A few hours later all I have come up with is red smoke and I frown “smoke can work” Derek says “How?” I ask. “Well, if you make sure the smoke goes up into the sky from all over the place, people will see it” he explains and I nod “why didn’t I think of that,” I say and concentrate. I open my eyes and the pack is full of red smoke just above the houses “Nice” Derek says and I smile proudly. “The council members will be here tomorrow morning,” Derek says and I nod. “Everyone I could think off of possibly knowing about her is contacted and invited,” Victoria says from the door “Good work,” Derek says. An hour later rogues started appearing. Derek welcomed them and when everyone was there explained the situation to them. They all thanked him for protecting them from a possible threat. They got settled in and I focused on changing the smoke to green, to signal everyone when it was safe. I practiced until late in the evening “Enough” Derek stated and threw me over his shoulder and carried me upstairs like that. He undressed me and pulled a shirt of his over my head and then undressed himself to his boxers and we got into bed. “Good night” he whispers “Good night, I love you” I whisper back and he pulls me closer “Love you too” he answers me and we fall asleep like that. The next morning was nerve-breaking. People would officially learn about me and my brother's whereabouts and existence. “It’ll be all right” Arun reassures me. “we’ll see. I can see you are not happy with it either” I tell him and he shrugs. The meeting has started, Derek said he would mind-link me when we could enter. He would reassure them first. ‘come on’ he mind-links me. I nod at my brother and he squeezes my hand. We walk to the meeting room and I open the door and step inside first. Arun closes the door behind me, I take a seat next to Derek and Arun sits on the other side of me. “Who are they?” someone asks “I know,” someone at the table says and stands up. He has tears in his eyes “Oh my god. You’re okay” he says and the tears roam freely. I see Arun hold his head at an angle “Wait, Uncle Johnny?” Arun asks and the man nods. My brother chuckles and I am like what the f**k is going on. “He’s dad’s brother” Arun explains and I nod. Johnny stumbled over and wraps his arms around us “I thought I would never see you two again” he says. He cups my cheeks after breaking the hug “Just like your mother” he says and smiles. I feel kind of awkward with this strange man acting like this. “You’ve grown up in a good man,” he says to Arun. “Now, that is out of the way. My apologies, I’ve looked everywhere for these two, never stopped until this day. Since you called an emergency meeting and these two are here. What is the threat?” he asks. Derek smiles probably liking him, that he gets to the point. “Rogues,” he says and the man growls “how many?” he asks. “No idea, we’ve already taken care of roughly thirty now. The problem is, is that they have started to make housecalls.” Derek explains. “I know you do not agree with what I am saying now but I have my reasons. This city is populated with rogues who want to live normal lives. Including the people who took care of Anastasia when she finally broke free from her captor. They found out she was a phoenix wolf but they swore to protect her. Her parents are the ones who alerted me of the increase of rogues in the area. The rogues who could suspect or do know that she lives with those rogues are right now on my pack lands under my protection.” Derek explains. They all grumble “Rogue lover” I growl loudly “do not forget that the people who saved me are two rogues” I growl at them. They go quiet, I have more on my mind but now is not the time. “So what do you need from us?” Johnny asks “Men. I can’t leave the main pack undefended with the families there. I have pulled every man that I could miss there already here. But it is a tight fit. “Use us,” I tell him and they all growl “No” Derek growls. “And why the f**k not?” I ask him. “We’re trying to protect you! Not lead you into the fray” Derek says growling “Yes, and you are a f*****g overprotective alpha mate. That helps in my cause” I growl at him “Wait, mate?” Johnny asks “don’t remind me” Arun growls next to me. “Yes, mate,” I say and then look back at Derek. “I can f*****g take them out with my f*****g MIND Derek!” I yell at him. I feel my eyes flash at him and he sighs “Babe,” he starts “AH NO, DO NOT BABE ME” I yell at him. “Anastasia, Calm down,” Johnny says and lays a hand on my shoulder. He gets blasted away against the wall slides to the ground and is out cold. “f**k” one of the men says at the table. Derek gets up “you need to calm down,” he says and I growl at him. “Sis, calm down,” Arun says turns me around, and wraps his arms around me. I fist his shirt “Stop babying me, Derek” I say and storm out of the house. I turn and run around the perimeter staying close to the house or he will flip again. after a few hours I run back and slow down when the house comes insight. I see the council standing outside talking and drinking. I walk up and they watch at me in awe, they freeze and growl at something behind me. I turn around and see 20 rogues coming at me. I growl loudly and think about snapping their necks in one swift move. They all fall limp to the ground, I turn back around and walk into the house, I walk to our room and lay down on the bed in wolf form. Not in the mood to talk to Derek. I block his mind-link and close my eyes. Not long after the door opens and his scent comes into my nose, the bed dips “ignoring me?” he asks. I roll my eyes as if it’s not obvious. He sighs and undresses, he crawls into the bed and wraps his arms around my wolf spooning my wolf form. “I’m sorry. You’re right, I am an overprotective alpha mate,” he says and I snicker and open my mind-link ‘never thought I would hear you admit that’ I mind-link him and he smiles. I push him away with my snout and turn back, he wraps me in his arms “don’t ever baby me again. I just took down twenty wolves with my mind” I tell him and he sighs “I will always try to keep you out of it babe. That’s what I am your mate for” he says. “I straddle his hips “And you are mine, I want to keep you safe as well. Don’t forget that, and I certainly have the strength to do it, Derek. You need to start looking at me as your equal. Not the weak girl I was when you met me two years ago” I tell him and he frowns while rubbing my back. “I guess, you have a point. Never thought about it like that” he says and looks at me. “I just” he says but frowns “I know, you want to keep me safe. But you need to let me help before the house explodes because you piss me off with your protectiveness” I tell him and he chuckles “Good point” he says and nips with his teeth at my nose. The next morning I wake up from a Derek pressing kisses all over my face and I giggle and push him away. “Knock it off. We walk out of the room with his arm slung around my shoulder. The council members are still here, “Made up?” Johnny asks and wiggles his eyebrows I chuckle and Derek smiles brightly and proudly. Everyone at the table laughs “So, I am going to include them into this” Derek says and they all snicker and Derek shoots them glares, they shut up but the laughter is still in their eyes and I just smirk. Johnny shoots me a knowing look and Arun just laughs out loud. “Whipped” he adds making everyone laugh again and Derek grumbles behind me “it’s true, isn’t it?” I ask and wiggle my hips. He growls and wraps his arms around me pulling me flush against him. “don’t” he growls and nuzzles my neck. I sigh “Or?” I ask “I will f**k you in front of them” he growls and I freeze. This time the table laughs at me except for Johnny and Arun who just growl lowly. “who are you exactly anyway?” I ask. “The council is made off all the alpha’s in this area” Johnny explains and I nod “I took over from your dad when..” he says and gives me a sad smile. Arun grins “So you’re saying you’re running my pack?” he says and Johnny laughs “If you want it you’re welcome after intense training,” he says seriously. Arun gulps “never mind, apparently my sister is perfect for the job,” he says while scratching his chin. I chuckle and shake my head.

A week passed with me missing school, again. planning, patrolling, taking out rogues. I was dead tired and fell asleep before Derek was even in the room. Derek and I have a day off of it today and are just relaxing on the porch swing. I am cuddling up against him and we are just enjoying the weather ‘ROGUES’ is suddenly yelled into the mind-link ‘calm down’ Derek massive mind-links ‘how many?’ he asks pulling me into the link ‘can’t tell’ answers and then it’s quiet. Derek nods at me and we turn and run in the direction of the attack. When we the growling and snarling can be heard. I already know this is more than we can handle ‘Derek’ I say ‘I know. We do what we can’ he says and I nod. I stand off to the side and start snapping necks. I noticed that 2 at a time is a lot less taxing on my body than more. Arun joins me and starts doing it from the other side, both of us working to the middle of the field. Suddenly we get knocked over by two rogues and then we are surrounded by a lot of them. ‘Derek’ I mind-link him. ‘f**k’ he answers me ‘tied up’ he tells me and I growl. Arun does the same and we start snapping necks, but everyone we take out two more joins. Then they are tired and pounce on us, Arun and I fight hard, we are a bloody mess and I keep healing us and it is taking its toll on us ‘we are outnumbered! Retreat!’ Derek mind-links. ‘can’t’ I answer him. And take down another wolf who lunges for us. We have taken out about thirty rogues but we are surrounded. ‘stay safe sis’ he mind-links me ‘you too’ I say and nuzzle him shortly before growling loudly and snapping the necks of ten wolves. Arun does the same and then we focus on the other twenty. They growl and snarl and pounce, Arun is losing with three of them, I can see he is tired from the 10 rogues at once. I snap two necks of the others to help him but that costs me, I am pinned to the ground and whimper. A jaw lowers on my neck ‘I will find you. Save him!’ I mind-link him ‘stay strong brother, I will find you’ I mind-link Arun. ‘You too, sister. May you rise in good health’ he answers me. We lock eyes and nod, the jaw shuts around my throat and I hear cracking and I whimper, I hear a loud howl filled with pain, and then it’s dark.
