“We’re going away,” Dan informed Georgiana as he dropped their suitcases at the front door.
“I don’t want to go anywhere,” she pouted.
“Well, you don’t have a choice.” He had been pussyfooting around her for weeks, never knowing what kind of mood she would be in from one day to the next. It was exhausting to watch her lurch from one emotion to another, and painful when she pushed him away. She had moved back into their bed but was distant, and she slept with her back to Dan most of the time.
“You told me that Lara the Latvian said you needed to break the cycle, so I’m doing it for you. We’re going and that’s that.” He picked up the cases and walked out to the waiting car.
