CHAPTER 69 Christmas Day was a struggle for Georgiana, who had expected Dan to be celebrating by her side. She woke up cold and miserable with Lady pressing up against her for warmth. It was an effort to get out of bed, and as she switched on the bedside light the bulb blew and she was plunged into darkness again. She stumbled around until she found her mobile phone and turned on the torch. “Bloody fuse box,” she muttered. She made her way downstairs, and opened the cupboard at the back of the kitchen to flip the trip switch. She had to move a few things to get to the fuse box, and as she pulled them out of the way she came across a pile of beautifully wrapped presents with her name on. They were from Dan. He had hidden them there in preparation for Christmas. She started to cry again.
