A Terrible Accident

1786 Words
Damien's POV. This was my third day of getting disappointed. I was so excited when my private investigator told me that he knew the location of Elise. I haven't been that happy in a long time. I was so excited to see her face, even though it stayed behind that mask, I wouldn't mind. I just wanted to get a closer look at those blue eyes. I wanted to drown my entity in them, I desired to feel her lips again. They still look small and cute, I wanted to caress her bottom lip with my thumb but before all that I needed to apologize. I desired to make up for the hurt I caused her and confess my unending love to her. But unfortunately, all my wishes and desires were crumbled that same day. My private investigator called me back and told me that he made a mistake. He apologized profusely after telling me that he went to confirm it and it was unfortunately the wrong house. I felt my hope being shattered but then, he promised to get back to me with something positive. I tried to put my faith in him again but I couldn't. It was so disappointing that all the romantic lines I was practicing, all went to waste. "So annoying!" I frowned my lips and banged my fist on the table. I tiredly looked around my office and then at my watch. I would soon call in the candidates that have come for the interview. I hadn't seen anyone good enough for the secretary position. My former secretary was competent and did a great job but she had to ruin things for herself. "Ten minutes, remaining…" I muttered, still staring at my watch. A drop of sweat slowly dripped down my temple and I rolled my eyes. "A few minutes ago, I felt cold, now I'm feeling hot," I complained and reached for the drawer. I brought out the air conditioner remote and flick, I turned on the air conditioner. I turned up the temperature and the office became a little cold. I was simply stressed by the idea of never getting in touch with the love of my life again. She was still in California and I had the chance to see her before she would think of leaving for another country and disappearing like she did before. "Elise…" I whispered and brought out my phone. Some might say I have a fetish but it was love. I loved staring at her picture. It made me feel like I was staring at her. I always touched the surface of my phone exactly the way I wanted to touch her face. My hands yearned to stroke the strands of her beautiful hair that looked much softer than before. My fingers needed to feel her smooth and flawless skin. Her skin was so fair that it made me feel filthy, well not literally. It felt like a contrast. She was beautiful and fair like an angel, I wasn't anything close to an angel. She hadn't seen half of who I was before she left but I was willing to change for her. "You've gotten much more beautiful, I can't wait to see you…princess" This was one of the times that a genuine smile would ever grace my lips. I didn't have to feign a smile when it came to her. I sighed and placed my phone on the table, I checked my watch and it was time to start the interviews. I began calling their names one after the other, interviewing them. There were a few male candidates but none of them were competent enough. The female candidates were a little disappointed till a particular woman walked into my office. It wasn't just her beauty but the confident aura around her. "Good morning, sir." She greeted me and unlike the other candidates, she sat down when I permitted her to. "Morning," I replied and started the interview. I shouldn't have to interview these candidates but this was a position of someone close to me, someone who would hold the information of the company. I couldn't risk employing someone lousy or rude. After interviewing her, I could see how different she was from the rest of the candidates. I was impressed with how vibrantly and sensibly she answered the questions. "Wow, I don't think you need to be called back.." I said and instead of seeing a crestfallen look on her face, she simply smiled at me. Pure professionalism! "Because you're hired," I uttered and she looked elated about it. "Thank you, sir. I won't disappoint you" She bowed her head slightly and left my office. She was the last and hired candidate, so I didn't have more interviews to do. "Oh goodness. That was exhausting." I exhaled softly and turned my swivel chair around. I stopped it in front of my desk and checked my laptop for the designs that I should have received. When I checked my email and saw them, I was quite impressed as I kept scrolling down the message. The designs were quite detailed and peculiar. Since I couldn't find Elise for now, it would be better to bury myself in work and occupy my mind with something else. I might just die of depression if I kept thinking of my slim chances of ever seeing her again. I continued working for hours till I was interrupted by a knock on the door. "Come in!" I slurred my words uninterested in whoever walked through that door especially if it was Nicola. Thinking of that witch, I hadn't seen her since today. Where did she go? I hoped that she wasn't trying anything nasty because I would certainly kill her. "Son…" I heard my father's voice and my eyes widened. I looked up and stared at him. He was in his late fifties, always dressing younger than his age, this time he ridiculously chose to wear a grey hoodie and black pants. He wore sneakers and had his gray hair dyed black. Dad might be old but he was still handsome, he had those strong and attractive genes that ran in the Sinclair family. "Dad, welcome." I smiled a little. "What are you doing here?" I asked, straightforwardly. My Dad and I always had a strong bond, even if we never expressed it traditionally. We respected each other's boundaries and maintained a healthy relationship but every parent-child relationship, we had our ups and downs. "Can't I come to see my son again?" He asked with his voice that had gotten deeper and a little cracked. He sauntered to my desk and sat on one of the chairs, he looked around my office and frowned. "This office hasn't changed one bit. I told you that I didn't like the wallpaper, you should get a gray one and change some of the furniture. This desk is outdated!" He complained and slammed his hand on my desk. "Did you just come to talk about the designs of my office or do you have anything else to say?" I asked, knowing that he had an agenda for coming. "Dad, do you need a new yacht?" "No boy! I need you to get married…" There came that marriage talk that I've always wanted to avoid. I didn't want to get married because I couldn't love any other woman other than Elise. She was the only one in my heart and no other woman could occupy that space. "Dad. Just drop this topic because no matter the persuasion. I'm not going to marry anyone and please, don't mention that woman's name!" I warned, not willing to hear Nicola's name as a suggestion. My Dad scoffed and brought out his phone from his hoodie pocket. He showed me a picture of a woman I knew. She was one of the top designers in California and abroad, she was a beautiful woman but not as my princess. "I met her one time and she had a terrible crush on you…I suggested a betrothal and she was willing. Just look at her, Isn't this the kind of woman that would be sexy even tied up with your c*m on her face?" There he was, talking about kinks instead of love. "Dad, just forget about this suggestion because I'm never marrying her. I'm not a kid anymore, you can't control me." I uttered with a stern voice. "Since you don't like her then marry Nicola. Her father has promised to contribute greatly to our—" "I don't care! I'm not marrying anyone!" I raised my voice and grabbed my phone from the table. I had my car keys in my pocket and the next step was to leave my office. "Damien, where are you going?" Dad asked, his voice full of disbelief. "I'm leaving, have a nice day," I said and just like that, I left my office. "Damien, you've got to marry her! You're marrying Nicola whether you like it or not!" "Damien!" __ Two days passed and there was still no news about her location. It was midday already and I kept staring at my phone, waiting for at least something. As I was on the edge of giving up, my phone vibrated, and I picked up the call immediately. My private investigator told me over the phone that Elise was having a runway this afternoon and a photoshoot at night. I was so happy because last night I had drunk myself into a stupor. I felt so depressed that things weren't working the way I wanted them. But finally, things were working out. 'Are you sure about this?' I asked to confirm and not get my hopes up again. 'Yes. I'll send you the locations in a few minutes…' Once I got the locations, I ran like a madman out of my office and went to the parking lot. I got into my car and began speeding to the place. As I drove, I suddenly recalled my father's insistence to force me into marriage. I couldn't imagine getting married to Nicola. "I will never marry that disgusting and useless excuse for a woman." I frowned and stepped on the accelerator. As I got to a certain place, I saw a truck making a U-turn. It was heading to the front of my car. I pressed on the brakes to slow my car down but to my dismay, the car refused to stop. "What's happening?" I panicked and stomped my foot harder on the brakes. "The brakes! they're not working!…fuck! I'm going to crash!" I tried stepping harder on the brake pedal but it didn't work. I was going to die without seeing my princess.
