Damien's POV.
I stared in horror as I realized that my car was about to collide with the truck. I knew the impact could be fatal, and the thought of never seeing Elise again terrified me. Should I just give up and remove my hands from the steering wheel while bracing myself for death?
No!
I wasn't a man to chicken out even in the face of death. I couldn't let anything separate me from Elise, never again!
There was a chance to survive, so I grabbed it without thinking twice. I turned my steering wheel and the car swayed to the right.
I avoided the collision with the truck but I still couldn't control my car. The car began spinning and spinning out of control, fortunately for me, other cars weren't too close.
I thought that I had escaped danger but unfortunately, as I turned the steering wheel to redirect the car, I ended up running into the median.
My car slammed against the concrete barrier with full force, causing my car to come to a halt. But just as my car was wrecked, so was I.
The impact of the hit caused this instant pain in my chest. I didn't know how I hit my head but blood was dripping down my face. My left arm felt numb as well and a wave of agony shot through my body.
I could hear screams and words of people but everything started getting distant, and my eyes began closing.
I tried averting the accident but I couldn't. Would this be my last day on earth? Was this how my life was going to end without seeing Elise?
I tried fighting to keep my eyes open but my eyelids got heavier by the second. Smoke filled the air and I had the urge to cough but couldn't.
The last thing I heard was the blaring of an ambulance's siren.
___
I could feel my body being moved and I suspected that I was being taken to the hospital. I tried opening my eyes to see the people around me but I couldn't. No matter how hard I tried.
It seemed like my eyes had been glued together.
Why couldn't I open my eyes but still sense everything going on around me? Was I in a coma or halfway towards the land of the dead?
I continued hearing their chatter that sounded confused or agitated like they were trying to save my life.
I truly wanted them to save me because I needed to see Elise. I would have loved to die after she vanished from my life but now, I had the opportunity of meeting her and apologizing for my wickedness.
Doctors, please save me. I can't die now.
Those were the last words I could say inwardly because, after that, I somewhat lost consciousness.
I don't know how long I was out but when I opened my eyes, I had to shut them back because of the lights. When I opened them again, I blinked slowly at the white ceiling, then looked around me.
I took a few more breaths and tried sitting up but I felt this sharp pain in my head and around my body.
"Fuck." I cussed and struggled harder to sit.
As I succeeded, I looked at myself and saw that I was in a hospital gown. No one had to tell me that I was in the hospital because there was always this smell in it that made me feel sick.
"My head hurts so bad…" I groaned and took my hand to my head.
Touching my head, I felt a bandage wrapped around it. It made me instantly panic and ask myself if I could remember my name.
"What's my name? s**t!, I can't remember." My heart pounded in my chest for a few seconds before I let out a little laugh.
"Damien Sinclair." I tried chuckling but ended up with another sharp pain in my head.
"Doctor, he has regained consciousness!" A nurse who stepped in to see me awakened yelled.
She ran out of the room and within a few minutes, the doctor came to check up on me. He asked a series of questions which I replied to.
As he asked questions about my memories, I gave him the right answers and suddenly remembered that I was supposed to meet Elise at the runway show.
"s**t!" I cussed and attempted to get off the bed but the doctor grabbed my arm.
I cast a dangerous glare at him but he refused to release me.
"Mr Sinclair, where are you going?" He asked, staring confusedly at me.
"I'm going to meet someone," I replied and struggled with his grip but I was a little weak. "Doctor, let me go if you value your life!"
"I value your life, that's why I'm holding you back. Whatever you have to do can wait till tomorrow, you can't risk your life for some meeting or person." the doctor said, sensibly.
If Elise wasn't involved, I would've stayed but unfortunately, this might be my only chance of seeing her.
"Well, if I don't see this person then I would rather jump off a bridge than continue living. I have to see her, now do me a favor and stay out of this!" I frowned at him.
Leaving again became futile because he pulled me down to the bed and I certainly tried to fight back but my body seemed to be working against me.
"You're in no state to leave the hospital or drive." He said sternly and faced the nurse who came in earlier. "Please get me a shot of sedatives."
'oh no.' I gasped inwardly.
"Doctor, I don't need anesthesia," I said but he paid dead ears to my words. "I promise to calm down, please don't sedate me. I promise not to leave this place or the hospital's premises."
He glanced at me but said nothing till the nurse came, ready to inject me.
"Stop." The doctor shook his head at her. "He seems relaxed now."
I heaved a sigh of relief and decided to play along. "Doctor, what is the time?"
"It's 8 pm" the doctor glanced at his watch and replied.
"The time to meet her has passed, I would have just wasted my time by leaving. Thanks, doc." I forced a smile on my lips.
"You're welcome" the doctor replied with a smile which I felt like wiping off his face.

I was presently in a cab, still wearing a hospital gown. I had escaped from the hospital after the doctor and nurse left me alone.
I had lied about the time being up. The time for the photoshoot was 9 pm and luckily, I had taken a good glance at the location which my private investigator sent me.
Even though I didn't have money to pay the cab driver, I knew that Elise would help me, especially after seeing my condition.
My body still ached from the accident and I had a terrible migraine but my discomforts didn't matter. All that mattered was seeing my princess again.
"Sir, we're here." I heard the words of the cab driver and a smile brimmed on my lips. "Thank you, just wait here while I go inside."
I stepped out of the cab and rushed to the photography studio but was stopped by the security guards. I expected this, so I told them who I was and they recognized me.
"We heard about the accident, aren't you supposed to be in the hospital?" One of them asked, staring curiously at me.
"I just need to see someone inside" I told them and luckily, they were compassionate enough to let me into the studio.
As I reached the set, I saw the photographer and crew packing up. They seemed to have finished the photoshoot. My eyes searched the area and my eyes lit up when I saw Elise standing at the corner, staring at me.
I couldn't help but smile, I hurried to her, my heart racing in my chest. When I reached her, I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to myself. "My princess, we finally meet again."
