When Georgiana and Dan didn’t turn up for dinner that evening, Hattie voiced her concerns. Something was wrong.
“They’re probably just making up for lost time,” Sebastian said. “But if it makes you feel better I’ll call her.” He picked up the phone and rang Georgiana’s mobile. She didn’t answer, so he tried Dan’s instead. His went straight to voicemail.
“I’m sure she’s fine,” he reassured Hattie.
“I think there’s something wrong,” Hattie replied. “I can feel it.”
“Ok you silly woman,” Sebastian kissed her on the head. “I’ll pop over there now. Can you delay dinner and let everyone know?” He headed out of the back door and jumped into the ancient Land Rover. He was at Georgiana’s door in minutes and found the cottage swathed in darkness.
