Claiming, Acceptance, preparing for the final war

I turn on the tabs, take my time brushing my hair while the bath fills up, and then bind it together on my head in a messy bun. I sink into the water and sigh, my muscles relaxing right away. After half an hour the water starts to turn cold so I get out. I dry off and get dressed, this time wearing my clothes. I decide I will prepare dinner for Derek, and walk into the kitchen. I start working while music comes from the radio in the kitchen. I finish an hour later plate it on a tray and walk upstairs to his office. The door is creaked open and voices filter out. I stop and listen “Why don’t we have some fun like old times? Maybe I can bear an heir for you.” A sultry voice says. “What makes you think I want that?” I hear Derek ask “Because we had such a good time together before you met her. We were a perfect couple,” she says in the sultry voice again with a slight purr. I feel my blood boiling, I hear some movements and an oompf “You did always like it rough” she purrs “First, we never were a couple. Second, I was a horny teenager with alpha blood. You were an easy lay for me, nothing more. Third, was I not clear about the fact that Ana and I made the decision together about not conceiving? She IS my mate, I love her and always will, I will f*****g die before I would even consider cheating on her.” Derek growls and I smile but my blood still boils “get your hands off of me NOW” he yells and I snap, my wolf breaks out the dinner throw across the hallway and I stalk into his office growling. “Now you’ve done it,” Derek says throwing her my way. ‘just don’t kill her’ Derek mind-links me ‘and why the hell not!?’ I yell at him. He sighs ‘because at the moment we don’t have the best reputation because of the not conceiving, killing pack members doesn’t bode well’ he explains ‘I don’t care. No one touches my mate’ I growl to him. I swing the b***h outside with my mind and jump out after her through the window without breaking it “Damn it” Derek growls and rushes out of his office, probably going outside the normal way. The girl trembles but turns anyway ‘touching my mate!? How dare you’ I growl in her mind. ‘pfft. You won’t even bear him an heir. Why would he keep you!’ she yells back. I go red and pounce, soon the whole pack is looking and I see Derek shaking his head ‘you better not lose’ he growls in my head. I scoff back in his head and he smiles. Within seconds she is a bloody mess, I pounce and pin her underneath my body growling in her face. She does not submit, I see her struggling but she doesn’t let her wolf submit. ‘SUBMIT’ I yell into her head ‘NEVER’ she yells back ‘your choice’ I tell her and close my jaw around her neck and I crush it, she goes limp in my jaw and I let go. I strut to my mate who pets my head “to clear up any mistakes. This was a mate doing her job, keeping others from touching what is hers. She came onto me strongly, even though I kept telling her to back off” he explains to the crowd and they nod in acceptance. Derek rubs me behind my ear and I start purring rubbing my head in his hand more and he chuckles. He crouches down rubbing even harder and I lick his face “Hey” he scolds me and I give him a wolfy grin. I push him on his back with my paw and start licking his face all over while holding him down, he laughs out loud and I hear the crowd chuckle “Okay, enough” he says pushing me away and I let him. I turn and sit in his lap, he wraps his arm around me and Acalia comes forward “Mine” she growls “Yours” Derek says and kisses me. ‘clothes’ he mind-links, I put some clothes on myself with my mind. He moves his hands to my side and suddenly starts tickling me hard while pushing me down and straddling my hips, I screech trying to get away from him. Batting his hands away while trying to crawl away. When he doesn’t let me I just teleport myself behind him and jump on his back “HEY not fair” he yells while grabbing me from behind slinging me over his shoulder. The crowd is laughing at our antics, I escape his hold and run away from him sticking my tongue out at him. He chuckles and rushes after me grabbing me and swinging me around. I laugh out loud in his arms and he smiles at me with a big grin. I lower my lips to him while he holds me in the air. He easily obliges and kisses me back “Love you” he whispers “Love you too” I whisper back and break apart. He slides me down his body and smiles at me with love in his eyes.

After that, the pack didn’t stare at me with blame but with laughter after seeing our antics. They accepted that we still were on good terms and that we came to the conclusion together. Life became quite peaceful, after some long and hard thoughts and talking with Derek I decided to stop with school. Since I wouldn’t need it anyway as the pack Luna. Julia was sad about it but understood, she promised me that if there was a party again she would take me with her. And of course, I already promised myself that I would drag Derek with me. Life was peaceful and I started getting more involved in pack life since I planned to fully take on my roll even though we both knew one day that I would become more than a simple Luna. I enjoyed planning stuff for the pack, making cleaning rosters for everyone. I decided that I would cook every night for Derek, Arun, Brad, Chad, and myself. Sometimes a pack member here and there would join as well. I made sure there was always enough, Sunday was the day we would eat all the leftovers. This morning Elizabeth called that she would be coming over because she needed to speak with me and Derek. I am lounging in the living room waiting for her, and when we talk about the devil, the door opens and Elizabeth walks in “Hi, good to see you” I say and hug her. “yeah, the circumstances are not though.” She says and smiles sadly at me. “Come on,” I say and lead her to Derek’s office. I knock “come in,” he says and I open the door. Brad and Chad hover over the desk. “hi, Elizabeth good to see you” Derek says and smiles. “hi” she says “guys, we will continue this later, leave us” he says to Chad and Brad, they get up “No, it’s fine. Probably better if they stay” Elizabeth says and they nod. Elizabeth and I take the two chairs across from the desk, while Chad and Brad sit down on the couch. Derek cleans up what they were working on real quick “all right. What is going on?” he asks Elizabeth. “Remember the attack where you were taken a couple of months back?” she asks “Yes?” he answers her “well, I found out who they were. And it’s not good,” she says. I give her my full attention and so do the others “They were part of a bigger coven. The six you mentioned… were just a few ants from an anthill. And well, you have angered them” she says fidgeting with her hands. “All right,” Derk says carefully while leaning on the desk “how bad is it?” he asks. “It’s bad. The coven exists with roughly about 150 members, they already replaced the six you killed. They are the one and only coven everyone wants to disappear. They are the worst of the worst, It is said that in their stronghold they have hundreds of blood sacrifices ready anytime to bleed out for them. The witch covens have tried for years to take them down, but it’s been impossible. We heard off this news that they were going after you. I told them what I knew about you and they told me to warn you. Hoping that you will work with us to take them down. Especially since Anastasia can block their magic” She explains. Derek nods and sighs “Babe, I think…” he starts and gives me a look and I nod. “I think so too” I answer him “What, what am I missing?” she asks and I sigh “there is a prophecy,” I tell her and she nods “go on,” she says. “the phoenixes are almost hunted to extinction. When the time is there a new red-eyed phoenix will rise. Certain circumstances will make this phoenix explode in power. Everyone with the purest of hearts, who does not desire power but love and friendship will be turned by this phoenix. She will rise the phoenix wolves within them. These phoenix wolves will be the subjects, family, friends of the phoenix wolf since this phoenix wolf will be the alpha of alphas. He or she will return the glory of the phoenix wolves. The phoenix wolves will rise by her leadership.” I repeat the prophecy that I know by heart by now. Her eyes widen and she nods “that is a strong possibility” she says and I nod “I’m pretty certain, now I wonder what these exact circumstances will be” I tell her and sigh. “I have a bad feeling about those circumstances, especially if we are to take it up against one of the biggest witch coven’s, one who has no one been able to defeat. Our odds are against us aren’t they?” I ask and she nods “I am afraid so, but our odds do have improved with you,” she says and looks at me. I sigh “I am not of much use, I can protect myself and Derek apparently through our bond but other than that,” I tell her. She nods “Then practice, I have seen some things you do, You can teleport for christ’s sake, you can block my magic. Make a f*****g shield and extend it to other people” she scolds me and I chuckle, I forgot how she was during training. “You are right. But how much time do we have? My heat is coming up as well to top it off” I tell her and she nods “That could be troublesome” she says and thinks “Let me handle that. I believe there is something we can do to hold your heat off at least. After we fixed that issue we can start practicing” she says “Well, who is the Alpha now” Derek says and I chuckle “Anything to add, mate?” I ask and grin at him, he smiles back at me “I will be increasing patrols, and giving more intense training. I need to make a panic room for the families so they will be safe.” He says and I nod “Good point, mate,” I say and chuckle, he shakes his head “Thank you so much for the warning, Elizabeth. And for the working together part? We have a deal” he says and holds out his hand she shakes his and smiles “I’ll bring back the news and will return tomorrow to start training. I may bring some people with me. To discuss specifics” she says “That is all right” he smiles and she rushes out of the room. “Oh god. It’s here isn’t it” I say rushing my hand through my hair “I think so,” Derek says and hugs me. “Okay, practice, I need to practice” I chant. “I need you to be safe,” I say into his chest and he chuckles “I need you safe as well babe” he whispers and kisses my head.

Derek didn’t let go of me the rest of the day, he sensed that I needed him. The dread that came over me of what the reason would be that my powers would explode keeps going through my mind, would I lose someone important? Maybe Derek, Arun, Julia, Brad, Chad, Uncle Johnny? It kept going through my mind and was driving me nuts and Derek sensed it, he hugged me the whole night, rubbing my back trying to soothe me but it didn’t work. We both didn’t sleep that night and I was a mess by morning. I went downstairs early waiting for Elizabeth, Derek kept hovering close. I could see how tired he was and told him to sleep but told me no. The door opens and Elizabeth walks in “Thank god!” I say and she smiles and then takes in our appearance “What the hell is wrong with you two?” she asks “Couldn’t sleep. I need to do something, need to prevent this s**t” I rumble out hastily. She glares at me “And HOW well do you think that you can help when you are a wreck because you don’t sleep? If you do not take care of yourself you can’t protect the people you love. You are dragging Derek with you so what the hell do you think would happen if we were attacked now?” She asks me sternly. I swallow “Sorry” I mumble “good, do not let it happen again!” she says to me and I nod. “All right. Alpha, some of my coven and some of the witch coven have come to talk to you about details” she says to him and he nods. They walk in chuckling “She gave you good phoenix” a friendly lady says and I scratch the back of my head “Yeah” I say and sigh. They follow Derek to his office and Elizabeth stays with me and shakes her head after a while. She walks outside and I follow, she walks to the clearing in front of the packhouse and turns around “All right” she says and shows me a photo “I need you to copy this pattern, and bowls and stoned. Pretty much everything except for the people and walls” she says. I grab the picture and take some steps back. I take a good look at the picture and then close my eyes “Good job” she says. I open my eyes and everything is there, the torches, stones, bowls of water, piles of dirt, and some markings on the ground “Stand in the middle” she instructs me “What is this?” I ask. The ritual to pause your heat. It works for 6 months” she tells me and I nod. I walk to the middle and look at her. She nods and starts chanting in some unknown language, I look around a little, and suddenly the fire, water, and dirt go up into the air and surround me. It turns into a spiral and it moves to my stomach, placing itself there like a tattoo. She stops chanting and I look at her pulling my shirt up “When that disappears your heat will come up within a week” she explains and I nod “thank you” I say and smile “You’re welcome. I hope you weren’t planning on an addition of the family" she grins at me. "No, I had taken a shot to prevent pregnancy,” I tell her and she nods. “you can clean the circle up,” she says. I chuckle “Easy huh, using me?” I say and raise an eyebrow, she grins at me “Yeah, it is” she says and laughs. I shake my head and imagine the stuff disappearing. “All right. For your training I am going to need some volunteers” she says. ‘Derek, can I borrow Julia, Brad, and Chad for the experiment?’ I mind-link him. ‘sure’ he answers me ‘I need your help with something, meet me in front of the packhouse’ I mind-link all three of them at once. “On their way,” I say and she nods “three is enough?” I ask “For now,” she says and I nod. 10 minutes later all three of them have arrived “Hey, what do you need us for?” Julia asks. “I need your help with an experiment,” I say grinning at them, they all grumble “We’re not going to like this right?” Julia asks “Depends,” I say “On?” she asks “If it’s successful or not,” I say and grin and they grumble again. “This is how it goes. I will attack you with magic, I will start with water like last time. You will try to put a shield around them to stop the magic from harming them. For now, the three of you will not move so she can focus on you. Later on, you are allowed to dodge and see how she fares” she explains and they grumble and nod. They take a spot behind me and I focus on taking the magic out of the air around them. Instead, she attacks me “Focus on yourself as well,” she says and rolls her eyes at me. The three of them laugh out loud I grumble “b***h” and she turns around and glares at me “I know, I know. It’s to help me” I say and she smiles at me. I shake my head and focus again, taking myself into the equation this time. I watch her magic and see it go to the three of them at once, I focus harder and I hear the water explode “Arrgh” Julia says behind me. “It worked,” I say and do a happy dance. “Good job,” Elizabeth says “Now, the three of you. Try to dodge,” she says and starts attacking right away. They jump left and right but she doesn’t let up easily, snake-like water beams erupt from the ground and go after them. I focus on keeping the magic out of the air and when they hit around them it explodes engulfing them in water but not painfully, the water just lost its master and sprayed around. We practice like that for an hour and it works pretty well. Sometimes something gets through but it is weakened. “You need to do better when the attack happens you need to do it for everyone” she warns me and I nod. “Let me help,” the girl from earlier says. “Oh f**k” I say and groan. “Remember, it’s over 150 members you have to hold off when they come,” she says “ugh, don’t remind me” I groan at her and she chuckles. I get my ass kicked with the two off them and I curse.
