CHAPTER 4

POV: Esther I went inside my house, which I lived with my mom only, knowing full well that she’s still not home yet. She works as a full time nurse. “Help yourself with anything you want, honey,” the note on the fridge read. “If only I could be smart as mom then maybe she would love me and wouldn’t left me alone most of the time,” I sighed. I went up to my room and change into my pj’s. “But you could be..” a voice suddenly whispered. I jerked my head, in search of someone who said it but I can’t see anyone. “I can help you.” Ohmyghad, I think I’m going crazy. I’m hearing voices! “You’re not crazy, I’m inside of you, remember?” Wait... “The green stone from the wild?” I said outloud, feeling a little weird. “Yes. As I’ve said I am inside you, I can hear your thoughts and feel your emotions as well. I’ve been looking for you for so long. We all are. You are my vessel. I need you, you need me. I am Hecate.” She explained to me patiently, like a mother talking to her daughter. “I don’t know what to say..” I started saying. “What should I do? Do I need to do something? Ohmyghad, are you going to take my life in exchange of yours?” “No, Esther. I am here to protect you from all sorts of danger. I will make everything easier for you.” She assured me. This sure feel weird. I’m talking to myself and yet I’m not. “Don’t worry, you can always talk to me through your mind.” She said, hearing my thoughts. And with that I drifted off to sleep.. ——————————— POV: Esther The alarm clock went up its blarring sound, waking me up immediately. “Time for another shool day, hooray,” I yawned, not really thrilled at the idea of going to school everyday. I lazily went to the bathroom and splash my face with cold water. I looked into the mirror and woah! I see my eyes glowing green! “Am I dreaming? Why is my eyes green?” I frantically think to myself, as I stare at myself through the mirror. “You’ll learn to control it soon, Esther. I’ll help you.” Hecate said through my mind. A bit startled, I smiled weakly, remembering what happened last night. “Goodmorning Hecate.” I greeted her. “Can I make eyes go back its usual color? Yesterday has been a bad day for me and I really want to laylow today.” “Of course. You just have to focus on what you want to do and eventually it will happen. You have powers now.” She informed me. I closed my eyes, focusing my little brain into making my eyes brown again. “Make it brown, make it brown...” I mumbled. After a few minutes passed, “Esther, open your eyes.” I did, happy to see that my eyes are back to brown again. “Well, that was easy. I thought it would take me all day!” I laughed. Then I noticed something. “Hecate? My hair! It has a speck of green!” I said, pulling my short hair to see it clearly. “Well it doesn’t look bad, in fact its pretty!” “That’s the sign of every elemental stone holder has.” She informed me. “But can I get back to brown? Like my eyes?” I asked her. “No. Because it will only make your powers behave wildly. You wouldn’t control it, not now. But someday you can.” She said. “Okay. You know its good the school allows hair color.” I laughed. Then I thought, would my friends have colored eyes and hair like me? Did their stones talked to them too? I got so excited to have a chitchat with my friends, so I went to school earlier than usual.
