LEANDER'S POV The car remained silent. Everett’s hands drummed on the wheel, his gaze fixed on the road ahead, but every so often his eyes flicked sideways at me in quick glances that held more questions than words. I could feel his curiosity building. He wanted to ask more. And come to think of it, he almost always did when he caught the edge of something I was holding back. But Everett was careful.
