A week later and I still haven’t reached a decision, I know it’s mostly in my court. If I wanted a child this upcoming heat Derek would support me, the same if I decided to wait so he isn’t helping. I go back and forth between wanting to do it and wanting to wait. Johnny is coming today since I asked him over and I am pacing the living room. The door opens and I am in front of him right away dragging him away to our bedroom. “Wow, in a hurry?” he asks when we get there “yeah, I am going crazy,” I tell him and he frowns “What is wrong?” he asks. he sits down on the couch “well, uhh. I uhh wanted to ask you something about our parents” I say fidgeting with my hands while sitting on the bed. “Of course. What is it?” he asks. “Well, uhh. Why and how did they decide to have us?” I ask and look at him with a blush. “Ahh, you’re reaching the year and a half mark huh,” he says and I nod “What is holding you back?” he asks. “Well, I want it a lot. But with all the dangers I am not sure I want to bring our child into that. And I know it will change since I would unleash that power and all and peace would come out from that” I tell him and he nods “So it’s a circumstance problem huh” he says and I nod “All right. I don’t know what your parents decided of course but your dad has come to me once. He was a bit worried about the same, the fact that his mate was a phoenix wolf of course, and that their children would be phoenixes as well.” He says and I nod “well, in your parents' case it was the other way around. Your mother wanted them badly but your dad was unsure because of the dangers that come with being a phoenix. I told him I couldn’t help him with that, that they had to figure that out on their own” he says and I chuckle “Arun said the same” I say and he smiles. “When she did get pregnant I did ask your dad though since I was curious,” he says and shrugs “What did he say?” I ask him getting giddy he smiles at me, “he told me when I asked him that your mother convinced him. You can’t stop living your life because of potential threats. And she wanted to continue the phoenix bloodline” he says looking serious at me “But, I KNOW there is a threat coming” I tell him “and they didn’t? She was a phoenix wolf, Ana. Always hunted. As a phoenix wolf, there will always be a threat darling. It shouldn’t stop you from doing what you want in life. And you should enjoy it all the more since you know it could end one day” he says and smiles sadly at me “Did they? Enjoy it?” I ask him and he smiles “Yes, very much so. They were very happy. They doted on both of you very much. When someone asks about the definition of a happy family. I picture your parents with you two” he says and I smile “Thank you uncle” I say and he smiles “you’re welcome. Now think about it, don’t think about the threats but about what you want. Do you want to be pregnant, with morning sickness and all? Do you want to see Derek whispering against your stomach, talking to his child? Do you want to see his love and pride when you give birth? The sleepless nights of the baby kicking, and when born crying for food or a clean diaper. Do you want to raise your baby?” he asks and walks out of the room. Anastasia has been brooding for a week now since I dropped the child bomb on her. I didn’t think it would upset her this much. She has invited Johnny over to ask him some things about her parents. I am guessing it has to do with this baby stuff. God, I would like a child so much with her. But if after talking to Johnny she still can’t conclude. I will do it for her, and tell us to wait. Simply because she is so unsure. There is a knock on my door “Enter” I say and if we talk about the devil Johnny walks in. “Hey,” I say “Hey,” he says and sits down “Did you talk to her?” I ask and he nods “She is pretty stressed,” Johnny says “Yeah, if I had known she would react like this I wouldn’t have done it like that.” I say and sigh. “you understand that if she can’t decide you are going to decide for her right?” he says “I just came to the conclusion if talking to you didn’t help I would,” I say and he smiles. “Just the fact that she has such doubts makes me hesitant as well. I’m not so sure anymore that she is ready” I tell him “I don’t think she is, honestly. Yes, she wants it a lot, but her mind is not ready yet with everything else” Johnny answers me. “I’m going to talk to her,” I say and he nods “Good luck,” he says “thanks,” I say and walk out, I make my way to our room. I walk in and see she is sleeping with her arm over her stomach and it makes me smile. I lay down in bed and she immediately crawls over and rests on my chest, I smile and wrap my arm around her and wait for her to wake up on her own. After an hour she starts to stir and I smile, she looks up “hey” she says when she looks up “Morning” I say and kiss her sweetly “When did you get here?” she asks “An hour ago” I say. “Why didn’t you wake me?” she asks “I like watching you sleep, especially when you crawl onto me while sleeping soundly,” I say and smirk at her. She chuckles and gets comfortable against me while looking at me. “Did talking with Johnny help?” I ask her and she frowns “No,” she says and sighs. “We are going to wait then,” I tell her and she frowns “Are you sure?” she asks and I nod, “The fact that you are so unsure about this says enough love. I want you to be one hundred percent sure when we make a go for a child, if you start stressing during the pregnancy about what could happen is not good either, so we will wait” I tell her and she smiles “Thank you” she says and sighs. I chuckle “you’re welcome” I whisper and kiss the top of her head. She snuggles into me and I wrap my arms around her. “I’ll make an appointment with a doctor later today for tomorrow,” I tell her “Why?” she asks “So we can prevent you from getting pregnant,” I tell her “Oh right,” she says and snuggles into me again.

 It is honestly such a relief that he has decided for me. I think I was just scared of letting him down. But he is a gentleman about it, I should have known. We’re walking to the doctor’s office as we speak. “Alpha, Luna,” he says and bows when we enter. We sit down “What can I do for you?” he asks “We would like an anti-conception shot,” Derek says to me and the doctor seems surprised “Yes, all right,” he says. “You might want to let it known to the pack sir. Everyone is getting pretty excited that you two are reaching the year and a half mark” he says. “Yes, I have heard the whispers. We decided this together with everything going on. I will make an official announcement later” Derek says and I frown slightly. “When would you like the shots to start?” the doctor asks me and I hold up my hands “I know nothing about this,” I tell him and he chuckles “Right, you don’t have much knowledge. Well, this shot works for three months, if your heat hasn’t come in that period you will need to return in two and a half months to get a new one. That will continue until your heat has passed” he explains and I nod “Then right now would be fine? The one and a half year mark is in a month” I tell him and he nods “all right” he says and gets up, walks to a cabinet, and rummages in it. He comes back with a package with a syringe in it. He puts some gloves on and unwraps the syringe. “I need to do this in your arm” he smiles sweetly at me. I nod and pull my sleeve up. He cleans the area with a wet cloth, from the smell it’s alcohol. He puts the syringe in and empties the liquid into my arm. He pulls it out slowly “So all done” he smiles at me. He sits down “Would you like to know a bit more about a female’s heat? The regular basis and around a pregnancy?” he asks “I would like that” I tell him “all right. Once you have your first heat it will become regular once every 6 months. When you are with a child that will stop of course, After giving birth, it takes roughly a year for it to come back again. For some it’s ten months for others it’s fourteen months. From that moment on you take on a new regular basis every 6 months. The heat itself usually lasts 6 days. If it stops early it usually means that you conceived right away on the first day. Your body takes notice of that after two days of conceiving and the heat will stop.” He explains and I nod “Do you have any questions?” he asks. “Well uh, how does it go?” I ask and blush and he chuckles “Let’s just say that the two of you will be locked in your bedroom until it passes,” he says and smiles sweetly and I nod “Thank you, doctor,” I tell him and he smiles “Anytime Luna” he answers me. We excuse ourselves and make our way back to the packhouse. We go back to the office “what was that about?” I ask “What exactly?” I ask “Well, announcement and all?” I ask. He sighs and crouches in front of me “Well, I am the Alpha, you are my Luna. It excites the pack that we would bear an heir for the Alpha position” he explains “why didn’t you tell me?” I ask “Because I didn’t want to put even more pressure on you,” he says and smiles “Look, the pack can say all that they want but this is OUR decision love. If we aren’t ready then they have to deal with that.” He says and smiles at me “Okay” I say and smile back “Thank you for letting me decide sort off” I say and smile “Sort off?” he asks “Yeah, you kinda decided in the end. But I am happy you did. I was running myself crazy” I tell him and he smiled “I noticed, that is why I put a stop to it. I would love a child with you, babe. I really would but as I said I want you to be ready for it as well. And seeing as how much you were stressing about it, you are not ready” he says and I look down “I’m sorry though” I tell him and he frowns “for what? not being ready?” he asks and I nod “Don’t be. It’s all right love. I only want a child when we are both ready for it, if only one of us is, it won’t work” he says and smiles. I nod “thanks for being you” I say and sigh while leaning my forehead on his. He chuckles “Anytime,” he says and kisses me sweetly. There is a knock on the door “Enter” Derek responds while getting up. He walks over to his chair and Brad walks in “You called?” he asks. “Yes, I have an announcement to make. Call the pack together” He tells Brad who nods in response and leaves again. “They are not going to react very well are they?” I ask. “Probably not,” he says and I nod. I walk over to him “How will we deal with that?” I ask while leaning against his desk. “We will just explain to them that we are not ready because of the recent dangers and that we don’t want to bring a child into that until it has quieted down. They’ll just have to deal with it” he says and rubs my legs. I nod at him “You feel insecure about this?” he asks but it’s more a statement “yeah, I feel like I am letting the pack down, letting you down” I say and shrug “Oh baby. You are not letting me down all right. We decided this together.” He says sternly while wrapping his arms around my waist. I sigh “All right” I answer him. “Good,” he says and grins at me. “see the bright side. We’ll have six days full of hot and heavy s*x. Want a taste?” he says and his eyes blink bright silver “na-ah. You have an announcement to make dear Alpha” I say and he chuckles “Damn” he says and gets up. He grabs my hand and we walk to the front door, we walk outside and stop on the porch. The pack stands there waiting eagerly “Your Alpha and Luna have come to a decision” Derek says with a loud voice, the crowd quiets down “We will not conceive in our first heat” he says and murmurs explode “The reason for this is simply because there have been too many dangers lately, we do not want to bring our child into such a world. We will reconsider our decision when things have calmed down” he says. The crowds quiet down and some of them start nodding in approval. “That was all,” he says and we walk back inside.

A week later everyone is looking at me and it’s annoying me as f**k. I storm inside Derek’s office “EVERYONE IS STARING AT ME!” I yell out my frustration. He jumps up and comes over wrapping me in his arms “Ssh, it’s fine it will pass love” he whispers trying to calm me down. I growl into his chest clutching his chest “It’s not fair” I whimper in his chest. “I know, baby. I know” he whispers while rubbing my back. “I’ll tell them off. make it clear we both decided it and that it’s not your fault” he whispers and I nod. ‘pack meeting NOW’ he yells in my head. “sorry, had to reach everyone at once” he says and we walk outside. Everyone gathers quickly “YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND SOMETHING. THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO CONCEIVE IS NOT HER FAULT. WE BOTH DECIDED WE ARE NOT READY, YOU WILL STOP LOOKING AT HER LIKE SHE IS TO BLAME!” he yells at the crowd with a growl “SHE IS YOUR f*****g LUNA, YOU WILL START TREATING HER AS ONE” he adds. ‘wow, I have never seen him this pissed off before’ “IT IS HER FAULT!” someone yells into the crows and storms forwards “IF SHE WASN’T A f*****g PHOENIX WOLF THERE WOULD BE NO DANGER” the woman yells “YOU will respect us. You are talking to your f*****g alpha” he growls at the woman. “pfft. If you had a normal wolf for a mate you would be getting ready to bear an heir” she scoffs “well, Anastasia IS my mate. You will deal with that period, she is your Luna and you will treat her as one or you can leave” he growls at her. I put my hand on his shoulder “I have put our pack in danger, I know that. But you have to realize I can’t do anything about that. I didn’t choose to be a phoenix wolf. Trust me I love it, besides the point that it brings me and my pack in danger. But as he said, I AM your Luna. I will not tolerate such a lack of respect. Do not let it happen again, towards me or my mate” I tell her with an alpha voice. Derek looks proudly at me “And as my mate said, we have come to this decision together. Deal with it or as he said just f**k off” I tell her and she cowers. Derek wraps me up in his arms and walks inside “That was hot” he grins at me and I smile. I put my head on his shoulder and sigh “I hope it’s done. I just can’t take those looks anymore. It’s not like I did something to them” I tell him and he rubs my back “I know babe. I’m sorry” he says. “It’s not your fault,” I say and relax into him while he carries me to our room. “I have some more work to do. Why don’t you take a bath and relax?” he asks and I nod “I will.” I answer and smile. He leans down and kisses me sweetly “See you later babe,” he says and walks out.
