Chapter 7: Bonds and Rivalries Back at the Spirit Pavilion, the disciples celebrated their success. Shu’s display of power didn’t go unnoticed, and whispers about his potential spread. However, not everyone was impressed. Wei Rong, a prodigy known for his mastery of fire techniques, viewed Shu as an upstart. “Luck doesn’t make you strong,” Wei sneered during a sparring session. Shu, despite his usual optimism, felt anger bubbling inside. He challenged Wei to a duel, determined to prove himself. The match was intense, with Wei’s fiery strikes clashing against Shu’s unpredictable powers. At a critical moment, Shu’s rune activated, creating a shield that deflected Wei’s attack. Though the duel ended in a draw, Master Tian intervened, warning Shu about relying solely on his divine gift. “True cultivation requires discipline, not just raw power,” he said. Despite their rivalry, Lian Hua noticed Shu’s growing confidence. She began to see him not just as a lucky fool but someone with untapped potential. --- Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past One night, Shu was drawn to an ancient part of the Pavilion—an abandoned hall filled with faded murals. Among the depictions of battles and celestial beings, one image caught his eye: a figure bearing a rune identical to his, standing atop a shattered world. As Shu reached out to touch the mural, a voice resonated in his mind. “The legacy is a burden, child. Do you have the strength to carry it?” Shu felt a surge of memories that weren’t his—a golden palace, a world bathed in light, and a betrayal that led to its downfall. He woke up in his room, drenched in sweat. The experience left him shaken but also more curious about the World God’s story. Master Tian noticed Shu’s distracted demeanor and warned him. “The past can guide you, but obsession will lead to ruin. Focus on the present.” Shu took the advice to heart, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that his destiny was intertwined with the ancient images he had seen. - end of chapter 7-8
