KAIA’S POV The forest felt endless. Branches scraped against each other above us as we walked. My boots crunched against the damp earth as I trailed behind Leander and Theron, Athena following right behind us. They walked side by side, leading us deeper into the woods. Athena's eyes were sharp, flicking left and right as if she expected danger to leap out of the shadows at any second. And I didn't blame her, considering the purpose of our mission here. “It’s been a while since either of you were here,” I said, breaking the silence.
