my intention to reminisce about the past, but when I see the picture, everything falls back into its place where I had already left behind and moved on.
Tears suddenly fell, but before I burst out and cried, it was already my turn to get out into my lane and drive straight ahead to the office.
I temporarily forget the feeling when I step out of my car. One of my colleagues is in the parking lot. Before I arrived and on the way to the office, I called Sophia to wait for me in the parking lot because I needed to get the strategic plan that she had on her USB.
Sophia Turner is one of my confidantes, not just an office mate but, of course, a b***h. Well, she's totally a chick, a body that you can wish for and drool. Sorry for that description, but honestly, that's true.
I love her because she is true to everyone. I mean she knew how frank I am, but she still knew how to manage my attitude and she understood it. She's a rocking chick that can make your life miserable. No, I'm kidding. She's totally a friend to keep.
When Sophia saw me, she instantly knew that I had cried. "What's wrong?" Sophia asked.
I just nodded and got the USB that she handed me. I was so silent when we were walking through the hallways until I reached and arrived at my solemn and sometimes chaotic office.
Even though I have heavy feelings, it did not put me in a situation where I have to ruin my own beautiful day. Yes, I am affected and don't need to be affected, or else it's the end of my career.
I love my job, I love my co-workers and I love my team. Without them, I would not be where I am right now. Thanking them for what I received and accomplished is not enough though. So I did not need some melodrama, crying and asking myself why it happened when I had already given it all to the person I loved but somehow managed to cut the ties because he was fed up.
When I saw the picture, I knew to myself that I hadn't moved on yet because I still felt that, even if it is already two years past.
Everything in the picture signifies how happy we were before. We had these strong bonds that I thought they would not break. I was so madly in love with him that I decided to risk everything and fight for what I believed.
What happened to us was out of my control. I was so blinded that I never saw it coming -- it was like an earthquake that shatters the whole building without knowing that it would happen there and then.
I was terrified and unprepared. I thought it was a joke that I needed to laugh at. But I was wrong, it's a joke that people need to cry because of too much laughing. I laughed loudly because it hurt so much that the guy that I was with for 3 years would be the guy that would hurt my feelings and stab me with depression.
I know I have to forget the past, but how can I forget it if I am staring at the picture that I am holding now?
My God, how I wish I could tell him that I still love him despite the fact that I don't have any news about him. I'm not a hypocrite, but yes, I am still longing for him. Maybe because there are questions that need to be answered and closed at the same time.
