KAIA’S POV I was literally tearing my room apart. Pillows were flying off the bed. My drawer handles were halfway ripped from how fast I yanked them open. I even checked under the bed twice, as if the necklace would magically appear the second time. “I know I put it in my pocket,” I muttered to myself, flipping through the jacket I wore yesterday. “Where is it?” My heart pounded. I remembered clearly, I had the necklace when I left Elder Agatha’s place. I’d slipped it into my pocket myself. But now? It was gone. A cold sweat spread over my neck.
