KAIA’S POV My eyes continued to move between a very calm Leander and a very seething Gareth. Deep down, a cold, heavy knot twisted in my stomach. I knew Gareth too well, and nothing about the look on his face right now told me this would end well. Gareth stepped forward, his boots crunching over twigs and dead leaves, and his jaw set so tight I thought it might snap. Then he tapped Leander’s shoulder. It wasn’t in a gentle or casual way.
