KAIA’S POV
By the time we stepped back onto the main pack grounds, the air felt lighter than it had been earlier. Even though the weight of what we’d done still remained, the familiar sight of the training field and the houses beyond grounded me again, reminding me that this was home.
Athena stopped, adjusting her cloak. “I'll have to leave you children now," she announced. “There’s still much I must prepare before tomorrow.”
Leander gave her a nod, but before I could even respond, she was already striding away, disappearing past the pack house.
Everett appeared almost at once, his eyes focused on Leander as he approached. “Hey, guys.” He waved quickly at me and Theron before returning his attention to Leander. “Hey, you need to come with me. The elders are asking for you.”
