KAIA'S POV The path back home felt quieter than usual. Or maybe it was just me. I kept my head down, my thoughts revolving around what Athena had told me. My heart was still recovering from all the secrets these past few hours, and my arm still ached from the smoke treatment. I was so deep in thought that I almost didn’t hear the footsteps behind me until they got closer. I turned, and my brow furrowed as my eyes landed on Gareth. He stepped out from between two trees, blocking the path ahead.
