Kristen's POV
The last time I felt this hurt and broken, tears filled my eyes when I was only twelve. My father tortured me for talking to the retainers. It was worse than this, but this hurt differently. I curled up against the cold walls, crying in the darkness.
I didn't know when I fell asleep. When I woke up, the silence was deafening. I had no clue how long I'd been there. It was cold, and wherever I was sitting hurt my body. The ground was hard and sticky. The chilly air made me shiver. All I could do was stay in the darkness for a long time.
Suddenly, the large, old door made a loud squeak, and a strong light flooded the space. I had to cover my eyes from the brightness. When I adjusted to the surroundings, I saw Adacus.
My breath caught in my throat as his towering figure moved closer. He was so tall that I had to look up. His presence felt overwhelming, filled with emotions I recognized as hate and sickness. Clutching my dress, I fought the urge to cry.
"Let's get one thing straight. I've only one woman in my life, and that's Shelly, and no one else," his voice cut through the air, more brutal than the fiercest wind. "You mean nothing to me, Kristen Reign. Absolutely nothing!" Each word pierced me, echoing in my head, confusing me.
"I have many rules for my pack. Everyone must follow them, including you. If you follow these rules, your stay here will be bearable," he spoke, his voice deep but smooth. It was cold, but I could listen to it all day.
I didn't say anything. I couldn't trust my voice. Instead, I listened, obeying him like a submissive wolf. "First, speak only when spoken to. Second, don't leave your chambers without my permission. Third, only come to my office when called, and never enter my chambers. Fourth, don't leave the castle without my permission. Lastly, stay away from Shelly. That's a warning."
His intense hatred made me stare in disbelief. Without hesitation, he turned away, heading to the door. "W-Why?" I asked, feeling hurt and broken. "Why, Adacus? I'm your mate."
He stopped, turned back, and in an instant, he was upon me, but not in the way I wanted. His strong grip tightened around my neck, slamming me against the harsh wall. "H-H-Adacus?" I choked, unable to breathe, trying to pry his hands off me.
"I told you, it's nascence to you," his grip tightened, and I gasped for air, tears rolling down my cheeks. "Please, you're hurting me," I managed to say, looking into his eyes glowing with an eerie light.
Reluctantly, he released me, letting me fall to the floor. I clutched my neck, trying to breathe. "You'll spend the night serving your discipline," he said coldly before storming out, leaving me in the dark and cold.
I curled up on the floor, crying. After a while, the door creaked open, and a plate of food was tossed inside. I ate in silence, locked up by my own mate. I slept but was constantly afraid.
The door opened again, and a beam of sunlight entered, along with a familiar face—Kyara. "Hello, do you remember me? I'm Kyara."
"Kyara," I replied, recalling her name. She gave a small smile. "The Alpha asked me to take you to your chamber."
Kyara led me out, eventually guiding me to what looked like my own room. She locked the door, looking at me with concern. "Oh, my lady, why did you pick a fight with Shelly? Didn't the nascence tell you?"
"About his mate? No," I shook my head.
She gave me a pitiful look. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I just wanted you to know that he cares deeply about her."
I couldn't say anything. "I'll run you a warm bath, and after that, I'll get some food for you. Meanwhile, if you need anything, just let me know," she hurriedly said before leaving.
"Thank you. And please, call me Kristen," I said, stopping her.
She smiled. "Alright, Kristen."
As she left for the bathroom, another young lady entered—the one Kyara mentioned as Luma. She bowed and smiled, addressing me formally. "At your service, my lady."
"Please just call me Kristen," I requested.
"Alright, Kristen," she nodded. Then she mentioned something about the Elders. "By the way, the Elders are here," Luma said in haste, turning to Kyara.
The Council of Elders? Every alpha in the south belonged to it, including Adacus, my mate. The Elders were the oldest wolves representing our kind.
The next day...
"Done," I dusted my hands and admired my room.
It took a lot of efforts, but at least it's neat now.
I noticed I wasn't bound by shackles or locked, I actually have the freedom to roam around the castle.
"I'll go check Adacus out." I didn't know why, but I wanted to talk to him and get to know him more. So I went to his room, the door was opened and I entered only to see Adacus making naked with Rhea on top of him.
I didn't know why I was jealous. We barely spoke 10 times, I don't know him, he hates me and I don't like him. So why did I feel envious? Is this the effect of the bond that's shared when a fated mate is revealed?
I ran outside the castle making my way to the forest. I don't care who in my pack dies now. I want nothing to do with a man like that.
Hours Later...
"Did you really think you could escape me just like that?"
I was hunted like prey by his betas and I now found myself back in the castle.
"Today, I'll teach you a lesson."
He drags me to his room and shuts it down.
"You think I didn't get your scent when you entered my room?" He smirked.
I was petrified.
"I'll teach you a lesson right here and now." His eyes glowed crimson. If looks could kills, I'd be dead by now.
"You shall address me as sir from now on."
"..."
"Is that clear?" His thunderous voice sent a cold shiver down my spine. He truly was more sinister than my father.
"Yes sir," I hated my weakness but there was nothing I could do but obey. He owns me now.
"Good. Now, your clothes, take it off, everything."
I did as he said without uttering a single word. It was a simple command yet my heart raced faster than I could process thoughts. He didn't even do anything yet I've already lost my cool.
"Good, now, get down on all fours." He hopped on the bed."
"What!?"
"Need I remind you that you are my property? My word is the law and you are my plaything. If you know whats good for you, never question me again. "
"Yes, sir." I gritted my teeth and shut my eyes as I bent down mimicking an animal.
"Now, bark." He held out his phone to record me.
I hesitated for a bit, but I once again reminded myself who I'm dealing with.
Woof! Woof!
Adacus bursts into laugher. "b***h, if only your coward of a father can see you now."
That night, he didn't do anything to me. He just left.
Once again, I faced unbearable humiliation. But I also felt an awkward emotion.
I touched my v****a, I was wet. Was his dominating personality turning me up?
It was official, I am disgusted by myself.
