Chapter 5

April 1958
I was going on my third date with Ricky. He let me know he was going to be working late. So, he would have me out late. Not that I minded to much. I would be tired from work the next day but that would be a small price to pay to be out with my dream man again.
Right now, he was all I could think about. I could not wait to hear his voice on the phone. Or see him smile my way. Feel his arms wrap around me. I was getting addicted to the man.
Ricky called me each night when we could not be together. He would send me flowers or candy grams. They were so romantic. I shared them with Mary Ellen.
Because a girl has to watch her girlish figure, right? I wanted to look my best for my guy. I sang to myself as I double check my curly hair in the mirror. I was so happy right now.
I felt it. I looked like I was glowing. Pretty soon Easter was coming up. Family was going to want me to come to dinner. I would see Avery. She planned on coming home for the holidays. I was not sure if I should ask Ricky to come as my date yet. Or wait on that. It might be awkward for Ricky and myself.
Avery included.

"Will I ever see you again?" teases Mary Ellen as she glances in my bedroom.
"Sorry you will. I swear, I am so sorry I have not been being a good friend to you" I say.
She smiles. "I get it. I did that to you when I started seeing Corey. Pay backs huh?" she teases me.
I smile. "Not at all. Just things are getting heavy and serious so fast. He makes me feel so happy" I admit to her with a grin.
"So, have you two talked about Avery?" she asks. "and have you done it?"
I feel my cheeks blushing now. I shake my head. "Not that it is any of your business, I did not do anything with Ricky yet. And yes, we talked about Avery" I tell her.
"Why did they break up?" she begs to know.
"Well apparently he asked her to marry him. When things got to serious then Avery bailed on him. She wanted to date other people. And not be tied down. She took off on him" I ramble on as I explain things to her. I stick a bobby pin in my hair.
"I hate to say this, but do you think that dating you is a way to get over Avery for Ricky?" asks Mary Ellen softly.
Her words make my heart sink.
Though I had thought about this before.

I shake my head. "He told me that is not the case. We talked things over"
"Good but becareful okay? I know how much you loved him and hated seeing him with Avery before. Don't get hurt again" she warns me.
I glance her way. "I will. I am" I add.
She smiles. "And I am happy for you and Ricky. I do hope it all works out"
"Me to" I giggle. She hugs me. There is a knock on the door.
"He is here" she reminds me.
We head to the door. I open the door. There he stands all dressed up. He looked fantastic.
He has a happy grin on his face.

He smiles at Mary Ellen to. "Hi ladies" he greets us.
"I will get out of the way. Hi Ricky" she answers before heading out of the living room.
He pulls me in his arms for a hug. I wrap my arms around him. He smelled so fantastic. I breath him in as he holds me close to his body. His arms were so warm. I feel his chest on mine. I feel my n*****s harden through my shirt.
I try to ignore all these feelings he was giving to me. He pulls me back then his gaze falls on me. He looks me up and down checking me out. He smiles looking happy to see me. Then our lips meet. He groans softly as he kisses me.
My hands are wrapped around him. He pulls me closer to his body. I can feel every inch of him on my body. The craving I had for him grows deeper being close to him again.
I loved being with him. I know Mary Ellen said take things slow. But I was already in love. I always had been. I had to hide it from him. Until I really knew how he felt for me. If he was truly over my sister Avery.

"Ready for our date?" he asks me.
I nod. "Yes I am. Where are we going?" I ask him.
"Planetarium. We are going to see a star show. It is supposed to be neat. I rented it out so we would be alone. And could watch the show. And after we will grab a bite to eat" he says to me.
"Sounds fun" I say with a smile.
"Great let's go!" he tells me happily.
"See you later Mary Ellen" I say to my roomie. "Bye"
"Bye have fun Ricky and Willow" she answers as we head out.
We head out to his car. He opens the door for me. I hop in. Then he gets in. He has me scoot closer, so he can put his arm around my shoulder once he was in the car with me. He starts the car. Then we head into the next town over.
It was a bigger town. Where the new Planetarium was located at. I wondered what it was like. Corey had taken Mary Ellen before. She loved it. She said it was really neat. I sink into Ricky's side as his arm drapes over my shoulder.
Then before we know it, we are there. He parks in the parking lot. Very close. It was nice. Not a single car in sight. Ricky was famous so he got to do a lot of things us normal folks could never do.
Then Ricky makes me wait he gets out of the car. Opens my car door though I was so close to his side of the car anyway. He holds his hand out for me to take. He helps me out.
I giggle. He grins. He pulls me in his embrace.
He kisses me on the lips.

"You sure do look fantastic tonight" he whispers to me as he touches my cheek with his hand while I look up at him. "I missed you this week when I had to work"
I smile back. 'I have been missing you to"
His lips fall back to mine. His lips were so soft on mine. He was the best kisser I ever had before. I was tingling from head to toe from these kisses. Our lips finally part then he smiles at me. He looks like he wants to say something but holds back.
"What?" I ask softly.
He shakes his head. "Nothing. We better get going or we will be late for the show" he says. He offers his arm to me. Then he leads me on in the building.
They let us in. We get middle seats where we can see everything.
"Where will the lights be at?" I whisper to him.
"Hi folks my name is Harry. You look right up there, and the show will begin when the lights turn off" he explains to us. "Enjoy the show" he replies before heading off.
We scoot down in our chairs. Ricky puts his arm back around my shoulder. He glances over at me. He smiles. He still looks like he has something to say. I wondered what was on his mind.
"Something up?" I ask.
"Want to go out next week?" he asks. "I am going to be off Friday" he tells me.
I wince. "I have to head home Thursday. Friday is good Friday. Easter" I remind him.
"Oh" he winces. "I forgot Easter was coming up here"
"Me to" I tell him.
"I still want to get together with you before you go" he offers.
"I would love that" I agree eagerly.
"Before the world began the world was not born. The world was in darkness" a deep voice booms on the speakers overhead. The lights go off.
I could not hear Ricky the speakers were so loud overhead.

"The show is starting" I tell Ricky happily.
Soon we go into the show. After the program then there was a light show. With music. It was so very cool. I loved every moment of it. By the time the show was over with I was clapping with delight when the lights come up.
I smile. I had a great time. I glance over and see Ricky had fallen asleep. His head was resting on my shoulders. He looked so adorable there asleep on me. I ruffle his hair with my hand. That did not wake him.
I lean in and kiss him on the lips.
I feel him return my kisses. He was awake now!

He is smiling at me after the kiss ends. "I am sorry. I was tired from work. I fell asleep" he yawns.
"No worries. The show was great" I tell him.
"Want to go grab a bite to eat?" he offers.
I nod. "I would love to" I agree.
He leads me out of there after he pays the workers. And we head over to a malt shop that had a drive through. We order food. I feed him bites of fries. We were really having a good time tonight. I hated to see tonight end. When I might not get to see him next week due to Easter coming!
"Willow?" Ricky speaks up.
"Yes?"
"Can I come with you for Easter?" he offers. "We could spend the whole weekend together. Have time to get to know each other"
"Really?" I breath out. "I wanted to ask. But I was worried" I admit. "I was not sure if you would want to come"
He frowns as he sips his drink. "Why?" he asks me.
"Avery. She might be there" I remind him. "won't it be to soon to see her?" I worry.
He touches my cheek with his hand. "I am over her. And I am with you" he reminds me. "It would be fine. I would like to see your family again. Avery would not bother me a bit"
My heart soars with joy. "You really want to go with me at Easter?" I remind him.
"Yes" he answers.
"Alright" I agree. "You have a date for Easter" I tease.
He smiles. "I can't wait" he whispers. He leans in then kisses me on the lips. He pulls back. "I am not into Avery. I have eyes for only one girl. And she is right here. Right in front of me" he reminds me. "I will always be glad to remind you of that until your heart can believe it" he says.
His words touch my heart. "Ricky you are so sweet" I say softly.
"I meant it" he adds.
I swoop in kissing him on the lips. He tasted like dill pickles and ketchup. But I did not mind.
"Did you have fun tonight?" he asks after the kiss ends.
I nod. "I always have the best time when I am with you" I answer.
He looks pleased. I meant every word I said.
I always did.
