Chapter 8

Crystal Hayes POV

Today was my first day and I had finished two assignments

I returned back to my desk and saw my third assignment which was super easy than the previous ones

Actually what they gave us were samples of works and we were supposed to c***k them and rewrite them into a new document

The system gave me points and looking at the contrast spreadsheet I saw that so that I must get a promotion I had to do some more assignments

Before the end of the day. The manager of our department came to our office to make some announcements

One of the announcements was that everybody was supposed to attend the event as usual he gave out the address

He briefly explained to us what usually happens and the don't s in the after party

The next announcement was a promotion for someone in the department.

"The department got talent on the first day and is promoted" he said all eyes were on us two

As usual Alicia was all proud and people thought that it was her

"It is.... Crystal Hayes! congratulations to you for such a talent you have been promoted to the research team " he said enthusiastically

Everybody looked at me with shock and surprise

They started to clap at me.

" Welcome to our team Crystal" a guy told me

Everybody was happy except for a person who glared at me shooting fire balls at me.

As everybody was leaving I looked at my computer and saw the task I was to research on

I saved it in my Email so that I could do some more at home

"Congratulations Crystal see you at the party tonight" a woman told me with a genuine smile

"Thank you and I will definitely be there " I answered

As I was packing my things so that I could go home somebody came to me

" Have you heard it? " she asked me all happy

" There is a junior who started work today and has already got a promotion " she said as though it was unbelievable

The news has not even been released a long time ago and everybody knew?

" People want to see who it is because everyone is attending the after party" she said with anticipation

" While maybe people should stop gossiping and focus on their own work " I told her already walking my way out of the office

" Hey wait and why are you such a killer joy huh" She asked me

" Tell me about the party " I told her as I was heading to the elevator

She started to talk about everything that is their

We got into the car and she took me to different apartments

I saw mesmerizing by an apartment in a luxurious estate that was a two bedroom apartment

It had a walk in closet and it was very spacious

I was going to live here so why should I not treat myself for a good life

Something I came to learn as growing up is that self love was very important

I did not care about how much I had to pay for in a month since I was already promoted and by the end of the month I could have already gone two steps up

I took the house and Luna did not say anything.

She helped me move my things in and I settled in my new apartment

" Girl we need to get some evening gowns for the party tonight" she told me already browsing her phone

I was on my laptop doing some research on the work at hand I needed to finish at least a quarter of it today and by the time I get to work on Monday I would have finished the whole work

She put down her phone and looked at me

I could not hold the stare anymore

" What? " I asked her. Her stare was creeping me out

"While you need a ladies day out and Tomorrow am taking you out with me" she told me

" No way am I going out I needed to work " I told her

" You yourself told me that self care is very important " she said with a spout

I could not believe that my words were now eating me up

"Okay " I said and she jumped up and down like a little kid given lolly pop

Just then we heard the door bell ring

" I will get it " she said moving towards the door

It was a delivery and she signed it

"Here are our clothes " She said

" I will go get a shower first " I said as I closed my laptop and started moving towards my bedroom

When I opened it I still could not believe that this was actually my house

I felt like I had achieved my dream

The only thing left is to get a decent car

But I was to get it after a had finished paying for my house which would take around four to five years and I also had to start my own restaurant

The main aim of this year was to start the restaurant

I think I should a loan from Luna who seems to be very wealthy herself

I did not know how I was going to ask her

After I finished my shower I headed to the bedroom only to find her seated at my bed looking at me

I thought you would never come out

" Self care is very important" I told her sarcastically

She draged me to sit at the dressing table and removed her makeup kit

She started working on me like a professional

You could guess how I looked

I always knew I was beautiful but I never knew that with just a little bit of makeup I could make jaws drop

" I always knew it" knew what

" The only thing that made your colour dark and look a little moderate was your poverty state " She told me

I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that she made sense

I never looked after my skin even going out for beauty days

She left me and went to take a shower herself

She had left a sapphire green dress that had a slit on my left leg and my back was all exposed, it also had spaghetti straps.

When I wore it, It hugged my body like another skin up to my knees and below it was free

She had done my hair up into a bun leaving some strands to lay loose on my face. This style made me look like a seductress.
